How Illinois Works

Follow the Money:
  • Facing questions from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, former Tollway director Brian J. McPartlin decided not to take a job with a politically connected engineering consulting firm.

In October, McPartlin, 42, quit the Tollway job, with plans to join Chicago's McDonough Associates, a firm that has received $39 million in Tollway contracts since 2002.

McPartlin had asked for a waiver of the "revolving door prohibition" that requires state officials to wait a year before taking a job with a company they hired or regulated. Madigan asked the state Ethics Commission to delay the waiver, so her office could collect more information.

This guy is joining a company that got $39 million in Tollway contracts while he was in charge of the Tollways? Does anyone even think avoid even the appearance of impropriety? He applied for (and later withdrew) a request to waive the one year waiting period to join the company?

Illinois politics stinks to high heaven.

One, he's either on the short list to be indicted, or two, he's figured out it's only a few short months to the one-year mark, anyway.

I sorta think there won't be too many of those 'connected' road construction deals coming down the pipeline for awhile, regardless. You just never know who's phone is tapped, eh?

Well it has already been pointed out that the Madigans, the mells and Blagos, daleys, strogers are all crooked as hell. It amazes me how Illinois has the dumbest voters.

LISA MADIGAN is crying 'wolf' on BLAGO yet wants to be considered as possible replacement for either governor or senate seat. madigan comes from a long time government family who should have been the whistleblower to give herself more credence...just like all the other il politicians who 'know' how the inside game is played. if the fbi had wiretapped her, who knows what that would reveal. if anyone should be pointing fingers at blago, it should NOT be another il politician...WHAT A FARCE. SEE BELOW:

Appearing with Quinn on the show, fellow Democrat Atty. General Lisa Madigan, whose father is Illinois House speaker and state Democratic Party chairman, once again declined to rule out accepting an appointment to the Senate.

Appearing with Quinn on the show, fellow Democrat Atty. General Lisa Madigan, whose father is Illinois House speaker and state Democratic Party chairman, once again declined to rule out accepting an appointment to the Senate

Her reluctance to take herself out of consideration presents an added political dimension as she urges the Illinois Supreme Court to remove Blagojevich from office at least temporarily and put Quinn in charge, which could allow him to make the Senate appointment.

Daddy wants Lisa as governor, Lisa wants to be senator with an eye to a run for the White House. If the messiah steps into it, she could run in 2012 or 2016 if he makes it through two terms.

fitz dropped the ball. i now believe he stopped the investigation before he caught to many politicians.

if he kept going he would have nabbed jessie sr, jessie jr, the brother jackson, the pritzker, and god knows who else.

claim is he had to act before ob's replacement was announced (sold). who cares? if the replacement bought the seat just arrest and charge that person.

who knows it could have reached the white house if allowed to continue.

someone shut down the investigation. who and why?

fitz u were used like a $5 whore.

don't you feel dirty?

How many Illinois lawmakers do you think knew how Blagojevich did business and knew of his misdeeds yet they did nothing but dig in their heels and stall state business?

Blagojevich didn't operate in a vacuum, others knew, at least patty, his chief of staff, those around him, others knew. Still, no one did anything.

Fitzgerald is right, we can't wait for the next Federal wiretap to come along to catch our corrupt elected officials. People who know what is going on must drop that dime.

Certainly Fitzgerald has informants who gave testimony and sworn statements in front of a judge in order to get a wiretap and a bug on a sitting US governor. Someone had the nerve and testicular virility to come forward to help stop Blagojevich. Thank God for whoever it was. We need more people like that, the US Attorney cannot do it alone.

Keeping silent in the face of corruption is no virtue.

Lisa Madigan, a total do - Nothing, and tool of her Daddy Mike, would love to get into the Governorship, so they together can continue to Loot the Taxpayers with their Shitcago DemocRAT style shell games. Demand a new election for Governor. Pat Quinn
[lt. Gov] knew this BLAGO stuff was going on, but said nothing to Federal Authorities, showing his true character. It will all be a scam unless Patrick Fitzgerald can watch every aspect of Chicago/Crrok County/ State of Smellinois elections, and jail all that violate our Laws.

the theft is so blatant in Il. and Chicago government that there is no masking or hiding it. The malfeasance by Mr.B.J. McPartlin is blatant and open because this is business as usual in these parts. He wants a waiver of a one year wait to accept a job from a company he gave 39 million in state contracts to and accept a position for aapproximately $500,000. Looks like ... smells like...
There are not enough Fitzgeralds and Madigans for the likes of the theft in this state.

While political squabbling may seem a small matter, payments to Medicaid patients, hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes and schools numbering in the billions of dollars remain outstanding pending short-term borrowing efforts by the state. At issue is the requirement that Madigan certify borrowings to be free of any legal proceedings detrimental to state administration, which Madigan, for obvious reasons, refuses to sign off on in the face of the current crisis. It would be understating the matter to suggest that Madigan is manipulating the issue for her own personal gain. Holding Illinois as a fiscal hostage in pursuit of the cold sushi of political revenge for a thousand Blago slights is only mildly "you-stay-classier" than Rod's increasingly apparent "hold out to the last bullet" psychosis.

The crisis means that everything from food deliveries to prisons, gasoline for state troopers, or health care services that rely on state reimbursements could be frozen, and firms with significant state revenues and limited liquidity might have to shut their doors or file for protection from their creditors.

Is there any conceivable way that Chicago (and cRook Co.) can secede to the State of Indiana?

If Lake Co., Illinois joins in the secession, how about the State of Wisconsin?

I CAN'T STAND THESE FILTHY DEMOCRATIC POLITICIAN COCKSUCKERS!

If Illinois insists on keeping limited access to Lake Michigan and the Port of Chicago (formerly Lake Calumet), let them keep everything south of 35th St. and east of Halsted St. to the south boundary of the county line(except Hegewisch, Indiana).

Described in a 2004 Chicago Sun Times article as someone Barack Obama regularly seeks out for "spiritual counsel", James Meeks, who will serve as an Obama delegate at the 2008 Democratic convention in Denver, is a long-time political ally to the democratic frontrunner

Since that time, not only has Meeks himself served on Obama's exploratory committee for the presidency and been listed on the Obama's campaign website as one of the senator's ‘influential black supporters', but his church choir was called on to raise their voices in praise at a rally the night Obama announced his run for the White House back in 2007.

NOTE:
Interestingly, the Chicago Sun Times has also reported that both MEEKS and OBAMA share a history of substantial campaign contributions from indicted real estate magnate TONY REZKO.

During President-elect "zero's" Democrat nomination coverage on C-Span I called in and got on air.

They seemed excited to hear from some one calling in from Chicago.

Expressed that I would like to see a Contract With America outline from both candidates. Then I started to say, "One thing we DONT need is Cook County politics in Washington D.C.".

I'm pretty sure I was disconnected before I could get that out.

The media are worse whores then the poly-tick class.

They could sniff around and get dirt on Jim Ryan from his sealed divorce transcripts but they couldn't find Revrum Wright hawking his ridin dirty sermons on the church web site or in the church lobby.

Now they print shit quoting people saying that retard Blago (btw I got a mentally challenged brother and he's got more sense then Blago) didn't actually receive monies for Presiden-elect Obama's senate seat -- he just talked about it and the media never calls those out saying such crap.

IT IS FELONIOUSLY wrong--period to simply offer for sale a senate seat.

If a kid just talks about doing a Columbine attack, we don't stand around holding our dick's in our hands saying, "Well nothing has actually happened-- yet."

We need to tell these liberal fucks wrong is wrong.

Lisa Madigan is permanently tainted by her stepfather Michael Madigan's years of corruption. I remember having to strong-arm consultants for my downtown Chicago real estate developer employer each year to buy "Madigan Dinner" tickets. Mandatory for all project managers. One consultant told me "we don't participate in graft". Wow! Here I thought I was just performing in accordance with my job description!

Why can't media publish that background? Remind us stupid voters of the dynastic history of so many of our politicians!

And, note that New York Times has a front-page analysis today, noted that Blago's wiretape conversations don't constitute corruption - just hubris. Anyone else think that Fitzgerald's wiretap investigation was prematurely STOPPED because it was getting too close to Daley and/or Obama administrations? I expect that at minimum Rahm Emmanuel will need to step down from Chief of Staff, because he appears too tainted w/Blago ties, Daley ties, DiLeo ties, etc. "Change Candidate"? With Emmanuel, Duncan, Jarrett, and the other coattail-riding politicians? Sorry no can do!
