Cop Stabbed

  • A Chicago police officer was injured in a stabbing on the West Side this evening during a domestic disturbance, police said.

The officer responded to a call for help at about 6:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, said Chicago Police Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.

The call turned out to be a domestic disturbance, and the offender confronted the officer with a weapon and "punctured" him, Ursitti said.
"Punctured" him? What is he, a freaking balloon? He got stabbed. We don't care if it was a box cutter, a steak knife or an ice-pick. Let's not play games with semantics sarge, he got stabbed.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Officer.

UPDATE: Second guessing will not be published, as per the usual rule.

Everybody relax, they are not downplaying the stabbing. In the medical community, wounds are classified into three different types: when the skin is torn, cut, or punctured.

On the other hand, news affairs should have related to the media that he was stabbed.

Best wishes to the office.

I agree,,,a stabbing is a stabbing.

At least the good Sergeant didn't say he was cut, like some of our dispatchers say.

I also like it when the dispatchers say "victim was jumped on by his baby's mama's new baby daddy" (I actually heard this on Zone 6)

Please do us a favor do not say shit to the media!
You are not the police and have never been the police.
So if you want a job reporting, please go and apply at one of the cop hating stations. Besides I'm sure we could use a street sgt. not another voice for the haters!

Question ?

When the officer was stabbed did felony review approve charges or did they fuck around again and play ?

" we'll i'm not going to reject or approve
so i'll hang up "

a knife can fuck you up good. be careful out there offices. glad the p.o. is doing well. that piece of shit better of gotten felony agg battery charges approved but knowing our cook county felony review, the officer probably had to fight tooth and nail on something that should be automatic.

OT:

The tribune posted the mugshots of the three offenders arrested.

You got to hand it to Area 4 lockup. They move the most prisoners BY FAR and they still take the clearest mugshot photos of any Area in the city.

Look at Area 2 mugshots. Most of them are from the waist up, out-of-focus, with the offender obviously in mid-sentence as the camera flashes.

Thanks Dr. Science, but a stab wound is a puncture wound. Being stabbed with something creates the puncture, or stab wound.

So, how is that being downplayed?

Back in October, this POS was charged with battery to a PO, resisting and domestic battery (for stabbing his momma, the same victim from this incident). WTF was he doing back on the street?

At least the ASA had some balls and approved Attempt Murder charges.

what do you expect this sgt from news affairs been a sgt for a year and only has six years on. Never was close enough to an offender herself so how can she tell it how it is... However, God Bless the officer and god speed.

The military has five classifications for types of wounds.

abrasions
crushed
lacerations
incisions
punctures

for some reason they dont include burns, who knows why.

... the real question is why the hell do we need a "felony review unit" in cook county anyway? charge the asshole offender according to the law & make that prick stand before a judge to give account for him/herself. fuck the bullshit faxes & phony assed phone calls; just a waste of time, energy & papaer. fru is just another place to hide friends & family of the combine who were borderline law school bust-outs... "yeah, 4 heads in a car, one bailed, ya got 3 and there was a tech-9 wedged grip-up between the driver & passenger front seat and accessable to all occupants in the vehicle... no felony for you officer!" plus they are vindictive, you get an override on that ass & they will try to shit can every case you bring to court... doesn't matter how tight your paper is & i refused to engage in "creative writing" because of fru... they're not worth it, nor are they worth the ink on their lawyerin' papers... gfy with maximum prejudice. it must be nice to cherry-pick what you want to run with.

Former wagon guy......

The Area 4 lockup is good with the exception of the midnight crew. They are some of the laziest human beings I've ever seen. Keep you waiting and hide behind their paper wall to catch 20 more minutes of sleep. It's been that way for years. Clear pictures are great but there is a time and a place where you want the photo to be out of focus.
