Daley Welcomes Outsiders?

  • Mayor Richard Daley today defended Police Supt. Jody Weis' request that the U.S. Secret Service investigate a recent incident where a 14-year-old boy tricked Chicago police into thinking he was an officer.

"I don't know why people don't like other people coming in to look at the process you're in," Daley said. "There's nothing wrong with that. I salute [Weis] for doing that."
Let's see...
  • Daley has attempted to undercut his own Inspector General on numerous occasions, even signing a rule that say the IG cannot investigate aldercreatures, arguable the most corrupt of all political creatures.
  • The Machine/Combine (led by Daley) actively fought to prevent former Senator Peter Fitzgerald from appointing the current US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald coming in and upsetting the apple cart that is Illinois politics. Daley even had his tame Senator Turban try to circumvent the process by which the senior Senator recommends the US Attorney for their state.
And we've all seen how he hates whenever the media manages to uncover some low level scam that burns a few unclouted pawns and leads to promises of massive reform, all of which are forgotten by the time the next election rolls around.

A smart manager would conduct both an internal investigation and an external investigation.

Internally:

Establishing a task force of representatives from every rank, from top down will really root out the problems, because we all live with the problems day to day. Paying close attention to the recommendations made by the multirank internal task force will help to achieve "buy in" at every level. Each member of the internal task force, during meetings, should be treated equally and their input valued equally.

An outside professional meeting facilitator with mediation skills would be a good choice to run the meetings. (I'm available ;-)

Externally:

a smart leader would ask the internal task force to sanction an external task force and seek their recommendations as to who to ask.

Choosing feds...probably not the wisest idea.

Choosing a multirank task force from other large urban police departments and offering to work together to improve BOTH police departments would be collaborative, strength based and empowering for everyone to create the "buy in" to keep all stations as safe as possible....

It doesn't take the Secret Service to identify security breach susceptibilities.

The city need only ask the rank-and-file police officer or the security people that watch the door at some of Chicago's beautiful people night-spots like Underground, Manor etc. and admit only the beautiful people over 14 years-old or coke dealers.

I think the Secret Service evaluation is more about the SS internally ascertaining what police districts run a tight ship and which don't so they know which districts can be relied upon to know their stuff on manpower and security when the President is in town.

Station Security is a must. Place an officer at the rear entrance to check for ID's. Have the desk crew be responsible for the front door. (no more goofing off on computers) Have the court people park across the street(025) not in back lot. Have Streets and San guys use their time clock at their building next door.

-City can't handle event, etc...etc...

Food for thought-

If Tom Daschle was forced to withdraw his nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services beause a friend had supplied him with a car and driver which the IRS considers income and he did not report it as income, shouldn't the exempts be required to do the same thing? How many do? But my beef is actually not with the exempts. The exempts are "executives" (I know,I know) and a car is considered one of the perks. But what about all these other people who are given take home cars when they have no other use for them other than to drive to and from work and take the kids to school? Like a Youth Division Commander. Or the Tac Lt. Or the Commander of R&D. Or the Commander of ERPS. Or the Commander of Preventive Programs. Or any one of the other "chosen few" who get a car because they are connected. Are they required to declare the car as income? Do they? Just wonderin.

Speaking of forked tongues, didn't Da Mayor state that taxpayers would have to pay for vandalism to Churches yesterday?

A major Chicago cultural icon, Holy Name Cathedral, suffered extensive fire and water damage today from a three alarm fire. The Cathedral just finished an extensive multi-million dollar rehab and recently reopened to the public.

Didn't former Governor Rod Blagojevich and the State of Illinois end up giving Pilgrim Baptist Church one million tax dollars to rebuild from their fire?

Pilgrim Baptist Church Gets $1 Million From State

Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chicago has finally received the $1 million promised it by Gov. Rod Blagojevich to help rebuild the fire-damaged structure next to the destroyed sanctuary.

The Blagojevich administration, in what it claims was "a bureaucratic mistake," originally gave $1 million to a school that had been a tenant of Pilgrim Baptist Church before the landmark structure was gutted by a 2006 fire.

Financial reports show Loop Lab School had $243 in cash and a $32,000 debt at the start of 2006, just six days before it lost the space it was renting when fire destroyed the building.

http://cbs2chicago.com/local/pilgrim.baptist.state.2.761495.html

As a Chicago taxpayer and a resident of Illinois I hereby demand that the same monies and assistance be rendered to the rebuilding of Holy Name Cathedral. You travel a very slippery slope when you play the Socialist race game.

I think this may become a very significant issue in the near future.

I know every politician worth their salt reads this blog, pay heed, the voters are also alert!

One way to combat the F@#ked up politics in Chicago is to employ a unit of specially trained detectives, supervisors and ASA's to look into alligations of wrong doings by politicans. These officers can not have any political influence. Believe me, I've been on the job for a while. There are officers on this job that don't know or want to know a chicago politican. Investigate, arrest and convict any politican conducting unlawful business. It's about time we should stand up for ourselves against the same politican that would screw us in a minute to better themselves.

U.S. investigation of Chicago police torture widens to include colleagues of Jon Burge

Federal prosecutors continue to investigate decades-old allegations that Chicago police routinely tortured murder suspects, focusing on a half-dozen detectives following the recent indictment of former Cmdr. Jon Burge, the alleged ringleader, sources said.

Subpoenas served on the city show that prosecutors are looking at detectives long linked to Burge and the South Side precincts where he worked mostly during the 1980s. Among them: former Sgt. John Byrne, considered Burge's right-hand man, and former detective Peter Dignan.

Dorothy Brown is trying to use the appointment of the Hoob as the head of the CPS as a rallying cry to stir the masses and fashion a launching pad to take a run at RMD in the next mayoral election.

Although she is educated, experienced, qualified and an attorney, I do not think she is strong enough, or able to become politically stronger, in order to topple RMD.

We have to find an Obama-like candidate with a message of change to get shortshanks into the ranks of the wealthy retired. I will work my ass off for him or her. It will be a great day to see RMD hailing a cab to take him home in defeat!

One good bit of news though, is the Vallas announcement that, under the Republican banner, he will take on the Toddler. I feel the breeze of change coming. I certainly hope the breeze has the potential to become a full blown midwest tornado and clean out city hall and the county building!

To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the" (Chicago electorate).

Some may say that Daley is a Machiavellian political genius who has managed to escape his corrupt reign of tyranny relatively unscathed.

I am not among them. At best, he is an idiot savant. Just read the inane comments attributed to this shameless, arrogant bully. He "owns" local media. It even appears that our highly regarded U.S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, pulls his punches when it comes to Daley.

Da Mare exploits an electorate of nitwits and clout beneficiaries by interspersing vacuous gibberish with non sequiturs. He is a shamelessly corrupt, arrogant, vindictive and very powerful dumbfuck. God help us!

Unless he is delusional, I doubt that da WEISel still regards Second City Cop as "insignificant". He need look no further than SCC's imminent milestone: FIVE MILLION (5,000,000) visitors. Only a fool would consider such readership as anything less than formidable.

the sad fact is that if we just followed the existing measures that we were supposed to have in place for station security, we wouldn't have many of the problems we have recently experienced. But the truth is that the department will fuck its own for doing their jobs as defined by the general order when it is politically "expedient" to do so. The best of many examples of this is Captain Buslik formerly of 25 who tried to maintain station security, as was his obligation by general order, and was subsequently publicly ass fucked by the now retired diminutive political windbag Charlie Williams. They can't expect the rank and file to do their jobs when they will fuck a captain for doing his.

“They’re not customer-related. They’re gonna leave at 5 o’clock. They’re gonna leave at 4:30 or 4:00. I’m sorry. We’re on a time clock. They walk out. But, in the private sector, when you have a customer, you’re gonna stay there making sure they’re happy and satisfied,” Daley said.

“We can’t compete with the private sector. The private sector has a complete idea of who your customers are. Government doesn’t have customers. They only have citizens.

I've been writing safety grievances for years now about all the same issues recently "discovered " by mayor chuckie. All answered with typical cpd bullshit and promptly ignored.

I wrote about lack of leg irons on wagons. I was told to buy my own if I wanted them, they were kept in the lockups. Then the department was embarrassed by a couple of highly publicized escapes. Result: leg shackles on wagons overnight and inspectors writing up wagon crews who didn't shackle their prisoners. Back to normal a few months later.

I wrote about no tasers for wagon crews. Results: nothing.

This department does nothing until a tragedy strikes or the department is embarrassed in a highly public way. This is how it works here.

If you want to get something done that needs to get done, figure out a way to embarass the city, it will then get done.

Thank God for the 59-0 vote and I'm sure your EPU and D-Chgo people are absolutely relieved that he is gone...That being said, we unfortunately have a balless commander on CPD that had a closed door meeting with Blago at his house and was kind enought to provide Ex-Governor Braindead the direct phone number to the Watch Commander's Office, in case there are any problems or they don't feel safe or whatever crap he came up with....Hey Commander, Blago is now just another jagoff citizen that has no respect for the police regardless of the color of their uniform, you want to give him the number it's real simple 911.....and he can wait like everyone else because we are short officers and in a backlog every day....

There is a forum to ask the IOC questions and a Int' phone number. We should call and question their choice of CHICAGO hosting the 2016 Olympics.
Points to bring up:
-Manpower
-Security Issues
-Crime/Murder rate
-City can't handle event, etc...etc...

Just a shot in the dark, but worth a try.

Chinese Govt...

you see... the IOC doesnt care about the CPD as a matter of fact, a little turmoil in local government is more a reason to bring international attention to an otherwise great host city! And if you were truly trying to make an objective point, you would include the atrocities committed at the hand of the CPD in your point... but you and yours are blinded by midget minded second grade rationale that wouldnt stand up against a 1st grade debate. You leave out the civil rights violations committed by the City's own men in blue...how very peculiar... anyways, your point is quite moot, and your reasoning is too simple to even address. The olympics will come to this great City, you will do what you can to benefit from it, despite your errant grievances, and you will forever be a hypocrite! But hey, it's the Chicago way!!!

I know every politician worth their salt reads this blog, pay heed, the voters are also alert!

,

Now the entire West an South side will look like an engulfed blazing hell. It will cost...........
$11,442,988,654.50 to repair all those churches.
I have a great idea. Depending on the size of the church we can host different Olympic events in the new structures. It will not cost the city a dime!

I think I heard he is the Mayor's guy and is a civilian assisting J-fed working out of 35th Street. I may be wrong. Is there any truth to the stories of him carrying a firearm and making an arrest? Also heard he was DUI and got the political cover-up. Nothing would shock me coming out of city hall. Be safe brothers!

That's good to know. I'll just bet Mayor Daley really welcomed those FBI agents when they came to City Hall to seize personnel records and more regarding corrupt hiring practices.

How did you welcome them Mayor? Did you stand there with a big smile and open your arms and say something like "Welcome to Chicago! We welcome outsiders coming in here investigating us, and it's about time too! Phew! There's so much corruption going on here I was wondering when you outsiders would take an interest. Thanks for coming to Chicago"

Yeah, it must have gone something like that.

Seriously, sure a lot of that is going on. But I am not clouted, and I have a take-home car. It is a pain in the ASS.

You cannot do things on the way home because you worry that if something happens, 'oh crap'! Especially now with GPS.

I am CONSTANTLY worried about getting into an accident, because I had one a few months ago, and am wondering how much time I'll take over it, since I have no clout.

Now I have to dig 3 cars out of the streets that the city doesn't plow.

If you go through red lights or stop signs because you're listening to the zone and hear something nearby, and you go, you run the risk of some idiot yuppie calling IAD or whoever handles that crap.

When you have to go to Homan Square and drive through shitsville twice a day, ALONE, in unfamiliar territory, and you witness a crime in progress, you have to stop--at least I do. Because what if something happened, and some witness got your plate, and you failed to take action, if you're not clouted kiss your butt bye-bye.

I don't care about getting dumped from the unit, I just don't want to get time for 'an honest mistake.'

If idiots are picking up kids or anyone else, they are incredibly stupid because God forbid you have an accident or are spotted by some inspector..........

But I guess the clouted people don't give a crap about that, because nothing will happen to them.

For me, it's a pain in the ass.

And the reason some units have take-home cars is because you go on interviews or drive-by addresses on the way in or home, etc. It's kind of crazy and a waste of time to have to drive to Homan Square, get a car, then drive all the way back out to somewhere you could have stopped at on the way in or home.

I know there are a lot of abuses, but please don't be haters to everyone with a take-home, because it's no picnic if you're not clouted.

If I had the option, I would turn that car in TOMORROW. And I guarantee you, I have never, ever, ever, used that car in an unauthorized manner. Never. So maybe just keep in mind that there are some good coppers out there, who don't have take-homes because of clout, or rank, or whatever, it's because they have no choice. Sorry for the rant, but I truly do HATE that car.

No, Youth was renamed Special Victims around 2000/2001. SVU works in the areas and eventually fell under the control of the Area Commanders, rather than the Youth Commander. This happened shortly before Bartik left.

The remaining Youth Division folks, at HQ, handle all the juvenile arrest paperwork, keep the arrest records and history, receive all notifications for the approximately 2500 missing persons cases taken and cleared each month in this city, administer all referral and remedial programs involving juveniles, receive and record all DCFS hotline investigations on children for both physical and sexual abuse, they're responsible for the implementation and administration of the CAC (Special Investigations Unit/Sex Cases on kids) and Juvenile Court... oh, I'm sure I'm forgetting half of it, but you get the drift.

Basically, that small command still does a heck of a lot of work, even though you don't see it or hear about it. There's a lot of stuff mandated by State and Federal law regarding children. (And before the bitterness hits, no, I don't work there and never have.)
