Those who'd like a slight preview of what we're speaking of, we located part of Mr. Osborne's corruption allegations and his research into some of the how and why of Chicago corruption at this link here. Yes, we realize it's The Reader, but comments #5 and 6 delineate corruption, name names and explains how the "connected" few scam tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of services over the years.

Frustrating times for all us.
I would like to request that all bosses and their merit suck ups stop reading the blog and start doing there jobs better. The blog is for the peons to vent and expose corruption. All bosses are assholes although this new generation is exceptionally retarded.
Hearing them whisper SCC gossip in their offices and their meetings echoing empty comments while trying to contradict the simple logic of a street cop is pathetic.
The best is yet to come. Next year I expect to see new names on the command roster.

I wish there could be connections made between political figures and some of our double and even triple merit promoted lieutenants. I can think of only 1 merit LT in the last 5 or 6 years that knows this job, and he is currently in A4. A few REALLY stand out as unintelligent hacks who couldn't run a McDonald's, much less a Unit!

Forget it. After all, it's waaay more important that we know what kind of dog the Messiah is going to get for his kids, and that his babymomma-in-law is moving into the White House.
Folks, this world is spiraling out of control, but too many of us can't see it. We are soon going to experience the equivalent of a Perfect Storm as three things converge: Apathy, Corruption & Ignorance. It's going to hit us like the Great Depression & World War II hit earlier generations. The beginning of the end was the election of King Obama. The big question is: Will this country survive?
You don't need to put it in linkable form. I'm confident we'll be reading an "investigative report" in the Tribune in 3...2...1...
I'm getting sick to my stomach but first I have to check my water meter!

This political corruption among the aristocracy of Chicago, commonly known as a politician, simply seems culturally accepted. The voters continue to empower these families election after election. Rarely does a reformer get elected and when he does, his voice is drowned out by the pompous, self grandising, entitlement minded princes and princesses of Chicago politics.
The result of keeping the same families in power election after election is that most every municipal contractual deal, most every meritorious promotion or appointment (within and without CPD), is about pay to play. And behind all of these dysfunctional power moves is none other then King Daley.
Directly or indirectly, the political system known as the Machine functions because the King allows it to function and the serfs, also known as the citizens of Chicago, continue to re-elect this miserably inarticulate and corrupt man. His father did not put this system in place, but Richard J. perfected it.
Mike Royko was right when he said that the motto of the City of Chicago should be: Where's Mine?
This mentality is seen in the clout promotions in the department. Instead of getting the most qualified individual in a postion, someone is put in who did a favor for someone, who did a favor for someone, etc., or who knows someone, who knows someone, etc. This is seen all the way down to the cop who doesn't have enough time to bid for days, but has worked 2nd watch for 7 out of his/her 8 years on the job; or the house mouse who has spent 7 out 11 years on the job at the desk.
This whole system of taking care of someone and seeing that the "Where's mine?" question is answered to the satisfaction and personal enrichment of many has a life of its own. Greedy companies then feed this "machine" and the greedy companies know that they will get repayed from the public trough. The corruption it has spawned has become second nature to the politicians and bosses of CPD and the bosses of other city agencies.
I for one have no hope or belief that this will change. Despite the above, there are good cops, firemen, S&S workers, etc., who go out and try to do the right thing each day. Why? Because that is the way they were raised by their moms and dads. Too bad it is these good ones who get screwed in the end because they don't "pay to play". They simply try to do the next right thing.
And to see how it is that corrupt children become that way in look no further then the way they were raised. King Richard I and Richard II are a prime example.
Please SCC keep this fraud posted on the blog. Thanx for informing us taxpayers who are consistently shortchanged by our elected officials. This is a travesty to all Chicago taxpayers, or at least the honest ones.
Now how can I NOT get a water bill for over 20 years and have high powered position in the city?

Use of more taxpayer money to finance Mayor Richard Daley's Olympic dream was approved today by a key City Council panel.
Earlier in the bid process, city and bid team officials PLEDGED THAT NO TAXPAYER DOLLARS WOULD BE USED TO FUND THE GAMES.

JEEZZ... Get a grip. They already gave out the Golden Globes last night and you weren't even nominated!
Talk about the rantings of a Drama-Queen!!!
most single family residents don't have metered water. they get a flat rate per year ($137 annually average).
However, multi-unit and homes that have required replacement of outside water lines, such as new construction or renovations where the city inspectors order a replacement, will have metered water. Believe me, when YOU get a bill from the city for metered water, you will be yelling at the wife and kids for long showers.
MAYOR DALEY WANTS EVERY SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE WITHIN THE NEXT TEN YEARS TO BECOME METERED.
SCC, have this guy be a regular contributor to your site!

Your going to see allot more of hidden secrets coming out with all the layoffs. Workers who played to play and still got fired or laid off are pretty pissed and I'm sure would spill the beans if a real investigative reporter started asking around.

Jim Osborne's full letter is in the comments section. Interesting reading and if all is correct, there is a major cover up afoot.
This was in the Sun Times in regard to the auditor getting fired by City Hall.
