Some Charges Dropped
Good news is where you find it. This qualifies a good news for someone:
- Prosecutors dropped several charges Tuesday against one of the former Special Operations Section officers accused of robbing and falsely arresting people in one of the biggest scandals ever to hit the Chicago Police Department.
The bad news is they're going to drag a dead guy into it. This thing just gets more and more hideous the closer you look at it.
Don't be surprised if a few more charges get dropped along the way.

They are guilty. How can you explain the wealth they accumulated over the last few years? Feds have wiretaps and videos. Possibly charges are dropped because of deals made. I bet everyone is cooperating. You forget that feds rarely loose cases.

Maybe because the feds rarely, if ever, indict unless, and until, they've got tons of ammo to rain their 'shock and awe' strategy upon the heads of their targets.
If you do the research, you'll find that their 97%+ conviction rate consists of mostly plea bargains.
When taken to trial, their rate is more like 50% max.
It's the belief in their infallibility that tends to skew the jury pool towards thinking that if the feds indicted someone, he/she/they must be guilty.
That's one of the reasons why a federal indictment is tantamount to the kiss of death, compared to state charges.
Like 00 buckshot, odds are that when the feds indict on multiple counts, you're gonna catch a few pellets, no matter what you do.

Any one of the charges against this guy would put him in jail for up to 30 years. He should be convicted, but this is Cook County, so he might not.
No one gets money for being falsely charged by an ASA, goof. All they get is a not guilty.
They get money for being falsely arrested/beaten/etcetera etcetera, which didn't happen.

It disgusts me that alot of "good coppers" are getting labeled and thrown under the bus reputation wise, because of the scum like Finnegan,Herrera and Suchocki did.
For the good times and hard work in 153, i salute my fellow working officers that i worked with there and the rest of the mutts and thieves can go to hell.

In regard to CS: I was on the fence when I heard he was charged as the guy worked hard while on the job and also at many sides. I am less on the fence hearing that two years later, someone decided to check a time sheet and see that he WAS NOT EVEN AT WORK on the days in question. Maybe he committed a crime and maybe he did not...a judge or jury will decide that. Still, he is absolutely guilty of more than a crime. He betrayed his oath...to us. In his choosing to ignore the behavior of those around him, as many individuals have done for decades before him, he has added his name to the list of those who have made the job more difficult. His actions will reflect on ours for years to come. I hope he does not go to jail based upon the evidence presented against him, yet I pray that he never wears a badge again. How could he have not known what was going on around him?

I was a witness in a case in front of "No Time" Epstein. good case, Class X weight, real scumbag, child porn, much dope, board of ed employee, bad guy.
Judge Epstein set him free in the PC hearing. The scumbag hired Pat Tuite, paid around $25k and got sprung. The judge couldn't believe the choir boy sitting there in an expensive 3 piece suit could have done all those despicable things. Epstein said that. He said he didn't believe the police , several police who all saw what they saw and testified as much were not believed.
Epstein let the guy go when he was facing 6 minimum.
The only reason Epstein is a judge was a favor to Phil Corboy and his daughter Joan Corboy, former Chief Judge at Skokie. When she was killed at her father's condo (electric garage gate accident) they gave her spot as a judge, though not chief, to her husband, Epstein, where he perverts justice regularly still today.

It disgusts the rest of us that Supervisors turned a blind eye, tolerated & encouraged criminal behavior. The rest of you "legit" guys which is a misnomer, because NOBODY went to SOS w/o a phone call. Although you were in the untenable position of having to work along side these Morons.
Perhaps you feel you can hold you head up high, but your integrity really wouldn't pass the smell test...

You know what jag-off, i CAN hold my head up high!!!! And i can put my head on my pillow at night knowing i was clean throughout my long career......MY integrity and many other hard working coppers in 153 can...... My supervisors on our watch DIDN'T condone nor ask nor turn a blindseye to that behaviour, hence why our watch not JB's watch, were called the "dog watch", because we were doing things the LEGAL way, and bringing in 1/10 of the guns Finnegans watch was bringing in, because we did it the old fashion way, with hardwork, no bullshit.......... MT came in and gave us a pep talk at rollcall telling us to step it up or heads were going to roll off our watch.........We DIDNT step it up, we kept doing the next right thing with honor and integrity...........
Sure there were grumbles and whispers for years, about Finnegans watch and team. None of us could prove shit. All we did was go out there and do our jobs. And not worry about getting the same numbers the thieves were getting illegally.
So stop hating on the workers that were in that unit, you yourself just threw us under the bus, without even knowing us. Talk about being all blue??? I wouldnt want to get into a car with you, with such a jaded and obviously tainted view on those in specialized units. Remember, one of those days, one in a unit might be saving your ass out of a 10-1.
You going to call me a clout baby, a phonecall honey or a thief to my face, when i am risky my life to save yours?????

I never worked in SOS unit 153! But for the jagoff that is talking shit when they came on my calls I knew there was nothing to worry about they took cahrge, and the punks were afraid not like the coppers of today where no one cares! God Bless 153 and you talk about finnegan where he crossed the line was the "paint job" shit he took from drug dealers and gang bangers he should of took millions and fled! Maybe if he took all the money he is accused of taking it kept them at bay for awhile, kept them from buying more guns and drugs quicker!
