- An 85-year-old great-grandmother from Lake Lynn, Fayette County kept an alleged burglar at bay using a .22-caliber pistol. According to police, a 17-year-old suspect was attempting to burglarize Leda Smith overnight. That's when Smith grabbed her gun and told the teen that she would shoot him if he moved, police said.
They showed Grandma's gun on TV. It was some ancient top-break .22-caliber revolver, 9 shots if we aren't mistaken. Still, enough to do some damage if Grandma was provoked. Channel 9's talking heads went on and on about how happy they were that this elderly woman was able to protect herself.
What about all the tens of thousands of elderly folks around here that can't protect themselves without running afoul of Daley's anti-gun agenda? These media hypocrites have blinders on.

Use google to check statistics on states with concealed carry vs. states without. Consistently, states that allow citizens to arm & protect themselves have less crime than states that do not. Travel to a state with concealed carry and see who's packin'. Night shift nurses, middle-aged taxpaying guys, nearly 100 percent law-abiding citizens. The IR number havin' s**t-heads can't, won't or don't get concealed carry permits.

Didnt we all see the COPS episode where the 85 year old grandma THOUGHT she heard a burglar, grabbed her .25 caliber and shot out the back door... and when the POs arrived to investigate a shots fired call she shot twice through the door at them?? now THAT seems more likely what would happen if we started arming the elderly... I had a girlfriend who worked as a waitress 8pm-4am. One early morning she was at a light and a carload of shitheads pulled up and started badmouthing her. She reached down into her lap and pulled up her .22.
They gone.
Everyone should be able to have a concealed weapon.

Were I her, I would have capped the mutt. All nine, real fast before he takes it away and any are left. 85 year old woman, 16 yr old POS breaks into her house, she is in fear of her life. He would have been a freebie. But it was her call as it should be. The problem: he comes back when he's on I bond and home electronic monitoring to take care of the witness against him. Or he learns from his mistake on the next job when he's out of jail in a year or two. Thats why I would have punched his ticket when I had the chance. By the way, were I a family member, she would go to the range with me during one of my four visits a year.

My mother was old school, as a matter of survival she would have shot his ass dead had he took that one step,my father taught her how to aim and fire and not to be scared of a gun but to respect it treat it with care and take care of it and it will take care of you.That is the difference between a sheep and wolf.
