Barely a year in office, Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis is again on the hot seat.
On Friday, he faces the City Council Committee on Police and Fire to answer questions about how a 14-year-old boy posed as a patrol cop for five hours on a recent weekend.

Okay spill it someone. Need verification and details. We're hearing the 008 district did a search warrant last night and got one half kilo and some guns and the bad guy. Funny thing was the bad guy's girlfriend was a loud mouth and she threatened to get the officers in trouble because its her mom's condo and her mom is a cop. A cop named Cuello that is! This has got to keep Weis and the mayor spinning!

Unreal, he basically stated that the USA is going to have a Depression worse than 1933, the entire world is heading there and it will make 1933 look pretty. This is all going to happen if the stimulus bill is not immediately passed.

in today's tribune weis directly states that the reduction in homicides is a result of the mobile strike force and had nothing to do with the brutally cold month we just experienced. looks like weis has just been put on an even shorter leash and when the city explodes in violence he will fall on the sword. you should never count your chickens before they hatch.

Carothers sure gets a pass from people. Who cares that a guy who's been in law enforcement but not the police runs CPD compared to the fact that a crook is head of the council committee overseeing CPD?
Only got a chance to skim it, basically there's a new OCD S.O. on authorizing .380's for officers assigned to OCD to carry. Gotta go through the qualification and special registration as usual. The order also requires all OCD officers to carry a weapon at all times, even when in undercover capacity. If you don't want to carry a weapon during an undercover assignment, you need written authorization from an OCD exempt for that particular uc assignment. Used to be your choice whether you want to carry during uc, but it is no longer.

Maybe it was the cold weather, but murders were down nearly 30 percent in Chicago in January compared to a year ago, part of a trend that saw decreases in every major crime category except robbery, according to statistics released Thursday.
Murders were down a total of about 29 percent, with 34 reported in January 2008 and 24 in January 2009, according to a release from police. Thirteen of 25 police districts reported no murders last month.
Supt. Jody Weis credited new violence reduction strategies, rather than frigid weather, including implementation of a new Mobile Strike Force, which has been utilized in four districts.

Sounds like there is no mention of he(Supervisor) will verify and authorize him a car, locker, access to the desk, etc! Always eliminate mentioning supervision! Whatever happened to "chain of command?" Shit should go uphill occassionally!! Sounds like Daley is using the "Halloween" trick to "sugar coat" the seriousness of this entire event! At the end of the "roasting" and the "roastee and team " were feeling a wave of relief Ike fired his best shot and inquired about the burglary of some computers from IAD,, at that moment I which I had better resolution on my cell phone camera because the expressions on the faces of Jody and the IAD guy (did they get rid of Tina)were "priceless" the Japanese were not in IKE's league when it comes to a sneak attack.
Total panic and disbelief incident happened in dec 2008 and poor Jody had no clue. Remember this hearing was in the context of department security and IKE's point Jody's own building and the 5th floor are not even "secure" There was general dissing of the Secret Service looking at our security and the inference is maybe they should start on the 5th floor
The kid's partner in the traffic car had two years on the job but was 40 yrs old
Alderman Harrison was angry that none of the bosses present at the hearing were female but unfortunately she did not see Kirby or does not consider her a female but Kirby's face was as red as her pulled up hair
Ald Dixon was concerned especially concerning police offficer's judgement and maybe 21 is too young to be the police and maybe should not be involved in traffic control
Ald Allen dissed the use of the Secret Service and stated this will cause a morale problem

I was going to commend Jody's identification of the "MERIT promotions and state the that is causing a great deal of the low morale also I wanted to know if his committee was looking into the decesion of the fed's to award over 40 chicago police officers awards from the 12 mil put aside for corrupt/clout promotions. It was well worth the time due

Brief synopsis of today's City Hall "session" with Weis and the Aldercreatures:
Carothers did better at this session than I expected. Weis took an expected pussy move, deferring to McCotter to answer the more difficult questions, since Weis knows very little concerning the day to day ops of the CPD. It got real embarrassing when the recent theft of computer equipment from the "secured" fifth floor of Hdqtrs was revealed. Carothers shut up the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Area 2 when he attempted to answer a question that Carothers put directly on Weis to answer; again, Weis didn't have the answer, and he deferred to Alexander, who didn't know all the details of the newly "secured" rear door at the 003rd District either. Didn't see the Burger Queen there (probably ordered to stay away, to avoid more embarrassments, and let me tell you, there was plenty of that to go around!). Who is the "Cmdr" of IAD? Didn't know they had someone in there to replace the one that got lateraled over to A/4 Detectives. Where did this new Cmdr of IAD come from? Never heard of him before today. Jackson said nothing the entire time. Dugan was nowhere to be seen. Cuello obviously was in no shape to make any public appearances today. If Weis doesn't prepare better for these City Hall sessions, he should prepare to step aside.
His performance today would have to be rated a big "D", with the exeception of his prepared statement concerning the incident with the Junior policeman. He reads very well...if only his brain could as well off text, he'd really be something!

Any truth to the rumour that James Jackson help has done it again requesting a microwave from ERPs and when they do not recieve it dump a Female White Sgt on a phone order and replace her with a male Black Sgt. I wonder if Caruthers will hold a council meeting on this, I think not. How soon will Jackson office receive other items from ERPs such as televisions , stereos and narcotics.

Bum rush? Why was Carothers well informed and not the superintendent of police with his elite staff? Should Carothers and other alderpersons submit questions 1 month ahead of time so Weiss is prepared? Jackson looked stunned. Weiss was shocked? They needed Monique to spin the answers. Where was Weiss legal counsel? His chief of staff? Why wasn't he prepared? Carothers is a sharp politican and he was well prepared.

It's an athletic contest that takes place in a large steel cage in which half-naked men beat the crap out of each other.
Ike wasn't impressive at all, it was nonsense, the computer thing made the Supe look bad because someone obviously tried to keep it from him, McCotter was the most versed on CPD knowledge and it showed, not a surprise though. Most of the Alderman were ridiculous, with the exception of Allen and Cochran, who is retired Sgt. You could also see the Alderman Lyle and Hairston were setting the tone on discipline, letting it be know up front that they don't want their Commander or Captain fucked with in no uncertain terms, so watch for the Sgts and P.O to take the hit for that fiasco.
I beleieve it was either Lyle or Hairston who talked about the sexual assaults on the Metra line and how it doesn't get the publicity like it does on the north side; which actually isn't true because it was on the news, only they deliberately omit the race of the offender, because he's black! what good does that do the community? all in the name of political correctness.
Last but not least, they want to see our Orders on lockup procedures for female prisoners due to a "known" female alderperson arrested recently for DUI and took 7 hours to process, it must be illegal or wrong says they, and they want to get to the bottom of it.
All-in-all, it was a joke of a hearing, Ike hated Weis and makes no bones about it, Weis has no knowledge of this department, which also shows, and the Aldermen have no idea at all, big surprise, can't wait for the completion of the investigation, it will be a good show...
