Arrest Imminent?
- Police were questioning a man Saturday in connection with the double slaying of a Chicago police officer and a DCFS supervisor, sources told the Tribune. Police picked up the man Saturday morning after three days on the trail of an alleged robbery crew investigators suspect committed the murders, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation.

This crime is going to get solved and at the least the shooter will be charged if not two of the three. One will probably be witness. Great job by all dicks involved running with the tip.
Hopefully, a post can be run later about how the demasculinization/deballing of this department is getting our brothers and sisters killed both on duty and off. Being the touchy, feely police while encountering pure filth while on duty recently costs us the life of one of our brothers. And now the absurd suggestion of not carrying your gun off duty, or keeping it locked in your car while you are out may have contributed to the loss of another. True. Guys from Area 4 on it from minute one have identified shooter. Byrne and other involved bosses aided greatly by offering assistance but staying out of the way. Dicks from 4 have done the department proud. Old school fantastic.

It was Maher and the upper echelon that demanded that all these outside units and areas assist us from jump street which turned into a complete out of control circus. The command to do what is right is spoken to us all. It's a command that 99.9% of CPD obey and fulfill every day, for themselves, their loved ones, and the citizens. If the criminal population would only start to do what is right, to turn away from evil, it would be the beginning of a journey towards truth, honor, and justice.
Today, here, in North Carolina, our parish prays for peace and justice for the Romberg and Soto families, close members and extended, for their friends, and for the Officers that are working so hard to bring that justice to reality.

I had to supervise a traffic accident investigation where an off-duty C.P.D. Officer was killed on his motorcycle about 5 years ago. The street Deputy that night was Tom Byrne, and I have never met a more down-to-earth and genuine Exempt member. In my 22 years, I can say about 90% of the exempts I've dealt with were pompous asses. Chief Byrne could teach our higher-ups a thing or two on how to treat Officers decently and with respect. Gla to see he's still a perfect gentleman! Thanks Boss!!

Let's get it straight..............there was a lot of hard work done by a lot of good POLICE.........whiched helped Area Four.............. Area Four Detectives did a greatttttttt job in the investigation, and I give them credit...they stood with it....from the time it happened to the time it was charged. Great work....... the bosses stood out of the way................. Having worked on both investigations....it made a big difference!!!!! For those of you who don't know the real deal... on both cases.....keeep your mouth shut...... Bottom line......this j o killed two people.......he's in custody..charged....... to bad he didn't meet his maker!!!!!!!!!! Keep all your other bull crap to your self..............Some time you guys r worse than the media...get the facts straight before you open your mouth.....tuff guy.
To the person who mentioned the Vasquez murder.
The problem was micromanaging by cline, maher and cronin. No fan of peterson but he was bombarded with orders from all of them.

All I read on this board is "what's the FOP doing for me, they do nothing" etc. blah blah. Then, police being police, a one dollar or two dollar per month dues increase comes along and people want to revolt and overthrow the union. And this is likely from the same people who never in their careers attended any meetings or actually helped out. I have seen first hand that most whiners and complainers about the FOP do not have any real grasp of what the issues actually are or what the FOP actually gets accomplished.
I'm just tired of reading all the complaints from people who have no desire to help make a difference. Where were all the complainers when they could have run for office? Where were they when they had a chance to make their wishes known before the contract negotiations began?
At election time there are several thousand ballots that never get returned, and they have stamped addressed envelopes in them. All it takes is to mark them and drop them in the mailbox. Of course there wasn't viable alternatives to vote for because NO ONE CARED ENOUGH TO ORGANIZE A SLATE OF CANDIDATES TO RUN FOR OFFICE.
Except the present regime.
Don't like the present regime? Then start doing some organizing and be ready when the next union elections for office come around in spring 2011 and present a complete slate of people. Then when you get into office you will realize what it is like to deal with the City of Chicago and Richard Shortshanks when you have no power to strike or hold any job actions.

That is an interesting link. I did not know Jason Mueller, but a close friend of mine did and she is extremely broken up by it. If anyone has any info they can pass along, would you? I'd like her to hear SOMETHING positive about the investigation.
