Halloween Deadline
Mayor Daley on Tuesday set a Halloween deadline for the Chicago Police Department to tighten up the security breach that allowed a 14-year alleged police impersonator to scam his way onto the streets for a five-hour tour of duty.
“I’d hate to see it at Halloween. If a 12- or 14-year-old child walks into the police station on Halloween, they’ll get behind the desk. They'll give ’em a car. They'll give him a badge,” Daley said.
Noting that the 14-year-old had no badge and no gun, the mayor said, “You always have a gun and a badge. That’s one thing that identifies you. That’s a real concern that we have. I pay these sergeants good money. We pay lieutenants and captains and everybody else good money to manage people. That’s their responsibility.”
And Shortshanks is counting on the Olympics announcement to drive all mention of security lapses from the front pages.

What an asshole...and he absolutely couldn't care less that there seems to be not one single working police officer in his city who has a decent word to say about him.

Daley states "I pay these sergeants good money." Since when does Daley pay these people. I thought the City Of Chicago did. Or is Daley talking about his merit army? Daley has placed most of these lieutenants, captains and everybody else in place to manage people. So Daley, the blame rests at your feet.

Who is Daley referring to? They'll give him a car? Sounds like there is no mention of he(Supervisor) will verify and authorize him a car, locker, access to the desk, etc! Always eliminate mentioning supervision! Whatever happened to "chain of command?" Shit should go uphill occassionally!! Sort of off topic, but does involve PO's security: What are they teaching in the academy these days (if anyone is still in it)? I'm not going to say which district, but a few nites ago, we needed the wagon to transport a complete out-of-control prisoner. The wagon shows up with an old-timer and a PPO. The sarge onscene tells the wagonguys to grab this idiot and to get him out of there. At this, the PPO says "I ain't putting a hand on him. I'm not getting a CR # and fired for touching someone." Instead of worrying so much about 14 yoa, how about worrying about us at the street level?

No doubt the feds have forever been investigating shortstuff and want him bad. They need overwhelming evidence and need a "good" witness just like we do. If they're going to do it they're going to do it right. They don't want to be embarrassed or lose a case. Say a novena that blagomouth keeps it up.
