Supervisors to be Written up?

- I heard something very interesting today. The focus of Inspectors is going to shift towards writing up supervisors instead of P.O.'s! Uniform infractions and staying down on jobs, etc, is going to be addressed with the bosses because there is a general feeling that sergeants and even Lieutenants have ceased taking any kind of supervisory actions. A few "failure to supervise" beefs might make everybody's lives a bit more miserable.
How is this going to play out? We had one e-mail describing how an Inspector wrote up a Sergeant at a crime scene because of "improper taping" of the inner and outer perimeters. Sounds like a brilliant ploy to unite everyone against the City.

This ploy ONLY works if the Inspector writes up both the officer and the supervisor. Otherwise every cop who has a jagoff supervisor will go out of their way to be seen by an Inspector with some kind of infraction. So the supervisor would be written up! What a way to get back at some of those asshole bosses!
Hopefully they will get that cocksucker know it all Sgt on 3rd watch in 014.
Big bird was 019 today and spent a few hours in the parking lot checking cars.

It's about time! A lot of infractions seen out there among the rank &file are directly related to poor supervision. If someone looks like a slob or spends far too much time down on a routine assignment, the Sgt. Should have noticed it sometime during the tour. You want to wear the stripes, do the job.
Whoever is advising the Brass of this dept is a fool. Threats, Threats, and more threats. That isn't going to work in a gov't job where we have protections and decent job security.
I for one was willing to give J-Fraud a chance when he took over the dept. I gave him a no confidence vote before typing this. J-Fraud you have no idea what you are doing nor do you understand what is wrong this dept.
I will give you a clue. Long before you arrived on the scene the pot was simmering just about ready to boil. Cozzi, The Media, No Contract, and Clout ruling the day for far to long have spilled througout the dept and caused a revolt. The working officers of this dept had been saying for a long time especially on this blog that things needed to be changed. Thas has not happened. The faces may have changed at the top but the game is still the same.
Please take this advice J-Fraud.
Go to a dist and ask a supervisor who some of the good police officers are on their watch or log. Pull those officers aside and ask them what is needed to make their jobs better and what is wrong with the dept. A good officers will give you an honest answer and won't just say give me a raise. The only officers who will do that haven't made a proactive arrest in years.
There are working officers in every dist and unit in this city that would like to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

it wouldn't be a first... A long while ago when a certain LT. was a sergeant (at sos), that sergeant was written up for not keeping up with his log. The Numb-nut sgt then decided that he'll finally keep his log current. A couple of days later the same Inspector stopped to check the sgt's log. Well the sgt kept his log current and still got "gigged". Turns out that the sgt kept a log of what HE was doing ie. street stops, lunch, calls responded to...etc. The sgt didn't figure out that he was supposed to keep a log on what his guys were doing and where.
I got a million of them....

OK.OK! IT's partially the fault of the SGTS out there why, because the young SGTs. want to be cool like the PO's and when they are out and off duty he can mesh with his counterparts. I'm an older Sgt. who takes pride in being in the right uniform and being shaven and on time. You new folks are great and do go out and work in the busy districts, but some of you young people think that you are still in college and come and go as you please, but look ahead, we are all adults and have responsibilities, we make good money, not great money but we have to do our job, You young ladies that gain a few ounds need to but some uniforms that fit, you men need to buy some shirts that still have some color left to them, and yes we older Sgts. get on you guys and girls for some little things, but rest asure, I will be there for you, If i have to argue for you with some boss, i will, I don't have long to go and I have found that working with working Cops is still fun for me, No I have never been an inside person, I have worked outside forever and do my best to help out, I stop when I see cops pull over a car or in confrontation. We must always win the battle and I will help anyone out of a jam if needed. As a sergeant who belongs to the K.M.A. club and one that never let his stripes screw up his head; if I get written up for some bull- shit it will mean war. I look at my job as a spot where I can help my brother officers out of jams and send them home safely at the end of the day. I'm just glad to see them show up at roll call since we are so dam shorthanded and have been for years. In my district we get banged by the dispatchers to answer jobs all day long when we're not backing up someone else. Got no problem backin up my brothers but hey J-Fed give us some help.

Other bosses said she's been in a very foul mood since the week started. Guess they are looking at Supervisor discipline as a way of showing they are cracking down and doing their jobs. Being a sergeant is one of the hardest jobs in this department. It just plain sucks! You get screwed from the top-down and the bottom-up. Having said that, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Most sergeants routinely overlook minor infractions (the BS inspectors write up PO's for) simply because they know what you go through each and every day.
So to whomever posted the above: Will you personally and unconditionally support any sergeant that writes YOU up for the same petty BS inspectors do?
If you would, then I commend you and respect your integrity.
If not, you are a complete and utter hypocrite so STFU!

OT- heard that CPS and Park District have recently had CLEAR System installed on computers to enable the administration to log in the hours of off duty po's and send them directly to CPD administration. G.O. states that as a p.o. you are not allowed to work more than 20 hours a week on secondary employment which includes any special employment

I have yet to run into this "Big Bird", but after reading your post, I now know the identity of the jerk that has been mentioned so many times on the blog. I can now connect a face with the name of "Big Bird".
You are right, as a Desk Sergeant he was a condescending, vindictive, petty, sour-faced jerk, but he was not developing to be an asshole. He was acting no different than he did as a P/O in 009. He was an asshole long before becoming a boss, but being a boss just gave him a platform to inflict his shit ways on more people.
When he made Sergeant, I wondered how the fuck this jerk did it. Now, I know. Thanks for clearing up a 20 year old mystery. It must be true because I cannot imagine this guy making it on the legit. And describing him as having the people skills of a dishrag is a most accurate comment.

If supervisors did their jobs properly there would be no reason to have inspectors.
