Arrest in Triple Killing

  • Chicago police on Thursday charged a reputed gang member who they believe used an assault rifle to fatally shoot three teenagers in the South Chicago neighborhood last week.

Martin Ybarra, 20, was charged with three counts of murder after help from the community led to his arrest Tuesday on the Southeast Side and he was identified by witnesses, police said.

  • Police may be looking for more suspects, officials said Thursday. The rifle believed to be tied to the murders was recovered, police said.
Now let's see if the ASA's can make it stick.

Hmmm. I see a GAPING HOLE in this case... Guns are illegal, so there is NO WAY this kid could have shot somebody!!

The media is trying to bury this case. Very little reporting about the arrest of the offender in the murder of three teen victims. Could it be because the victims were all black and the offender is Mexican. The media does not want to stur the pot on this one and have the South Side ablaze in black and brown gunfire.

This was an actual testament to sharing some info.... if we all worried a little less about getting that big pinch and a little more worried about helping the rest of our brothers we'd see a lot more success and we would seem a lot less like those pieces of shit we run down!!!!!

This guy was aquitted for a previous murder blocks from this incident occurred. I would not have wanted to be on the jury that handed down that verdict. But for him being cut lose, these kids might still be alive. However, it is the job of the state to prove their case. This is just SAD.

This is destined to become a classic legal precedent setting case, because not only are guns clearly illegal, but the crime also occurred in a "GUN FREE ZONE", (signs posted).

I believe these are both what is known as an affirmative defense in legal circles, BUT here is the kicker:

The sign declaring the area as a "GUN FREE ZONE" had recently been defaced by gunfire and was UNREADABLE... NOW WHAT?

Let's let the ambulance chasers sort this one out.

Don't count on it sticking, I heard the car he was allegedly in was in the body shop having work done, the owner an upstanding citizen will attest to this in court.. OOOps that was another high profile murder that was CI'd by the ASA office, guess admissions by the other offender's on scene don't matter.

Our friends at the scum-times reported that a gang officer heard someone mention the name "slim" and recognized the street name due to his knoweledge of the area. Good solid police work. Last i heard a bluelight camera couldn't interview people on the streets. A bluelight camera wouldn't know a street name. And a gang officer working HIS area heard a name and due to his knoweledge of said area, scum is arrested. Leave the gang teams in the areas where they have knoweledge of the players and more would get done. Simple, boots on-the-ground police work that Daley would never understand

Who cares about whether or not information was shared in this case.

What's much more important is that the PODs in the immediate area were in good enough position to capture images of the offender, making his apprehension a possibility.

Good job! Hopefully the charges stick. Seems to me the ASA's aren't approving charges lately.

Case in point: Victim gets shot in hand and positively identifies offender in photo array. P/O's arrest offender almost two weeks later, but ASA's drop offense to simple battery causing victim to leave Area pissed off! Supposedly because the victim had a background and the lazy fcuk of a P/O that had the paper wrote he was uncooperative at the hospital.

I told this story to a P/O and he told me that a victim was shot five times and the offender was caught and it too was dropped to a misdemeanor...judge looked puzzled too when it was presented at court...What the heck is going on?

It seems we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. How do we keep these shitheads off the streets and locked up if our own ASA's wont or can't approve charges?

Maybe the familys of the victims should sue Judge Clay for putting this rat back on the streets to kill their children.

once the kings catch whim of the witnesses supposedly being stones, they will [the kings] continue to come at the stones. the stones are no match for the kings in that area. the kings have a much farther reach, including how close they are too indiana and much more of ability to obtain firepower.

as for this being a brown/black thing. i don't think so. there are many blacks who are members of the latin kings, dragons and ambrose who live in that area.

if our bosses were smart [which they aren't] they'd keep TRU, saturation and any other units in 004 all summer. 004 is quickly becoming one of the most violent districts in the city. a lot of different gangs very close too each other and the narcotic trade has exploded over there.

Listen people.... numerous units contributed to the investigation, location of witnesses and capture of offender. This was all accomplished because of excellent inter-unit communication. Units involved: Area Two Dets, Gang Investigations, Gang Enforcement, 004 Tac, 004 Patrol, Fugitive Apprehension and probably some others I may have forgotten. This was a TOTAL Team effort. That's how CPD rolls. Always has been, always will be.
