Got a memo forwarded to the blog about a meeting that took place 08 July 08 at Area 4. Seems the head of IAD had a mandatory meeting with the tact, gang, saturation and gun team supervisors regarding a recent audit of Search Warrant files.
We recall bad Search Warrants being part of the recent SOS unpleasantness. Is this crap going to spill out even further?

Did the same in area Two, no big deal really. Gun Teams do the most warrants, and CRs are constantly coming in on them, all your typical stuff. Just pointers on how to avoid potential problems.

you act as though you WANT another incident. What is your beef with search warrants? If you havent noticed the drug game on the west side is a living animal, constantly adapting. More and more "open air" drug markets are going inside and using delivery. Search warrants are critical for that very reason. The SOS guys got caught up in STEALING, not search warrants. In fact, they weren't doing warrants at all. The departments typical knee-jerk reaction to SOS's (not all sos guys) H.I.'s, was to rewrite the search warrant order. Which is just as ridiculous as rewriting the chase policy, because an off. runs into a civilian. The next argument will be about the A/2 gun team and thier F.O.I.D fiasco. Do I agree with that kind of policing?No. But you act as though that's all they did for years, which is not the case; and neither one of us were there or know the circumstances- so what are we talking about?
The meeting was actualy an attempt, by the department, to help us out. I'm not a huge fan of J-Fed, nor Skahill; but I'm not going to bash them when it appears they are trying to do the right thing. It was simply a meeting designed to try and avoid CR's and lawsuits. Were some of the suggestions ridiculous? Yes, but they meant well. At the end Skahill acknowledged that, "...If you do search warrants, you will get CR numbers period. IAD knows that.". In my book, that's a pretty big admission. Especially, since they've been preaching that, "BOO-BOO dont beef for no reason! Let's look at the patter-ren, robin hood." bullshit.
The bottom line is, a lot of time on this blog, you bash special units, tac, and gang. I thinks that bullshit. There is clout here, but not everyone had a phonecall. Pushing a blue-and-white sucks (everyone of us did it), but it does have its rewards. No pressure. Our choice, I acknowledge that. But some people just need the chase. God help us, because we can't stop. No matter how shitty it gets.
there is a rumor floating around that there be arrests made due bad SW's. I hope I am wrong in this one. We cannot take another hit. Be safe out there family.
Who was in charge of the A4 Gang teams when this nonsense was going on ??? He ended up as a Boss.

that's why like everything else----dont do them anymore. i know ASA's, attorneys, public defenders, judges etc read this blog... any of them care to comment on the caseload this year compared to previous years???

oh man and with the upcoming indictment of NM I sure am glad I am no where NEAR any of his SWs. He is going to be throwing every single PO under the bus to avoid prison...
Just being on one of his (either from 023 or A/4 gun) SWs is going to put a bullseye on your back!

the Dept. is going in the exact OPPOSITE direction of a sucessful law enforcement agency. The constant politics game played by the Daley DemocRATS is 100% to blame. I worked in 013 before, what's the deal....Ususally had good bosses on tact/gangs?
i would be surprised if the shit DIDNT hit the fan in A4. dont they have NMs balls nailed to the wall? by what i have heard, if it does happen it will be another nasty scandal. iad has been in a4 way before this meeting.

A judge signs the search warrant COMMANDING that we search the address. Why would IAD get involved on a negative (or even positive) warrant? We're just doing what we were told to do by the judge.
I just love hearing 44A call out a search warrant!

I work with a few of those people every f*cking day. Do-nothing dics sit at the computer all day doing nothing. No arrests, no reports, nothing. Bosses who know about the do-nothings and choose to do nothing about the do-nothings. And yes, there are still some people who care and come to work and actually work. It just gets harder for the workers to come to work everyday watching what goes on and no one does anything about it.
I have some time on this job and have also worked in the "outside world of civilians" and I have never encountered such incompetent supervisors. Afraid to do anything, say anything or approach problems half-assed. Most of them have their own agenda and just don't care. It's astounding and no wonder this dept. is so f*cked up.

The red flags are "John Doe" warrants. Lots of "John Doe's" surfacing telling stories about what and why they told the Judge.

013 has three, or four, real sergeants who can do policework and see through the bullshit. No problem though since most of the affirmative action PO'S don't need supervising. They wouldn't get their asses out of the care to save themselves-or you. The tact sergeants were appointed by Kolman-non compis mentis-and most need to be launched.

In all my time on the job, I never, nor do I recall hearing anyone else, refer to a MARKED CAR as a "blue and white". For that matter its also not a cruiser, prowl car, patrol car or any of the other terms Ive heard a marked car refered to. You have either a marked or an unmarked car.
