Weekend Bloody Start

It's there, just hovering around the edges, waiting to erupt:
  • The beginning of the weekend was marked with violence as five people were killed in separate attacks in the city.

The violence unfolded over about 15 hours starting at 11 p.m. Friday night, when a 19-year-old man was shot on the city's South Side.
While the article says five dead, the headline boasts six. Regardless, one good series of 90 degree days strung together and lord knows what we're in for. Stay safe.

Homicides in 014,016,017,025.. but none in 015.... WTF!!! And the kicker is... the homicide offenders in 014 were some starbucks yuppies!
Why do we police the ghetto when
1. They don't want us there and
2. The ghetto just polices themselves..
We take all the teams and rapids from other districts n put them in the ghetto and our own home front goes to shit!

In the 90's we used to routinely have more than 800 murders. One year we thought there would be 1000 murders. And on top of that a hell of a lot more mopes were shot by the police.

We had less than 500 murders last year. We might get 550 this year.

Let's not call in the National Guard and the big guns just yet. So far, its a normal Chicago summer, rookies.

Any correlation between all the killings in the 90's and the fact that CAPS was taught(forced down our throats) remember, CAPS IS NOT SOFT ON CRIME, to the first class of recruits in 93?

I don't consider myself a rookie, I have a little over 11 years on, but I would agree with the "rookie" you think is incorrect. If you have not taken Lt. Col. Grossman's class "Bulletproof Mind" I suggest you should. If you have you obviously were not listening. The reason homicides are down is not because of our great gun laws or our great police work, it's because of the advances in medical technology. Get a stat on agg bat w/ firearm from the early 90's and now and compare those numbers. One thing war has definately taught us...how to save people.

Murders are down fewer projects. They use to cover 30% of the tally rate in the 90s. I am really surprised that the numbers are not higher I credit copers who are out there and doing their job. Police shoot three over the weekend shows me we are not turning tail or second guessing ourselves. I hope all those involved are not going to take a beating. These guys will be a test case if it goes bad for them then the trickle down work slow down will become a waterfall. Who needs this BS if your going to hung out to dry. Lets hope things go well!!!!!!

---------------------

Problem is agg batts used to include person shot or shot at back in 1990. They were re-classified and that's how agg batts went dramatically down for Cline.

I can only tell you from experience, I think a lot more people were shot in 1990 than last year. Projects, west side up for grabs, southside the same. There was just a hell of a lot more shit back then.

But, we can never really know how many people were shot back then.
