Someone in the comments claims there's a notice or fax out from downtown saying there will be a meeting with the Superintendent in the multi purpose room? No Supervisors, just PO's?

Tribune staff report
A boy is accused of inappropriately touching a female classmate this week at a South Side school, police said Saturday.
The incident happened Wednesday inside James N. Thorp Elementary School, 8914 S. Buffalo, according to police.
The boy was charged as a juvenile with criminal sexual abuse, said Officer Marcel Bright.

Off topic, This is an issue I think needs to be addressed. There was an incident at the JISC on 39th the other night involving (2) Female officers, one of which was a PPO. They had a juvenile, or so they thought, which they believed was a curfew. They were in route to the JISC, and the po finally got the correct info out of the guy and found he had a juvenile warrant. The po then took the guy out of the car to place him into custody at which time he commenced to beating on her. She fought with this guy for close to 7 minutes while the PPO just stood by and watched. The PPO never called out over the air, never ran for help, never intervened...nothing. The bad guy then got away from the PO and a foot chase ensued, after which she got on the air and called it out. The first car to respond was an 008th district car, not a 009th I bet they were to busy telling b-team stories while this was going on. Second off, after a while canine, 008 and 007 were looking through yards trying to find stupid. 007 just up and left, while the guys from 008 and canine were still looking. The issue at hand is this, first the PPO should be fired, and secondly is this what the department wants? Pussy whipped police officers that would stand by and watch their partners get their asses beat? To afraid to put their hands on anyone? I bet (in the eyes of some of the morons that read this) she is one of the best PPO's out there because she could pass a power test and since she could is in tip top shape to help her partner fight with some asshole. It is a shame that for the most part all these little college educated morons who always had mommy and daddy to fend for them when they were little kids are absolutely useless policemen. In my 15 years on I have never heard of anything like this until recently. The only other time I heard about this is that shooting in the supermarket where the coward ran out the door while the partner was in the middle of a shoot out. I can tell you what boys and girls, those of us that have that 6th ghetto sense know it is going to be a bloody summer, all I can say is be careful out there and Godspeed.
I have 18 Yrs on and every where I go and see fellow Police Officers, they are all talking about how bad it's getting on job. It is going to get a lot hard to get anyone to take this job who knows anyone on the Dept. These Gold Stars have realy messed this job up. Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis said Saturday that a recent spike in violence had led to an increase in the number of murders since last year.
Weis, speaking at an anti-violence town hall meeting aired on WBBM-Channel 2 and WBBM-AM (780), said "we've had an increase in murders from last year, and that's sad.''
Weis did not release specific figures, and a police spokesman said late Saturday that official crime statistics won't be released until the middle of the month.
Statistics released last month showed crime so far this year was down slightly from the same period last year, when murders were at a pre-1966 level for the fourth year in a row.
But April was a violent month. In one weekend, there were 36 shootings and seven murders.
Weis also acknowledged community concerns about police brutality after he was questioned about incidents including a highly publicized video of an off-duty police officer attacking a bartender.
"If people do not have the confidence in the police right now, I can understand that,'' Weis said. "There have been a lot of events that happened over the past year that we're certainly not proud of.''
He said police need to "restore the trust'' of the community. He encouraged those who don't trust police to report crimes to a minister or pastor.
One policy Weis instituted recently was to require police officers to identify themselves when they pull someone over during a traffic stop. Officers must also reveal the reason for the stop.
"I was surprised we didn't have that in place,'' Weis said.

2. Do you require all exempt members to pass a fitness test? By the looks of
it, about 50% percent of them couldn’t pass the state fitness exam.

4. Why do you insist on wearing our police uniform after we have ask you not to?
5. You got a contract, so why can’t you give us one now? June 2008 sounds like
a great deadline.
6. Do you plan on re-opening Aunt B’s shooting to a grand jury to determine if
it was justified?
7. Why are you holding back 250 or more detailed sworn personnel at headquarters
when they are needed on the street? Does Finance and Info Services need sworn at
all? No! How about the two po’s working full duty to maintain blackberries and
those 15 or more making power points for da mayo. Why keep the TRU and don’t say
you need them, because we need them in the districts, on midnights.
8. We want all special units opened to 60 % biddable. Rotational career
advancement programs that allow po’s to transfer into other units on a two year

10. When are you going to stop lying to the general public and media about
13,500 sworn officers on the Department and announce the real total number?

At the 47th annual police recognition ceremony last Friday, the mayor and j-fed got a polite round of applause. When the former Supt.(s), Cline, Hillard, Martin Rodrigues, etc were introduced, a noticeably louder round of applause was given. Also noticed was something j-fed brought back to the event, the BS administrative awards. Cline took these out and gave them at a 35th St. meeting insted. The recognition ceremony should be for the heroic police acts that were performed, and there were many. Congraduation to all of the real police officers who received the awards.

There is a reason why this was never in place J-Fed. He would know this if he ever pulled over a car in the ghetto. To fellow officers, this new General Order may not seem like much, but with the cameras it will screw u over if someone makes a complaint. You are guaranteed at least a day suspension if you don't introduce yourself as "Officer XXX from the Chicago Police Department." Remember IAD will look at the videotape and see if you followed protocol in all aspects of the stop on a CR investigation. Either follow this or don't make traffic stops. The latter seems more sensible.
Since I'm a sergeant and can't go to this meeting, I would ask anyone who can to ask this question, "When appearing on the Roe Conn show you were asked [What is the number of sworn personnel assigned to the department] and answered you did not know. Do you now know the real number of sworn personnel on the job, not the budgeted number and not counting civilians?" And as a follow up, "How does that number compare to the numbers from the last four years when homicides were on the downswing?" and lastly, "If you don't have those numbers right now, when will you get the answer to us?"
Until someone acknowledges that the 13,500 number is a budget number and not the actual number of sworn personnel on this job, 13,500 will continue to be used as the number. This was evident at the Recognition Ceremony Friday when the emcee - Jim Williams, J-fraud, and our civic leader all mentioned 13,500 during their speeches.

Bullshit, nobody can make you apologize. If the officers apologized, then they deserve everything that happened to them. If this is a true story, why pull over cars in the 1st place?
Will someone go to the meeting and ask Weis if he had any involvement, during or after, in the Det. J. Airhart shooting. There are alot of rumours out there. Just wondering. Maybe we can get some salty 30 year KMA club guy to ask because I am not stupid enough to do it.

This will not be great protection for the arrow taker, but if FOP has the list of questions and the guy stays on script, at least it's something. First off, before you go and knock the 009th district, I'm willing to bet that the car involved was from 008 or 007 which is on zone 6. 009 is on zone 13 so they probably had no idea this was going on as both zones know that by the time it reaches the other zone the incident is over and done with(i.e. a car chase in 008 one night down western ave, by the time 009 was notified the chase was already in 012). Second, you are right, that is exactly the kind of worthless p.o.'s the city wants. The days of proactive policing are over junior. How that ppo can walk into another rollcall is beyond me, she shouldn't have to be fired because she should realize this is not a job for her and just quit.

Off topic, This is an issue I think needs to be addressed. There was an incident at the JISC on 39th the other night involving (2) Female officers, one of which was a PPO.
Your writing skills are so bad that as i try to decipher what you were trying to say i'm still have a hard time. Were the females from 9,8,or 7? And it sounds like the incident took place in 009. These facts can change the whole story. From what i gather the girls were from 007 and it happened it 009. Which means that when they radio'd for help it went over zone 6 i believe which is 007 and 008. Now who knows how long it took to get it over to zone 13 which 009 is on. Which would explain why the 8th dist got there first and so on. So for you to come on here and bad mouth the 9th district for "not helping" is a load of shit. I've worked in 009 on 3rd watch recently and in a few other districts and I have never seen backup the likes of the 9th dist. Almost to a fault, b/c those guys fly to that shit so fast and sometimes recklessly that you're afraid u might get hit by a fellow squad. If you don't believe me, just do a stop in 009 and ask for "no emergency but can i get one other car here" and you'll have about 7 of them flying in there like its a shooting. I personally loved it and never once feared for my safety while working there b/c i knew my guys were only seconds away at all times. So before you come on here stiring shit up, put all the facts on the table first.
As for the female ppo that did nothing, i almost can't believe it. How could anyone just sit there and watch their partner fight with someone for "7 minutes" as you say and do nothing. I don't know, i think you've got to be exaggerating your story a bit. Even the worst p.o. would jump in when theres a struggle, i would think. The other incident you referred to was when a guy pulled a gun out and the ppo's ran. I can kind of understand that. But to watch ur partner fight with someone with no gun for that long... I dont know. I'm thinking that the other female p.o. might be telling a bit of a tale to make herself look a little more heroic.

I was hoping that the new Superintendant would have done something like the following: Go to roll call in a fast district on the 3rd or 1st Watch. and introduce himself to P.O. &**(*&. " I 'm Jody and tonight I m your partner. For the next 8 1/2 Hrs I m going to depend on you to get me home. I want to learn what you deal with ever night.I have never done this before. And after he did that in 3, 4, 7 11, 10, 15 25 14.... or what ever fast district he chooses. I d of done the same with Sgt. &*^%$........ in each one of those districts. At least that way he would have had an idea what it is to be a policeman.Then get up the next morning and go to 26 th and Cal. and go sit in on some cases for 6-8hrs. Stop by his office and catch up on what ever he has to do and then go do it again. And try and squeeze in sometime with his wife. Then go do it again.
It is an entirely different view point with a P.O. than riding around with a Chief of Patrol. The one thing I dont think Supt. Weiss realizes is that for 8 1/2 hrs the most important person in the world is that man or woman sitting next to you. Very few people really know that there are bad guys out there that are not afraid of our Star. Im not talking about the punk who wants to run his mouth....... I m not talking about all of the pushing and shoving agg. batts to p.o.s........ I m talking about those people who have the resolve to kill us. They are out there. Just take a look in the Star Case. Maybe its just me, but if your going to lead men and women who carry guns for a living.... than to me there's only one way to lead and thats from the front. It's called leadership by example, that idea has been forged and proven, and if you dont know where then there's really no sense in trying to explain it here. Just a couple of thoughts.
I m a Sgt. so I do not claim to understand what P.O.s are going through. But I see it everyday. Morale is the lowest I ve seen in 20 yrs. The problem is this a job in which we can do everything 100% correctly and Policeman will still die. Thats because we have to react. And If there's anything that slows down our reaction time we are even further behind. That's not good. ST. Judes is not something that should be taken lightly.

It ll be interesting to hear what Weiss has to say,,,,,, he obviously did nt make all 75 roll calls and I ve never heard of him going to any units. And I ve never heard of him speaking to any Sgt.s or Lt.s. I would have thought that the 1st and most important aspect of his new role as the leader of the CPD would have been to get to know nad understand the men and women who work for him, and what they have to do 6 days in a row. I have not seen that happen We know that the media has not and will not give us a fair shake. We have had a lot of bad press and rightfully so, and we are going to get more. That's nothing new..... We are 2nd guessed almost everday in the media, and by members of the legal profession. We are sued, and slandered, and blamed for decisons that we make in a split second. We did not and never will have the time and safety to make these decisions with the help of Attorney Joe Blow and his paid professionals. I am not talking about the out right criminal actions of some former employess of the CPD. I am talking about the life and death decisions that are made on nearly a daily basis my us.
The biggest fear that I have is that we are going to get someone seriously hurt because we waited to long to use the Necessary and LEGAL Force that we were trained to use. I ve seen it, and that can be a very bad situation. I for one am going home every night. And I will be damned if I let anyone and I mean anyone try and hurt me or another Police Officer. I don't care how it looks on TV, or in the news papers. I refuse to have my name on page 15 of the Trib or Times when I or someone I work with gets shot or seriously hurt, because I waited to long to react.
This is about the only job in the world where you can't get in any trouble for doing the bare minimum. Some people run to the sound of gunfire...... some run
away. That's nothing new. We have all seen cars going the other way on 10-1s. And we ve also seen policeman come in on their days off when a cop is shot.
This job is not the same as when I came on.... It s not the same as when the last recruit class graduated. I don t know if it ll get better or worse. I know I am closer to retiring than I was yesterday......
The only thing that has stayed the same in the 20 yrs that I have been on this job is that the families of officers killed on this job are dressed in black at their funerals...........

If Cmdr Johnson got involved, and an apology was actually conducted, then it stands to reason that somebody screwed up. I don't see coppers apologizing if their stop was above board. I wouldn't be so quick to judge Johnson wrong on this one. He was a good Det. and Sgt. for years before being made Cmdr., always showed sound judgement. And it's not like we haven't seen more than our share of screwups in patrol over the past year or so.

They had a juvenile, or so they thought, which they believed was a curfew. They were in route to the JISC, and the po finally got the correct info out of the guy and found he had a juvenile warrant. The po then took the guy out of the car to place him into custody at which time he commenced to beating on her. She fought with this guy for close to 7 minutes while the PPO just stood by and watched.
If the two female PPOs didn't think they had the strength to get this guy out of their car and get him cuffed, they should have called for assistance in order to do, no problem with them doing that. If the PPO stood there and did nothing, (and you CAN'T believe everything posted here!), then she should be fired, and quickly. Only her partner will know for sure what occurred, and it probably shouldn't be posted here. Shame on the cars who showed up to assist and quickly withdrew from the search (again, you can't believe everything posted here as gospel!).
Meet with J-Fed? So fucking what! Nothng will change, he is full of shit, anyone who doesn't think Daley is running the CPD is under the influence. Commander Johnson is one of the best of the new commanders, and the best commander 006 has had in a long time. If he ordered the PO's to apologize, it was probably to avoid getting a number on them. He treats everyone decent. You don't like it take your punk bitch ass over to 021 and say hello to your old boss. From what I know he's got plenty of openings coming up. And put your PAR form in quick, because quite a few officers from 35 Michigan, TRU and YES 21, are trying to get into 006. When DOTY was there the reverse was true- say hi to him / her, when you get back to 021, if he-she will even speak to you.

It is because in college they watched their professor lecture, do a math problem, an experiment, etc. Much of formal education is watching. These study habits, personal habits and learning habits get careried over into the behavior of the college educated recruit. This is why this is happening. Happened to me. The recruit was disciplined, but not fired.
Secondly, what type of person majors in XYZ, pays 80 gs in college costs and then decides to become a cop? Typically, an unmotivated C student, an undecided major type, maybe an LAS type. Fact is the salary looks good to them, 50-60K before you are 26 YOA, so many adopt a 1st and 16th attitude, play police attitude far earlier in their career than you might suspect. A lot expect to nbe promoted, but it will always be a bad numbers game. Few realize that after 12-15 yearsm you can easily get stuck.

And put your PAR form in quick, because quite a few officers from 35 Michigan, TRU and YES 21, are trying to get into 006. When DOTY was there the reverse was true- say hi to him / her, when you get back to 021, if he-she will even speak to you.

I'm tired of the necessity to mention that it is typical of a female PO to run scared. Due to the shortage of PO's, I worked 99 on midnights for 6 months straight, more than what most men would do, in a rough ass district. And I have seen MANY male PO's coward out on hot situations. I’ve taken my bumps and bruises during fights and it's bad enough that we can't be on teams or find good partners cuz we are quickly judged by what is.. or what is not.. between our legs.. It's such an insult to us working females!

I was a cadet but quit after poor treatment from Semi. He treats everyone around him very poorly. Everyone makes fun of him, no respect. many cadets are fed up and several quit. Being a cadet has no benefits. Without clout, cadets are bounced around and Semi just messes with us. I found a real job and will wait until hired by CPD.
Off topic, This is an issue I think needs to be addressed. There was an incident at the JISC on 39th the other night involving.

Cadet program is in bad shape. As a former cadet, there were benefits despite low pay and health benefits. proud to waer uniform and work with police. In the last 6 months, program poorly managed. They treat cadets as slaves unless you have family on the job. Clout rules. Mike Semi runs program and shits all over cadets. cadets avoid him and his temper. 6.SHITTY TRAINING..these kids dont know anything about 10-4 or any on the job related terms.Barely know how to answer phones
No leadership or supervision on the job. they should not take the place of any PO but rather, learn the job of a PO. Most sort cards every day. Bounced around distircts on a whim unless mommy or daddy make a phone call. How many quit or are pregnant? Absolutely no benefits. My son was interetsed but not after I talked to current and fromer cadets. What used to be a great program fell apart. Hello J-FED and Brust. Audit the program. You would be shocked.
Instead of going to that stupid meeting, a lot of the P.O.'s that whine all the time should stay home. They should stay home and not get all worked up over nothing. And when on the job, just answer your calls for police service!
What is with this nonsense that women P.O.'s will run away from a fight? Women can do anything men can do. Women are just as tough, rough, strong, etc... as men are.

Is it true that the first day in the academy the new class was told that they were not to raise their voice at an offender cuz it would not be 'nice for a PO to act that way'? WTF is going on there?

YES, it is true. My brother is in the academy and told me that is what they are teaching him and his classmates. But in the end, don't blame the academy. The instructors are only doing what the higher ups tell them to do.
Unless he was drinking, which could be a strong possibility. And I say that with love.
