Delayed Homicide

Despite all the efforts of medical personnel, regardless of the deployments of extra units and bodies, in spite of every single variable being accounted for in endless meetings, sometimes you just can't stop the numbers from going up:
  • A man battered with a stick last month in the Garfield Park neighborhood has from his injuries, authorities said.

Regenald Johnson, 34, of 634 N. Ridgeway Ave., was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 4:15 a.m. Friday, said the Cook County Medical Examiner. A Saturday autopsy determined Johnson died of sepsis, craniocerebral injuries and assault. The death is ruled a homicide.

Johnson told police an unknown male struck him on the right side of the head with a stick as he stood outside at 4326 W. Wilcox St. about noon on July 30

to all the crusty old farts who say that the murder rate is not comparable to the 900+ years of the 70's-80's, only one thing has changed. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY!!! We might actually be at 500+ right now in August if we were using predated practices and technology.

So there, we ARE seeing a drastic spike in homicide and shootings/stabbings/whatever.

What's really disturbing and troubling about this whole ordeal is that Mr. Regenald Johnson was just minding his own "bidness" when this tragedy unfolded.

He had just returned home from dropping his children off at Summer School Math & Science Camp, and was in the process of bringing groceries into the house in anticipation of what was to be a family meal that his wife and mother to all five of his children was to prepare after she returned home from her 9-to-5 office job.

Regenald originally associated his lapse in equilibrium with the joy of the news of his kids receiving stellar grades in their extracurricular studies, but shortly thereafter mistakenly blamed his spouse's undercooked chicken.

Little did he know that the blow from the unknown assailant armed with the stick would prove to be the catalyst in his untimely demise.

Rest in peace, R.J. You were a pillar of the community that will be sorely missed. Especially by the coppers who had open cases with you as the defendant. May your Heaven consist of endless BBQ's, bottomless 40-ouncers, never-ending fields of chronic, leagues of big-bootied bitches and corner Arab-owned stores open 24/7.

Medical technology and the elimination of public housing. The jets were responsible for a good 400 murders a year.

There is absolutely no reason we need to have sticks in Chicago. I will pass an ordinance outlawing all sticks. Its for the children. Sticks are just silly, silly, silly. They're just silly.

A few years back, Popular Science had an article about the murder rate in Baltimore being lower than in prior years partly due to improved medical technology.

Heard there was a homicide in the 25th District that has not been counted. The city does not want the total over 500 and may try to hide some! More Death Investigations to come that will hide the murders.
