What Could They Be Hiding II

  • Mayor Daley's son and nephew have hired a criminal defense attorney to represent them in the ongoing investigation of their investment in a sewer-cleaning company that won millions of dollars in no-bid contract extensions from City Hall.

Charles Sklarsky, a former federal prosecutor now with the law firm of Jenner & Block, confirmed Thursday he is representing Patrick Daley and his cousin Robert Vanecko.

David Hoffman, the Inspector General, is also a former Fed. Perhaps this is all part of Daley's master plan? Former Fed-on-Former Fed battle? Can it be a fight to the death? We could sell tickets and use it to fund the pension Daley and his relatives have managed to loot for the past decade plus.

And who has copies of the Pension Board minutes where the retiree representative voted with the City representatives to deny disability payments to a number of coppers? We need the full story. Perhaps the Patrolman's Representative needs to start a blog to update everyone on this stuff?

What is reason would these guys vote with Daley?

The Shields brothers, Mike and Danny are serious when they say that they are going to take Daley out.

Just wait until Danny leads us next Thursday into the Mayor's office in a valiant charge.

I have waited almost 9 years for this to happen again, can't wait. Everyone has to be there to see the Shields brothers in action.

Your my heroes, watchout FOP!

My favorite part of that story is where the police pension board's lawyer isn't cooperating with Hoffman either. That's right boys and girls, your own pension board is pimping for the mayor and his family and not cooperating with a criminal investigation.

Don't be too quick to condemn votes against disability benefits. Some are out and out frauds. Ald. Burke tried to ram rod through total disability benefits for one of his valets "bad back" several years ago. He eventully got 50% and that was a crime. He use to brag about how he "beat the system" his entire career. We remember you!

The Sergeants have to start holding Lazzaro's feet to the fire...and that includes the Union! I get the feeling they cover for him like he's their mentally challenged brother. The question comes up often, why exactly does he vote with the city reps & not support the initiatives proposed by Mike Shields??!!!

I can vouch for what you said in your post. P.O Hauser voted against me at my disability hearing last Thursday and the Lt. abstained. I was hit by car as a pedestrian in front of the court house at 26th St while on duty and suffered permanent nerve damage in my right leg.

Earlier in the week, I spoke to Officer Shields and asked him if I could make a statement in front of the board prior to the vote of my disability. He said it shouldn't be a problem. I was placed on the agenda. Officer Shields even told them that I was present and I wanted to speak. They ignored him. I went downstairs to get some air while waiting to speak to the board. I saw Gallagher (Pension Board President) down there, so I knew I had time. I looked over to where Gallagher was standing and he was gone. When I went back to the meeting, the board conveniently cast their vote while I was downstairs. I received 4 votes against and 2 for with the lieutenant abstaining. Officer Shields and Sgt. Lazarro voting for me. They told me the act of going to court was not a police duty. I wanted to explain to them that I was going to court 3 to 5 days a week and 75% of our job is following up after making arrests by going to court. We could also be disciplined by the department if we miss a court date. This Pension Board was established for us and they did not want to give me fifteen minutes of their time. I approached PO Hauser while the board was on a break to tell him it wasn't right what he did and he ignored me, he said "There are seven other people who are in there", then he just walked away from me. I also told Lt. Maloney that he should have voted instead of abstaining. Lt. Maloney heard the first part of my testimony back in November and he had all the records from my testimony from February. In essence, the Board is saying that going to court is not a police function, that it is not an important police act and you are not covered.

I am normally a very private person and I believe that God will help us through any obstacles that we have to endure but this time I feel I have to speak out. There are a lot of officers that go to court to supplement their income instead of working side jobs. We all think , why work a side job where we are not covered by the department. I was one of those officers who needed the extra money, so I did a lot of court. I would hate to see someone else go through what I am going through. Please be careful.

I am not sure what some of you have against Officer Shields but he is up against the enemy at the Pension Board. Officer Shields was great during this whole ordeal. He needs our support. I am also not sure why PO Hauser voted against me. He is retired and is not receiving a salary for being on the board. So you have to ask yourselves a question, what agenda is he or they hiding? Should he be representing the retired guys?

Again please be careful in anything that you are doing on this job, sometimes you think you are covered but you are not.

God Bless You and Stay Safe

PO Demetrios P. Kereakes

P.S. All the minutes from the Pension Board can be found at www.chipabf.org from 2008 and 2009. Look to see how everyone votes.

February's Vote for for law school tuition:

It was moved by Trustee Shields, seconded by Trustee Lazzaro that the Board remove law school tuition from the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund’s continuing education program based on availability of funds and job relatedness.

ROLL CALL
For: Shields, Lazzaro, Neely, 3.
Against: Lux, Hauser, Reusche, 3.
Absent: Maloney, Volpe, 2.

Ken Hauser, the elected pension board rep for the retirees, votes against the interests of the police and with the Daley administration every chance he gets. He is a Daley lapdog. He got his lackey Harold Brown a 75% duty disability pension because Harold supposedly had Carpal Tunnel syndrome from writing tickets and could no longer work as a PO. That was a total rip off of our money and should be investigated.

So Mike Shields told you you could speak, sees you leave the room (small room) and then allows for the vote to be taken? Did Mike Shields say "hold on Demetrios, the vote could be taken soon"??? Or "hey Demetrios, I advise you stay put"??? Sounds to me like Mike Shields left a brother high and dry... Thanks for that Mike, you sound like a stand up guy!

Well I think it's time to start filing inquiries into the pension fund dealings, looks like there may be something there and what I'm afraid of is that when it blows up, it might be too late.
If the voters of Chicago want to line up every election day like sheep, that’s there prerogative, sadly to say, after they vote they can dodge bullets flying or maybe get an armored car to pick there kids up from school, I guess maybe one day they'll wake-up and realize that they have contributed to the shape of their city, then again, I seem to hear some discord amongst the sheep, maybe there starting to ask questions as to why everything seems so FUBAR.

I was down having a smoke with demetrios who I just met. I was scheduled for my hearing after his and was also denied by hauser being the swing vote! I also saw the exchange between demetri and hauser while walking into the hearing room. Hauser wasn't even in the room, seated for 3/4's of my hearing came in and voted against me. I was involved in a trfc accident in 1999 went back to work being new to the job and aggresive didn't want to be off of work. I worked in pain and sought medical treatment or took time when I physically couldn't get out of bed (where I couldn't move my head sideways) which happened infrequently (3-4 times a year), not wanting to go the re occurring route was my downfall I guess!!!! because I got hurt again in 2006 a traffic accident was talked into surgery etc. And returned to work in 2007. Drs told me to wait 12-16 months for a complete recovery. I waited, it didn't get better and in fact got worse, new symptoms (numbness to strong hand.... fingers). I got 50% duty they stressed that because I didn't seek medical attention or re occurring from 1999 to 2006 that it was pre existing ????I never had a problem with my spine until I started this job! I used 1 medical day and 2 in the academy total of 3 in 10 1/2 years .... Maybe he doesn't like greeks. George Latsos. P.S. always go re occurring when warranted....... learn from my mistake.

I can tell you this: you can be off medical and make tons of arrests and have little to no CR's and the bottom like is THEY DON'T CARE. IT'S WHO YOU KNOW AND WHO'S ASS YOU KISS. That's across the board everywhere with this job.
