Suburban Shooting, Cop OK
Once again, anyone who has a condescending attitude toward our suburban brothers and sisters really ought to realize that this crap surfaces everywhere at some point:
One man was killed and a Skokie police officer was injured in a possible shootout Monday night in Lincolnwood.
About 5 p.m., Lincolnwood fire responded to a Skokie officer injured after being involved in a chase that ended near North Kilpatrick and West Estes avenues, according to a Lincolnwood fire commander.
The commander said someone fired shots at the officer, but the officer was not shot. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston to be treated for some injury, the commander said.
Wishing a speedy recovery to the officer.

Saw this story on the Channel 9 News at 9 p.m. I almost choked on my beer when they reported that the as-of-that-time unidentified bank robber that was killed by police was...drumroll, please..."an African American male". I'd like to believe that the media disclosing the race of offenders might be an emerging trend. I know, I know. Wishful thinking.

Skokie Cop is fine..Thank God. Just went in for a check up afterwards. S*#t head from Evanston, robs a bank in Northbrook. Skokie spots him and follows waiting for back-up. Bad guy stops suddenly and jumps out with two guns. He got off about ten rounds before his gun jammed. Squad Car took a couple rounds but all else is good. The Skokie Cop, who I know well, gets FOURTEEN rounds into the asshole! HE GONE !Two head shots, the rest were all center mass.I'm sure the fine City of Evanston will miss this resident, and all that he contributed. Get out the mylar balloons, teddy bears, and poster boards!

I am glad the Skokie PO survived the fatal encounter but I am pissed that the media treats Chicago PO's like shit.
The Skokie Cop, who I know well, gets FOURTEEN rounds into the asshole! HE GONE !Two head shots, the rest were all center mass.I'm sure the fine City of Evanston will miss this resident, and all that he contributed. Get out the mylar balloons, teddy bears, and poster boards!

So does that mean that Skokie makes their PO's qualify more often, or does this guy take the time to go practice, cause THAT my friends is one hell of a great shot, especially while under fire!

The headline should be:
POLICE OFFICER SURVIVES ATTACK FROM ARMED offender WHO ATTEMPTED TO KILL HIM BY SHOOTING AT THE OFFICER WITH A HANDGUN.
During the ATTACK on the OFFICER the offender died DUE TO his actions.
This is how crimes against the POLICE should be reported.

I couldn't agree with you more...I was watching this story on the news last night and the media treats a suburban shooting completely different than a city shooting. They even called the dead robber the offender and not a victim of police gunfire..good job by the SkoPO though

One of the shots to the extremities took the offenders hand off...gun and all! No lie.
This Skokie copper undoubtedly shoots better than 85% of our CPD SWAT guys. And I bet the Skokie guys wouldn't refuse to take a picture in uniform with a little kid at Portillos, making the kid cry uncontrollably. CPD SWAT = ASSHATS.

The reason the the news media reported this one different than a "city shooting" is because the Skokie media officer had the balls to come out right away and say the guy robbed a bank and weapons and proceeds recovered. Kinda hard to say Skokie Po po planted ten grand cash on the bad guy along with three guns

Scary thing is that you are not an investigator.People dont always fall down like they do in the movies like some big magnet pulled them down.
Skokie cop probably perceived the guy to be still a threat and just unloaded on him,pretty easy to get off that many rounds quickly.
I can lock the slide back on my 1911a1 and get hits(8 out of 8) in 1.2 seconds.

The scary thing is how quickly you jump to conclusions and how off base they are. First off actually I am an investigator, second I know well that one round is somtimes not enough just as well as sometimes fourteen rounds may not be enough. Third, the only point I was trying to make is that vast majority of coppers using .45 say that they use it because of its stopping power. Skokie copper was shooting full size Glock .45. When the bad guy was down and out the copper was on his third magazine. Now sit down quietly in a corner and think how many rounds that is. Hopefully you pack more than two spare mags for your 1911 while on duty, and you can change them fast. We already know you can unload them pretty fast.
