Mell and Burke
Mell got his personal gun law through committee. Only a matter of days until it goes before the full City Council and Mell gets his firearms re-registered while thousands of otherwise law abiding citizens are screwed:
- Ald. Richard Mell got a City Council committee to approve a change to a Chicago law on his behalf Wednesday, but argued it would benefit thousands of other city residents who, like him, simply failed to renew their gun licenses.
- Re-registration of the guns would have to occur within 4 months of passage of the ordinance by the full City Council, which could come as soon as Wednesday.
And get a load of this Burke proposal:
- Also considered by the committee was a proposal by Ald. Ed Burke (14th) to require anyone convicted of a felony gun offense to be listed for 4 years on a city registry, as is done in New York. The committee delayed action on Burke's proposal.
As Burke described it on the radio, citizens can look up convicted gun offenders on the internet, just like sex offenders, and the sense of "public shame" would keep people in line.
"Public shame?" What the hell is Burke smoking? There is no shame nowadays. And as criminals never registered guns or cared about consequences in the first place, having their names and picture on the internet is going to be a badge of honor. What an idiot.
And notice, another New York idea stolen by Chicago.

Public shame? And the mutt Burke is a member of the Chicago city council? Yeah right, you oily thieving, political hack piece of shit. Bite me Eddie.
I have just one question. If it's such a problem and the alderman is so concerned about those who lapse in registration, why is it that there is only a small grace period instead of a permanant late registration fee? Did someone just take care of themselves and create a temporary loophole? And Mumbles said there was no problem with it. Good God these people are sick.
There should be a photo album with all the indicted/jailed Aldercreatures since Tom Keane. That would be public shame.
OFF TOPIC:
25th district officer arrested by the FBI yesterday; here it comes again.:(
When will you guys stop the madness?!
Is it that tough to come to work without lying, cheating or stealing?
The rest of us do it on a daily basis and it's not difficult at all.
I know it's only a small percentage of dumbasses, but they are really making the rest of us look bad.
Heard they were cutting locks in 25too.
Remember, when you retire if you must stay here the registration goes yearly. And that M4 which all you gun freaks are getting hot about, it will be banned for ex-cops. Enjoy...
mell forgot to add on the "i'm more important than anyone else so i can live outside the city and get away with it " law.
Why would you register your guns??Buy a quality gun safe.Dont tell any body. When you load up the POV use plenty of descretion.
If it doesnt look like a gun case, its not.
Burke is a total sleeze, a wierd-o, and a phoney, hasn't contributed anything to the City or the Taxpayers, only for his own pockets, and those of his Clout-Clown Friends.
Leave Ald. Mell alone! He forgot to register because he was too busy minding Commander Avila's career.
Shame? Sh*theads could care less. They don't have internet access, let alone computers dum dum. If they do, they will print out their picture and show it to all their hommies and cluckers as a badge of honor.
Convicted gun offenders? In the City of Chicago? That is funny. LOL.
Why don't they make an Alderman webpage of shame. We can start with Troutman and go down the line.
The Trib article defines Mell as an avid gun collector and hunter.
Yet he votes for EVERY piece of anti-gun BS that LKR wants, never standing up for the rights of law-abiding citizens.
What a hypocritical POS.
Watch! After a couple of months, and after they see the revenue it brings in, it will be made permanent!
Every legit person will again be able to register their legal firearms.
CASH! CASH! CASH!
Burke is a gangster .dirty thief.
After watching polititians over the last number of years, mostly that asshole Burke, there isn't one citizen, legit or otherwise, that have any shame at all.
You taught 'em all well Eddie you fucking gump.
I thank Alderman Mell for this ordinance. I have several expired registrations and didn't want to chance sending them to gun registration lest some knucklehead Sgt. get a CR# on me for having an unregistered gun.
So I will get my shit re-registered! Thanks Alderman Mell! I appreciate it.
Sorry about your son-in-law being such a miserable turd but maybe they won't indict your daughter, just her useless husband. At any rate, they will both be relatively young when they get out. Let's see how Blago's testicular fortitude works out for him in the joint.
Thanks again for the freebee on gun registration!
Question: Is Burke a member in good standing of the FOP.
Has Burke or any of the alderthieves ever had an original idea?
Hell, for a part time gig paying good scratch, I will read the out of town papers and "borrow" their ideas legislative ideas.
MELL & BURKE = BEVIS & BUTTHEAD.....
I was talking with a friend from the academy who works in 5. He said that they a team do a search warrant on a house and the mope in the house let his pit bull loose on the first couple of cops in. They shot the dog, 5 times!!, without a missed shot, and with the shotgun!! They finally killed it with a handgun, but they said the dog was huge, and it would not go down.
Thankfully, they did look under the dogs ass when he was dead and made sure he was spaded - thank goodness for Alderman Burke, now we have another thing to worry about at "pet" shootings too.
i thought you could not register a hand gun in Chicago??

Glad to know the old tradition of the Chicago Way is still alive and well in the this town.

Maybe if you had any testicluar fortitude of your own you would've called Gun Registration and spoke to someone and realized you didn't need an alderman to change the ordinance for you, Fuckhead. I mean knucklehead.
Why do you want to register your guns??
Registration leads to confiscation.
Just bough my Benelli M4 shotgun at Cabelas,0% financing for one year on all Benellis(ends June 15th).
I wont be registering it,and yes Cabelas will sell to Chicagoans(handguns too).
Jesse plans to march on DSA arms again this saturday.
Supposedly, the ordinance was passed by the full city council, although if you find a word about it in the news, you have a better nose for such things than I do.
There's even a rumor that the window has been extended to 6 months--perhaps at the behest of Daley himself.
Still looking for confirmation.
