Cops OK Following Shots Fired

  • A man was charged with assault to a police officer for allegedly firing shots at police during an early Sunday chase on the South Side, police said.

An officer fired shots, but nobody was struck or injured.

Larry Tate, 31, of the 5500 block of South Wells Street, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated assault to a police officer and possession of cannabis, police said.

We'll never understand how with the myriad of gun laws on the books, felons who shouldn't own guns keep getting guns. If we were a felon, we'd be scared to even go near a gun seeing as how there are approximately 1,254,756 laws against felons even thinking about a gun or breathing the same air as a gun.

Thank goodness we're the police and can have a gun. We sure feel sorry for all those Illinois and Chicago citizens who aren't even allowed to have guns because they might actually defend themselves, their loved ones or any other citizen unfortunate enough to be accosted by an armed thug intent on bodily harm and mayhem.

The law is a ass.

Larry Tate was arrested? Will he have to call Darrin and Samantha to bail him out? Or will Sam just wrinkle her nose and pop him out and back to the office? It is a Bewitching problem.

Talk about out-gunned.

I was driving home from work Friday afternoon, and was stopped at the light on Archer and 47th St. A scum bag gang banger jumped out of the car from behind me and was running up on what I thought my car door. My heart jumped! First thing that went through my head is, im getting robbed or worse shot and I dont have a gun. Thank God he was running up on another car in front of me. I thought were other gang-bangers but it was a family. Again, I thought what can I do if this scumbag opens up on this poor family. It must have been a case of misstaken identity. Thank God the light turned green before Mr.Gang-banger could do anything. I followed the family West on 47th st if anything to call you guys or at least be a witness. The scum bag jumped back into his POS bronco and gave chase after the family. I blocked him from getting close until I got cut off by a semi tractor. I was so angry I didnt have a gun with me. Just thinking what these scumbags can do to this family. They had a baby in a car seat in the back and no idea these idiots were after them. My heart jumped as they got next to the car. They must of realized their mistake and kept driving.

Thank God !

It pisses me off as a fellow city worker and a citizen that I as a law following individual cannot carry a hand-gun with me. The criminals will ALWAYS get guns. The only people who get hurt are the people with out them. I say lets do it like Arizona, as a condition for their law, they have to wear the gun on the hip like the police. Hell Im down with that, I'd rather NOT look like an easy target.

I'll take whatever training courses or pay whatever fees I need to make myself legal.

We're deff loosing.

With the economy going South(thats the new fear mongering the polititions are using)People loosing their houses, and jobs. Crime will deff go up in certain hoods, which of course will spill over into the nice neighborhoods. Since you guys have to spend all your time with scumbags. Were left undefended. I live on the West end of District 8, and my car got robbed right in front of my house last Tuesday. I literally live by four cops, one a retired Narcotics LT and numerous fireman on my block.

Thank God my brother who lives with me is the police and we got protection in the house and my professional trained 80lb pitt-bull who keeps an eye out or least barks when someone comes to the door or gang-way. I feel a small sense of security in my own home.

Sorry for any miss-spellings.

Just wanted to let you guys know that normal working class people in middle class(were most of guys live) appreciate what you guys do and go through. The hypocrises that you guys go through are horrendous.

I heard allot the stories and watch the news, but figured it was just city workers cripping. Thats until I stumbled onto this blog.

WOW !!!!

I thought my department was messed up... lol

Thank you guys

Fellow city Worker

The good news is the poor victim, Mr. Tate, will be out and back on the street in no time. Thank God our system works for the benefit of the bad guys.

I have carried a gun since the age of 14yoa. I was UUW (misd)at age 23 while on a hunting trip by a suburban dept. PO who later became CPD.

I am a supporter of conceal carry.
Never leave home without it.

Hmmm...

posts about politics and monday morning quarterbacking? 200+

Posts named, "COPS OKAY FOLLOWING SHOTS FIRED" 15.

Only in this department. Everybody loves to be negative as hell, preach about officer safety, etc, but when an incident occurs regarding officer safety, i.e. you and I going home at night in one piece, the voices are silent.

Maybe instead of throwing the department as a whole under the bus, we should start each day with a thorough look in the mirror and what we've become.
