We know the stations are unsecured. They have been for years, decades in some cases. Brand new stations have built-in security flaws with non-working electronics, alarms, sally ports, etc. Those aren't flaws - they're features! Fixing these problems will take a capital expenditure Shortshanks isn't willing to part with.
So IAD might be sending people around to violate already unsecured buildings? What's the point of this except for a highly demoralizing and high stakes game of "gotcha!"? Some IAD urchin runs around a station snapping pictures, testing broken doors, wandering into processing areas and then what? A Commander gets called, dressed down, has to write a report? And since shit flows downhill, he's going to rag on the troops, further driving down non-existent morale? Maybe he'll down a few cars (as we've been hearing lately) to have officers sit in hallways monitoring broken doors, further shorting an already skeletal street crew?
We certainly hope that IAD isn't wasting time doing this on the orders of some nimrod who thinks they're addressing a problem. They're not. They're addressing a symptom of a Department that stopping giving a fuck. Apathy has set in and unless something changes very soon, that apathy is going to be set in concrete for the foreseeable future.

Doesn't surprise me 025 didn't do well. So many civilians come in and out for various reasons through the rear door. Many are fixing the mulitude of problems in the place, tow drivers, janitors, court staff, the caps meetings with kids and seniors, ETC. One could go hoarse grilling all of these people not including the 70 new gang guys and those using the range. Da Mayo should take the first hit since he is our leader and cannot own up to his ever increasing blunders.

There are brand new stations, the ones with the electric keypad security locks on so called secure doors, that have these security features DISABLED because it is a "pain" to keep calling the desk to ask how to get in.
Hey, maybe the FBI, CIA, Secret Service and White House will disable their security features because it is a "pain."
CPD is and has been a joke, as an institution that is. Good individuals in most cases struggling against a bloated and ineffectual leadership structure. Of course this is all due to the corrupt centralized leadership put in place by our mayor shortshanks.

The desk crew on afternoon's in 025 is useless. They let anyone walk on through. One female assigned to the desk is always wandering around on her cell phone setting up security side jobs. Perhaps they could put her at a desk watching the back door?

SSC, we AND they know what a problem station security has been. What do they gain in pointing out the obvious, as a "gotcha" tactic? They want challenges, then you challenge a boss and he/she says, "Don't you know who the fuck I am?"

And speaking of pathetic, I was at 35th and see this white shirt park right in front of the place in an unmarked, put on his hazards, come in to the bldg and go upstairs. If that was a blue shirt, someone would be out there telling them to move the car. I learned that this knucklehead has been told by the PO's not to park like that and he just keeps on doing it.
Just goes to show you, do not listen to a word these bosses say. Their actions are so contradictory to their words that even wearing boots around them does not protect you from their crap.

Im new to a district so therefore, I dont know any faces... should I be requesting star and ID cards from every person I see wondering about the halls??? With no regard for rank or time on the job? You forgot to mention that they are mostly PPO's on the side door guard duty. Yeah, I feel safer now!

Read this again a copper will get violent one day! The bosses try to talk down to us,many of them are punks with no skills just clout! Lets say one day the wife/husband tells the copper she/he wants a divorce, the kids are against him/her, the car does not start,you find out you are sick. Next you get the punk boss who starts bullshit and do something you will regret! The bosses need to learn how to lead the shirt white shirt you put on gives you nothing but more pay. You're fucing kidding me! Bethany hospital in 011 has better security. They have a key pad to be able to access the ER door for police/fire. In 011 the back door near the dumpster is always open and leads you to the stairs that take upstairs to the detectives or downstairs to the locker rooms, roll call room and radio room. The dumpster in the back, the're is always some bum back there digging through the trash and nobody says anything. The gararge is unsecured, anyone can just go back there and break in a car or hide back there waiting to ambush a P.O. The parking garage looks like it was hit by motar rounds, it's an accident waiting to happen. That entire building needs to be demolished.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of controlled substances, vaccines and birth control pills have either expired or may have been “stolen or misplaced” because of lax security and record-keeping at a city Health Department warehouse, an internal audit disclosed today.
The Central Pharmacy warehouse, 1820 N. Besley Court, was created to save the city money through bulk purchases and time by maintaining a $3 million cache of drugs and medical supplies that could be quickly delivered to city health clinics.
But, the 2007 audit conducted by Inspector General David Hoffman concluded that neither goal has been accomplished. In fact, taxpayer-funded pharmaceuticals may be walking out the warehouse door.
Among the findings:
• $529,000 worth of drugs purchased by the city expired before they could ever be dispensed to patients. The loss to taxpayers was $365,000 even after the city got credits for expired medications returned to manufacturers.
• At least $639,000 worth of vaccines purchased with federal grants were “not tracked in any meaningful way” and “could have been stolen or misplaced” without anyone knowing about it, creating “substantial health and liability risks.”
• 438 packages of birth control pills at a cost of $19,000 were unaccounted for and “may have been stolen, lost or improperly distributed.” Each package contains a one-month supply.
• The warehouse had “little-to-no security,” in spite of the valuable and potentially dangerous inventory. Unescorted guests were granted access. Storage cages and refrigerators were left unlocked. Surveillance cameras were installed, “But, no one monitored them, either in real time or after the fact.”

The USSS is afraid to visit a station 'cause they might get approached by a BIG real police who might throw them to the ground as a result of a security breach.
I hope I catch one of these IAD rats in A/4, I will take them in the elevator up to the 2nd floor. But, before we get thereI am going to press the stop button and let a loud and proud one rip. I want the IAD rat to smell my thoughts on the whole station security issue loud and clear. Signed.

Now perhaps others can understand why I refuse a flu vaccine every year. I have no proof, whatsoever, where and how these vaccines were prepared, and under what conditions they were "stored". If the hospital follows through with their threat of making it mandatory for all employees, I shall seek an alternate profession.
Paranoid?? Perhaps. I remain a firm believer that I should have control over what is introduced into MY body. This is proof that we have absolutely no idea where these medications spend a crucial part of their time! With everything that is going on in the world today, incidences such as these are not only a disgrace, but extremely dangerous. This is the kind of stuff we are allowing to be injected not only into our bodies, but into our children's little bodies, as well! Unacceptable!!
I must say that the 005 District day desk crew is on the ball with keeping an eye on the building, as every day I come in to work, at least one of them looks, pays attention to who's walkin in and out, and they know who the real police who work there every day are, and who don't belong. Hopefully it will be easier for them now that all the piss-bums living in the courtyard of the 005 District -Br. 35-38 Court have been sent on their way finally. Not everyone on this job has 5 minutes on it, and we should not be treated like assholes, and should get the utmost respect from Supervisors, especially those empty-holstered wanna-bees at 35th St. Maybe if you'd listen to us more, the workin street police, instead of the pencil-pushin whizz - Kids, you might not have the constant problems you are saddled with now. And then, of course, there's Daley, who has to meddle with EVERYTHING, and put his hex upon it. The man who never was a cop, and never could be one. But then again, I couldn't be Mayor either, too honest.
Fact is, there is no answer to this proplem. The whole mind set has to be changed and this is impossible with the current command. The department has always reacted to criticism with stupid "knee Jerk" reacations. This is just one of them. They can't change the command people and nobody has the balls in IAD to say anything so they do these stupid things. If you look back in history, evertime the Department was criticized it comes up with nonsensical solutions. "Make sure you blame someone" "do something" "do something" "Chickens without heads" Ya, nothing changes.

The a-holes from iad are out of control, and they really think they are important. One of them strolled in to the station, walked through the gate and go pissed when she was called out. IAD had one of their suckholes that never worked in my district try to sneak in. Don't they realize that some of us have worked in plenty of places, and may not remember a name, but recognize their sneak from elsewhere? And I blame caps for alot of this, they made civilians feel at home in the police stations, some of them caps volunteers think they are the police and walk around the stations like it is theirs.
