Fire the Reformers

  • The man who took over Chicago's scandal-scarred Hired Truck Program when Mayor Daley needed it most has been fired from his $130,000-a-year city job.

Bob Benson, director of internal audit, said he was stunned when two unidentified men showed up at his DePaul Center office, 333 S. State, at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 29 and showed him the door.

Fire the people looking a little too closely at where the money goes.

How about a story like this to make 2009 a year to remember?
  • BALTIMORE — Mayor Sheila Dixon of Baltimore was indicted Friday, accused of stealing gift cards donated to the city for needy families and failing to report trips, fur coats and other luxuries paid for by a local developer who was her former boyfriend.
C'mon Fitz. Step it up.

Word from the detectives/ISP working the cases involving our Credit Union debit card fraud/thefts, is that this bitch Dixon is involved. Involved as in "Ringleader"-level! It seems that she has family and/or friends employed by various creditors linked to a majority of the Credit Unions affected. Stay tuned.

"The reason I was given is that the Office of Compliance wants to take internal audit in a different direction. I don't know why they'd want to do that. Our internal audit department had done a good job for the 5½ years I'd been there," said Benson, 63.

"We recovered a lot of money for the city. We helped out in improving internal controls within the departments. I was the project manager [for Hired Truck] after Angelo Torres was dismissed. We got the program cleaned up. We decided to terminate it and bring it back into the city. I just didn't anticipate this. I thought things were going fairly well."

Kind of answered his own question, eh?

Bean counters first followed by kiss asses and then the merit boys. Not one of them worth a shit running this dept into the ground.

Out-of-control violence and murders will skyrocket for 2010. Each month as the numbers climb. Watch these fuckers pucker up with anticipation.

They fired the reformer plus they tried firing the sexual harassment officer who leads investigations.

In these harassment cases, Shortshank's attorneys always secure a gag order.

The aldermen who sponsor the "clout boys" who think they can do anything also want to punish women who come forward.

What a bunch of scumbags I ended up working for. If I wasn't so close to a pension I'd quit.

I hope that those of you on the CPD end up getting a fair contract, but that's unlikely to happen with this unethical bunch that runs the show.

Maybe Lester Freamon's wire was the cause of Baltimore's mayor demise!

“Follow the drugs, and you’ll find dealers and users. Follow the money, and you have no idea where the case will take you.

I hope he walked right over to the Federal Building.

Or, maybe he had been there already, and had been wearing a wire for some time.

We can only hope.

Watch out for Patti.

By Leah HopeCHICAGO (WLS-TV) --

The governor's wife, Patti Blagojevich, is allegedly heard in the background of her husband's taped phone conversation, according to the criminal complaint.

She was awakened early Tuesday morning when Governor Rod Blagojevich was taken into custody at their Ravenswood Manor home.
Patti runs a real estate company, River Realty, from their home and over the years, there has been criticism about commissions she was paid by well-connected clients. Some of her recent actions and comments are included in Tuesday's complaint against her husband:
Regarding the Tribune's deal to sell the Cubs and the newspaper's editorial board, the complaint reads on November 3:
"During the call, Rod Blagojevich's wife can be heard in the background telling Rod Blagojevich to tell Deputy Governor A "to hold up that f***ing Cubs s***. . . f*** them."
"Later, Rod Blagojevich's wife got on the phone and, during the continuing discussion of the critical Tribune editorials, stated that Tribune Owner can "just fire" the writers because Tribune Owner owns the Tribune."

"Rod Blagojevich's wife stated that if Tribune Owner's papers were hurting his business, Tribune Owner would do something about the editorial board."

"She is part of the conversation with the governor and others making suggestions as to what should happen," said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald
On a conference call November 10 about appointing someone to the vacant Senate seat:

"Rod Blagojevich's wife suggested during the call that she is qualified to sit on corporate boards and has a background in real estate and appraisals.
"Rod Blagojevich asked whether there is something that could be done with his wife's "series 7" license in terms of working out a deal for the Senate seat."
"From the sound of it from this complaint, she seemed like a co-equal, co-conspirator," said Cindy Canary, Ill. Campaign for Political Reform.
Canary said while political spouses may be under more scrutiny in their business dealings, that scrutiny may be in the public's best interest.
"It is very difficult for them to carry on with their careers, and in many ways that's not fair, but the reason it's fair is because of some of the allegations we have seen today," said Canary.
Patti had said she would step back from real estate. River Realty is listed as a corporation in good standing with the secretary of state's office.
In September, Patti became the director of development at the Chicago Christian Industrial League. Her colleagues said she was not at work Tuesday but has been busy preparing to raise money for the nonprofit organization in the last few weeks.
