Rumor Dies a Slow Death
Once again, the Sergeants list didn't arrive. The Department has had the "merit" letters for two months now and still no promotions. But they've managed to create two or three more layers of bureaucracy. Go figure.
A number of people have been taking us to task for publishing rumors. We know they're too young to remember Rumor Central, but unless all you feel like reading about is scandals, politics and us ripping on the mayor's shortcomings, rumors make a nice little break from the regular stuff.

The list may not be out yet but the academy is already booking speakers for the training starting the first week of June.
thought 95% of this blog was rumor.

Det. Training in the areas for the new Sgts. Will be eliminated, as it has been found to be far too time consuming.
It didn't start because "they" (the department) did not want this blog to be seen as having the inside track on information. The list is ready to roll. Bt the way did anyone notice we got ANOTHER of daley's city hall reject put on the payroll. The new head of personnel wants to attempt to find out if the leak of information is coming from her office. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I hope somebody sues the city for negligence in the operation of the police dept. The shortage of Sgts is a joke. I dont know why anyone would want the job the city doesnt properly staff so the one or two sgts working are running all over the place and have to deal with the where were you BS when something happens. The sgts should all call in sick or go IOD withthe way the city treats them.
Fuck the rumors and fuck this police department. Why would anyone want to be a sergeant..the job blows.
Pleez make the list, I'm tired of guvment cheeze.

Class of about 75 ppo's started the academy this past Monday, 28 April.
I wonder if those were the kids who were told to report back in Jan/Feb, showed up, and then were sent home because the class was camcelled? (No Money to pay them)

ah some of you really get it, the real sgts of course work in uniform in patrol 6 fricking days in a row and so cronicaly short, ie 1 or 2 hit the street instead of 3 or 4 most districts except 01 & 18 of course....we run from one demand to see a supervisor to another...back up our cars so they can get a lunch or ck off on time...and for thanks we re told too much t/d asked for when we try to use legit time on books off...while specialty sgts working 4 0r 5 shortened days wkly have no problem....so hey end all the obsolete fucking details out of patrol and honor the contracts for the sworn members like you make us honor it....or can you handle class action lawsuits for the very hostile work envirnment you've allowed these phony merit capts to jerk us around in....the case is definitely taking shape...quit pretending all the young clout baby sgts wet behind the ears are so urgently needed elsewhere and make them earn sgt pay!

You are just mad because it's 2 hrs. longer than you usually take on lunch; now go suspend another case you did no work on and complain about the workload. Try that bullshit on someone else, some of us have been there and know better.

You guys got handpicked cases that either would have resulted in an administrative suspension or went to summary.
You didn't lighten anyone's workload because you usually did not get cases that would have been given to field detectives.
I was worried that you guys would come to think that is what kind of case load a real detective has.
You had no real case load.
Don't fool yourself and ease up.

When are some gonna show up? Every time you call the dick's the person on the other end immediatly sounds annoyed and informs you that it, "sounds like bullshit." Then you wait 3 hours for the dicks to show up.

Then why give them to the training sgt.'s at all? What are they learning?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original intent of that program for them to ride around with the dick's and see how they handle cases from start to finish?
