Wrong Plantiffs
If you have a beef with some perceived wrong, you need to run it with the best face possible. That isn't happening with the current lawsuit against the FOP:
- Cooper represents Raysurnet Morris and William Whitaker, who sued over the FOP's decision to cover Burge's legal bills after the union didn't pay for their lawyers, calling it unfair.
[...] Morris was fired by the Police Board in October for stalking a fellow officer between 2002 and 2005 and disobeying orders to stop it. The other officer was Ronald Holt, who was in the news in 2007 after his son was murdered on a CTA bus.
Whitaker was charged in 2005 with 21 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor. He was acquitted of the criminal charges, but an internal police investigation led to the loss of his badge.
And the kicker?
- When he was prosecuted on the sex charges in 2005, Whitaker didn't even ask the union to pay for his lawyers
This ambulance chaser sure picked the wrong two people to front for his attempt at jackpot justice - Crook County style.

Brendan Schiller, one of the lawyers suing, is none other than Alderman Helen Schillers son. That in itself should be an indication that this suit is going nowhere. The guy is a loser.

More lawsuits! What about the "queen of mean" who dumped her best friend from midway,best friend wins grievance,but miss ellyn is fighting to keep her out? What about Sgt Louie that was dumped,bid back in won bid but she will not let him back? Guess the extreme prejudice to hispanics is being shown. thhis is a huge lawsuit, miss ellyn will cost us bigtime in these tough economic times! She also attepted to dump our unit rep and failed, having to dump her friend as jeff has it going on! The struggle continues we shall overcome!
Oh and just a note no matter what is done we are battle hardened soldiers of the struggle and we will not wave the white flag sorry! Maybe the commnader will take a stand, and show streth where now all that is shown is weakness with this girl. We may wear a blue shirt but some if us actually have an education and brains to boot. its not the plaintifs but what i do ghave a beef is why are the fop paying for burge and not the rest of us. we should all get in on a class action lawsuit to stop it, that our money, he had his management people why dont they pay for it. in that case the fop should pay for everyone going through a trial now, wether its f---ed up not the point made is that if they are going to pay for , they better pay for everyone. we joined the union for representation and lately it seems that like theyre not doing much of anything for us, there is no excuse for the behavior of those cops but but also there is no excuse for the alledged behavior of burge. what im trying to say is that its wrong for them to do pay, does anyone else see anything wrong here?

Unfortunately, the poorly-worded Tribune story was linked on this blog. Referring to Holt first as "a fellow officer" and then as "the other officer" is a bit confusing, to say the least. Especially when the Trib writer crams in the part about Holt's son. I guess the copy editors were dozing.

How can these bosses go on. they cant even follow a contract. is there some way to find out what commanders / directors are the ones that have the most grievances, seems like my boss would be up there. Are grievances tracked / followed by the Superintendent ? Maybe the F.O.P. could keep a running total and post those numbers in the monthly newsletter.

I understand that Alderman OConnor (40)'s kid is the atty that is suing JA. Anyone see a pattern?
Burge knows where the bodies are. Daley was the SA. Donohue needs some point with Da Mayor. Get it yet??
Can someone please clarify why the FOP is representing Burge. Isn't he facing charges of perjury that he didn't commit while he was an officer? If the crime was committed after he retired, why should we pay a dime? And last time I checked doesn't he have a right to remain silent when being questioned by the FEDs? Who in their right mind today would choose to speak with the Feds when their being investigated. They never convict their high profile cases for the real offense. They also convict people for perjury and lying to a federal agent.
Why Cooper was allowed to teach criminal justice when he was a cop hater is beyond me.

Not sure who that is! my neighbor though went iod from midway,and schmitz sent an inspector to his house to check on him! She is mad from what I hear! Lots of problems at home I think!

Agreed! Worked in 008, she was there fucked that up, same in 009 now the airports! The funny thing is 2 other lts turned down the spot,then she was asked and took it right away,thinks she will get gold star like leo! Maybe she should get one and get her out of there! hear she ruined another place! worked special the other day seems even the sgts there are intimidated by her, why? The emperor has no clothes! Extremely poor manager,abosolutely no people skills, inspires no respect yea great boss! I think not!
