Summing Up Daley's Nonsense

From one of our very own commentators:
  • Daley...called the Supreme Court's overturning of the Washington D.C. handgun ban "a very frightening decision"

I think Thomas Jefferson had some apropos comments for this...

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

Sounds to me like the system is in good working order.
It certainly does. For the moment. Maybe a little more fear on the government's part is in order though.

Tell the midget to put down "To Kill a Mockingbird" and pick up a couple of history books.

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Paine

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
Richard Henry Lee
American Statesman, 1788

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"
Patrick Henry
American Patriot

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not.
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."
Alexander Hamilton
The Federalist Papers at 184-8

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States

Remember that last one next time you vote for mayor.

The mayor still has the power to get his way. He no longer has the power to BS the adverage working, or wants to work, citizen in this city. We know what your all about mayor. You tore dowm Miggs Field in the middle of the night. You can't wait to sell off the lake front, and parks. They now charge 20.00, to lap swimm at Portage Park. You and your fellow politicians sold off the skilled jobs in this country. You allowed 12 Million Illigal Residents to take the rest. You subsidized children that have no responsible parents. You created a lost violent generation, who thinks they are the victims. Well deal with it your honor. Maybe you can give them a discount at the childrens museum. Have fun at the parade today.

What a joke, on CLTV today, J-Fed is walking at a anti-violence rally, he’s wearing a black polo shirt, and boy oh boy has he got a gut and “man-titties”. He talks about us needing to get in shape. Hey J-Jerk-off try doing a couple hundred sit-ups and then you can talk about how out of shape we are.

Great article on how gun control lost on townhall.com

"--Gun control didn't work. In the 1990s, despite its draconian ban, Washington became the murder capital of the United States. Chicago's homicide rate, which had been declining in the years before it banned handguns, climbed over the following decade. Gun control didn't work.

During the time the federal assault weapons law was in effect, the number of gun murders declined -- but so did murders involving knives and other weapons. When the law was allowed to expire in 2004, something interesting happened to the national murder rate: nothing.

--Laws allowing concealed weapons proliferated -- with no ill effects. In 1987, Florida gained national attention -- and notoriety -- by passing a law allowing citizens to get permits to carry concealed handguns. Opponents predicted a wave of carnage by pistol-packing hotheads, but it didn't happen. In fact, murders and other violent crimes subsided. Permit holders proved to be sober and restrained."

It's only a 9-minute video-clip, but VERY chilling.

If guns are "Silly" then the Mayors detail needs to put away ALL their firearms and AUTOMATIC WEAPONS and work unarmed.

Why does he need firearms to protect him?

What is he afraid of?

All he needs are to unarmed thugs to muscle him thru crowds.

And Maggie needs none, she is not a VIP.

Same for Burke, give him 1 unarmed bodyguard.

How much money is wasted on take home cars and gas for all city employees?

How many are there? Nobody knows!

My neighborhood is loaded with unmarked police cars, marked police cars from motor maintenance, etc., Ward Superintendant SUV's, Board of Election Van, Board of Ed. vehicle, Streets and Sanitation Suv's, 2 covert cars from a married couple, both on job, in (who knows what? CPD unit).

All these people don't need company cars for an emergency.

Let them drive themselves to work like everyone else and use the money to fund our pensions, contract, new p/o's, equipment, etc.

And no, I'm not on the North side!

Just a blue shirt working cop with no clout.

If only Charlie was still around. Too bad he didn’t get to the ruling first hand like the rest of us.
I know somehow someway he knows now...

Thanks Charlie for your great performances, American patriotism and a vision for this country that is clearly centered on strong moral and ethical beliefs that most of us share...

What was really amusing when asked about the 3yo who was killed by the faulty gate which happened on property managed by a clout buddy he stated "It has to be investigated" But when the squatters in the apartment building fire died he wanted the Building Owner charged w/negligent homicide. This coming from the so-called Piped Piper Mayor who's all about children. What a phony coward fraud personified.

I love it!
Every liberal out there believes they, not the Supreme court, have the correct interpretation of the constitution. Guess what, they don't!

What part of 5 is greater then 4 do they not get? The justices, are basing their decisions on the intent of the founding fathers, not emotional feelings.

So stop the crying and move on with your lives. Go save a tree.

Excellent points, SCC. As you have pointed out before in your comments, how dare Daley tell citizens that guns are the enemy when he himself has lived every day of his life under the protection of men with guns (cue Col. Nathan Jessup).

Who brings guns into your home? The Stork? You have to love it. C'mon people. Lighten up. It would be so much more boring around here with a legitimate mayor and city counsel.

Who need tickets to the circus. We have the greatest show on earth right here with Da Lil Emperor and the court jesters (aldercreatures) keeping us all entertained.

Just another reason why this city is considered Rinky Dink, Mickey Mouse.

THE ONLY THING THIS CITY HAS OVER OLD TIME ROME IS BETTER PLUMBING.

The Supreme Court has issued a ruling concerning the Second Amendment. The Village of Morton Grove is in the process of reviewing this decision to determine how it applies to the Village’s ordinance. The Village has every intention of complying with this decision. “The Village’s Corporation Counsel will review this U.S. Supreme Court decision and the Village will comply with its direction.” Said Mayor Richard Krier.

For additional information please contact Village Administrator Joseph F. Wade at 847/470-5220.

But what do you call it when the people fear the police?
Not respect, but fear.
The police are not given respect becuase they don't earn it or are worthy of it.
Constitutionally, the U.S. Supreme Couty was correct. But times demand that the availability of handguns in urban areas be limited. There is certainly no need for urban residents to be armed.
