Daley Out of Town - Again
How does he always manage to miss the uncomfortable questions that arise with a big scandal? And this time he has a doozy of an excuse:
As local Olympic officials prepare for Wednesday's announcement on which of the cities still in the running will make the first cut, a pair of experts called Chicago a front-runner in the contest to host the 2016 Games.
Chicago is expected to be one of the three to five finalists when an International Olympics Committee panel announces its technical rankings in Athens. The campaign then will swing to convincing the larger IOC membership to vote for Chicago in the final round, in October 2009.
Convincing = bribing Olympic Officials, either by impressive trips, luxurious overnight stays, or the ever popular briefcase full of cash. Should Chicago make the cut, we'll have something amusing ready to go.

This guy is always out of town when people in his administration get indicted or convicted. Whenever some city contractor he "doesn't know" gets indicted or convicted. Or whenever the media runs a less than flattering story about a city department. A city hall employee I trust told me he takes, no joking, 5-7 overseas trips a year. The trips are always ten days to three weeks long. Overseas trips! He also travels to "conferences" throughout the country every year in addition to the overseas travel. He goes to San Diego, Arizona, Florida, Boston, New York on official business. His overseas trips have included Ireland, China, France, Italy, England, Spain, Japan, Sweden, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia to name a few. Many countries he has been to numerous times. He travels with an entourage too. His wife always goes. His press secretary always goes, a few aides always go, a handful of CPD bodyguards always go, and usually some city department head. We pay for all of this under the guise of "Official city business". I realize as the Mayor of Chicago he has to travel on occasion, but WTF! This is outrageous.
I want these fucked up olympics!! Is it just me or is there a ton of OT to be had if we get them? Easy OT at that; looking at fucknuts from around the world. I'll be KMA status by then and what a way to leave this CIRCUS...
I'm planning my furlough for 2016. It will be somewhere other than Chicongo. Maybe Michigan or Indiana. Gas might be 7 bucks a gallon, so I'll just walk.

Slick Willie used to do that all the time when he was the president. But in fairness, most of the trips are paid for by one of the civic groups that has in interest in the commercial aspect of the trip., ie restaurant associations, chamber of commerce, etc.
Who is Matt Tobias's clout/juice?. That would explain how he has been protected up to this point.When the FBI/Justice Dept starts going after Tobias,Daley wont throw him under a bus;Daley will throw him in front of a CTA train.

Just wait for President Obama and see what a direct line to the White House will do for Chicago. We just might get to see if candidate and perhaps President Obama keeps his promise of keeping Patrick Fitzgerald as US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.

Expect someone from the Chicago, Illinois Good 'Ole Boys Lawyer Club to be swiftly ensconced in the Federal Building in downtown Chicago as the new US Attorney.

Do you honestly think Mayor "Greed" would actually give the police a chance to make money? I think not. Someone in his family or close friend with a security firm will get the contract to provide security for the olympics.
