No one is custody at last report. Shoulder wound:
- A police officer was shot while on duty in the Pilsen neighborhood early Friday morning, police said.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. near 18th Street and Washtenaw Avenue while officers were investigating a report of shots fired, police said.
Additional shots were fired, and one of the officers was struck in the shoulder, police said.

Officer was shot while guarding the crime scene in an alley where another shooting had taken place. While on scene, the officer was shot by an unknown offender who fired from an unknown location. P.O. is actually a recruit with barely a month on the street. These fucks are getting bolder and ballsier by the minute!!!!

I have been brain storming this for some time. As a west side copper I never really cared to much about policies, procedures. I distinguished this with not commiting a crime. I could handle a few days suspended, but on all out criminal act, well no need to answer that.
Point: I respect the position our fellow officers are taking, in regards to not engaging the street criminals. Work reduction to make an impact and letting the boss know who really runs the city. But please note.
If we do not take back the sreets, we will have enboldened the enemy and more of our officers will get hurt or killed. It's a double edged sword. But at the end of the day we must let these thugs know who runs the city. Lets not be the New Orleans of the Midwest.
My prayers are with the Officer on a speedy recovery. It's time we all get together and take back the streets and put these pieces of sh*t where they belong - in the ground!

Also prisoner escaped from an MSF Sergeant in 011. Sgt was supposed to be watching prisoner and he left her alone only to come back and find she slipped the cuffs and walked out. We will see how the bosses react. SGT is a goof and has no business in a unit anyways. Worse than a PPO on the radio and does nothinig but DUI's. He belongs back in 10 writing DUI's not in MSF. What a tool. At least 2hrs later he stood up and took the heat. 2HRS LATER

Crime scene P.O. was guarding was on the sidewalk but the shots came from somewhere around the alley. The P.O. is on his second cycle. Four officers there..... thank God it wasn't worse.

Because our mayor decided not to salt the streets, two responding units were involved in two separate one-car collisions sliding on ice with two officers hurt in each. All went home thank God.

With murders up 16 percent, Chicago Police officials today announced they are launching a second Mobile Strike Force unit to work in high-crime neighborhoods.
As of this morning, there were 487 murders in Chicago, according to figures released today. There were 421 at the same time last year, police said.
While there were 184 fewer shootings in November when compared to the same month last year, violent crime is up 3.5 percent and property crime is up
3.7 percent, the department said.
The department launched the Mobile Strike Force in October to replace the Special Operations Section, which was shut down last year after the arrests of several officers for robbing and kidnapping citizens.
"Our top priority is to target the gangs and dismantle their criminal enterprises so that they can no longer spread violence," Supt. Jody Weis said in a statement.
Like SOS, the team is sent to high-crime areas to suppress crime.
Since deploying the new unit under a new commander, unit officers have seized 26 guns and arrested 200 people, including 74 street gang members.
The officers have been working on the far South Side in the Calumet and Gresham districts. The number of murders in Calumet dropped in November, according to the latest statistics.
The new strike force team will do an "outdoor roll call" tonight at Fulton and Laramie in the Austin District on the West Side.

Watch for the Personnel Division to tack on to the end of his probation all the time he was out due to the IOD, rehab, etc.
Watch the Committee on Finance to send him a letter in 6 weeks stating that he wasn't doing a police related function and they won't count it as an IOD, nor pay the bill---like they do 95% of the other IOD incidents.

I don't know about offenders either, but there have been at least 30 incidents at the 111th Street Branch. Losses anywhere from 600-2000 dollars. They are accessing the accounts through debit cards.

We had stand up bosses in the past. No such thing as violation of civil rights. We also had a real SOS. Today, the fear of feds and poor leadership has destroyed any proactive police work by street officers. Duggans was a great place bu now everyone is anxious to catch a walking DUI. Times have changed and P.O.'s are in protective mode.

Went to roll call today in 008 on third watch and not one word was uttered about the p.o. or his condition or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Don't you think that should be the first thing mentioned at roll call, instead we heard about another meeting going on downtown. Who the f%^$ cares? Roll-call should be about officer safety and arming officers with knowledge of crime patterns or wanted offenders or at the very least an update on how one of your brothers in blue is doing after being shot. Also prisoner escaped from an MSF Sergeant in 011. Sgt was supposed to be watching prisoner and he left her alone only to come back and find she slipped the cuffs and walked out. Laws should be passed that once the city hits a certain level of violence, a new level of enforcement is mandated/triggered.
Just ignorant brainstorming here, but it seems to me that once crime is out of control to this degree, coppers should be legally allowed to take it to a separate, not quite martial law level. Allowed to make the street stops that you can't now, police safe from prosecution, check citizenship, etc....I'm wording everything wrong, but hope my point is heard. Nothing would work long term unless courts become tougher & prisoners had to pay their way through prison.

As to working out south!!!!!!!!!!! Shit the only night they have worked out south was halloween. Otherwise they have been over here on the westside with me and the boys. Especially for the last 3 weeks.
I am not part of MSF nor do I wish to be. I am very happy pushing my cd car w/ sun/mon's off in the ghetto. MSF is a work in progress from what I am hearing and I believe in is needed. Unlike TRU that is pretty much a waste of manpower. MSF has 3times the guns tru had in that same time period with half the manpower. They are also gettig a ton of extra training. Sure after seeing the second transfer order to MSF it really has me wondering what is going on there. The first order had an average of 8yrs or so. This last order CHOSEN BY AN EX 10th District Sergeant NOW LT OF MAYBE 6 MOS has about 15 guys from 10th District including a whole gang team. It also has about 10 3 yr wonders and about 25 with under 4 yrs. That alone has to say something....... The senority and lack of experience and the same ol' same ol' process is going to be the units demise yet again from the top down. Lets not even get into how many Sgt's have less than a yr experience on the street in that unit(and we already know 1 of the 2 LT's has less than 6mos as an LT ). For god's sake they already had a prisoner escape from a SGT.
Just more and more of the same of the blind leading the blind and the 3yr wonders swallowing every word of the supervisors. WE will only see what happens. So far impressed with the first platoon, but time will only tel what happens to the new kiddie unit.

I think the point was that Chicago/Illinois is ground zero for sleazy back room politics. I realize that Bush is responsible for all the world's ills (including natural disasters). This year of 2008 - the most Homicides in Chicago in a long time. Going to pass 500. I'll bet this year I hate to say, the most police involved shootings ever. It's a war zone out there and the Dept, Supt Weis and Mayor Daley can give a rats ass about public safety let alone officer safety. No manpower, no back-up, all time low morale, no contract, faulty equipment, out of date equipment, unsafe equipment and stations. Off topic kinda but great job by 14Tact working with Fugitives to capture one of the offenders who robbed and attempted to kill an off duty police officer and his girlfriend in 025. Dude was hanging out at Potomac and Pulaski dealing everyday and never got picked up by 25. Hey guys when the police get messed with we need to stay on top and keep hunting until we get our guy. Second offender Darryl Stewart still out there possibly in a money green cutlass or a pearly white cutlass staying out south but still deals on the west side. Dets were able to get robbery and attemtp murder of a peace officer charges. Thanks also to the ASAs

UNRELATED: Rumors spreading that a mother/daughter team of identity theives have been working at the Patrolmans Credit Union. Mother is an employee, daughter was caught using info. Many P.O.s accounts affected. Anyone have info?
I dont have any info about possible offenders but I can tell you that the credit union has had a huge up tick in financial ID theft type problems. I was the 8th person last week alone to be affected from the north side branch.

I don't know about offenders either, but there have been at least 30 incidents at the 111th Street Branch. Losses anywhere from 600-2000 dollars. They are accessing the accounts through debit cards.

Why did the City block the chicagocop.com web site. It was a great tool to use complaints, 101's, reporting guide, etc. It is blocked due to porn? Another useful tool taken away.

The officer who put that site (and the book) together did it on his own time and his own dime. The book is ten or 11 dollars and it's great. Very typical of the department to shut off access. Why would they want to give access to something that helps the street cop? Maybe those useless fucks In R+D and whatever they call our "computer innovations" section are embarrassed. They should worry more about getting working, up to date computers for us to use on the street, then about a site where we can find something like pre-printed complaints and other resources.

You never left a prisoner alone in a room? You never asked another Officer you did not know to watch your prisoner, only to return and find the Po left? You never had your partner be sent home because the WC said only One Po could stay on over-time? You never had to do three things at once and two of those things were away from the processing area? You ever been in a station were 5-10 coppers were standing by an interview room and no one seen a civilian walk through, much less stop and questioned him/her? You must have never worked in a busy District or done any police work. Please be quiet, your comments are showing your lack of real police experience in Chicago.........

NEVER and I have 15 yrs on and still work in the ghetto. I have a bunch a ribbons and photos woth the big guys too so don't tell me I have never done any work. My boots have more time on the job than you. There is never a valid reason to do anyone of those things. They are flat out unsafe If you weren't a 3 yr wonder you would know that it is against general orders to have only 1 person per prisoner.
