Pension Fund
In these times, one needs to think "outside the box" like the mayor does when he's looking for more money for his "Quest for Fire" Olympic dream. This bright idea was given to us by a reader:
- Why not have the Pension Fund provide a large portion of the backing for the Parking Meter deal? In addition to the interest generated by the loan, write into the management contract that a sizable percentage of the quarters collected go directly into the Pension Fund, something like 50 or 60%. Then, how about the ticket revenue be handled similarly? 50%? 75% into the fund until the shortfalls are erased? That way, coppers would be encouraged to write tickets again since they'd be working for their retirement guarantees.
We aren't economists, but it sounds like it could work on some level. We don't see anyone else with viable suggestions and it has to work out better than Venecko and other mayoral relatives skimming management fees while losing a million-and-a-half of our money.

Nice.
Now the citizens will believe that every copper is the same as shortshanks.
Yea its a great idea but shortshanks will never do it!
That way, coppers would be encouraged to write tickets again since they'd be working for their retirement guarantees.
========
No.
How about They just stop stealing from the fund??
How about They just fund it properly, per the law, like They are supposed to??
Let us not start a slippery slope ourselves. If we agree to something like this then we are condoning Thier actions.
Why? So his nephews can go steal it back from us?
while we're on the parking meters, I've noticed that some of the pay-boxes have not had their clocks changed to reflect daylight savings. Pay for 2 hours only get an hour....don't catch the error get a ticket......
how about the photo camera loot for the pension?
To arms, bring out the signs lads, we march on city hall again!
How about a contract for the red light cameras too?
That deal is already closed.
Daley stealing our pension money
Recently, our pension fund has been subpoenaed by the inspector generals office. They are requesting any and all documents regarding DV Urban Realty. This is a company that is 51% owned by Allison Davis (a Tony Rezko partner) and Bob Vanecko, the nephew of mayor Daley. This was a risky real estate fund to develop properties in low income neighborhood.
Our board attorney, David Kugler, has advised the board to not comply with this subpoena, citing jurisdiction. This is a legal technicality to avoid giving up any information. I motioned at two consecutive meetings to comply with the subpoena. Unfortunately my motions have fallen on deaf ears. The board has refused to comply. Our board should not do the dirty work of covering up for the mayor's nephew.
Money from this pension fund is derived from over 9% of an officer's annual salary and from taxes that are levied. Any transaction conducted by the fund should be completely transparent. Both Officers and Tax payers should be appalled at this.
I urge all officers to forward on this to other officers. Also, THE NEXT PENSION BOARD MEETING IS APRIL 29TH AT 221 N. LaSALLE 16TH fl
This sounds like Mike Shields getting shut down by the Daley appointed pension board members. Daley giving our money to a Tony Rezco company! Pass this on.
Election tomorrow.
there are still coppers out there talking about Quigley as being a good idea.
He was at Cops 4 Kids shaking hands, but he was not a the march downtown.
Rosanna Pulido was there. she is the only choice that makes any sense.
How about a post to convince any copper that is thinking about Quigley to think a little harder and do the right thing.
Turn out will be low so with a large enough conservitave showing we could put a Republican in that spot.
Think what that would do!
Or you could just be a lemming
I think some smart lawyer would be able to firgue out some type of conflict of interests. It would probably turn and bite Officers in the ass. Allowing people to act in a manner that would personally benefit themselves leave the door to abuse wide open. Good intention Officers could create an atmosphere of penalizing citizens for financial gains. If ever proven,in a civil court, when its low threshold, it could leave the pension fund open for litigation
A 3 million dollar management fee only to lose half of that? They walk away with the money and we end up with the shaft. Young ladies getting a free law degree? Someone has been allowed to forget what their mission is.
WAKE UP! That's why Daley wants all his yes men in our business.
STORM THE FOP. Make them earn their wages. We have to earn ours.
Revolution NOW.
Sooooo....has Lillie Crunk-Halles been dumped yet?
How about get some repss. in there like Mike Shields. Get rid of the Lt's rep. MaPhoney, the Sgt's rep. Lazarro and the biggest JOKE the retiree's rep. Houser! Lets start with something we can control by voting. These clowns are with Daley and we need to get them OUT!!!
Obviously this person fails to grasp the central concept of Chicago government: STEAL!

I do believe the guy is trying to make a small difference since he fucked up with the Cozi incident...He is just a puppet...Daily is pulling his strings just like Cline, Hilliard,Etc...what's really the difference?? He's not one of us...that's the ONLY difference...Get off the guy and focus on getting rid of Daily either by voting him out or by indictment....and getting us a good contract!! God Bless and Be Safe!!
Yeah but if you have friends like "Quarters" in charge it kinda puts a crimp in how much will actually be collected.Cha ching!!
tHAT SHOW WHY "SCC READERS ARE LEADERS"! Great idea it could work, and then i personally would write lots of parkers to be sure we get all the money due us!
I am not an expert, but. I think this would be a huge conflict of interest and illegal!
There is an easier way! Have the Mayor scrap his plans for the olimpics. Pay and repay all of the money owed, which is mandated by LAW, or face PRISON!!!
I like this plan SO MUCH BETTER!
post more of our pics from march, SCC!
Slow down, if that happens we hold the Olympics and wrestlemania!
Exactly who now holds the lease on the meters??? Is it a foreign outfit? No one seems to know. Ditto with the garages and skyway. He is selling the city out from under us for these damn Olympics.
Vote TOMORROW for Republican ROSANNA PULIDO for Congress
Give Daley a kick in the ass!
She was at our March on City Hall and one of her goals is full funding of police and fire pensions.
Make the politicians FEAR US!
As I said in another post, I am no ezpert on the pension fund, but I am pretty sure that the fund is limited by law as to what they can invest in, and as to from where they can receive funds. I say that in spite of some questionable investments over the years.
Great Idea!
They'd just take it after it was put into the fund.
OT:
I wrote to channel 7 after the Chuck Goudie piece aired. I will, without a doubt, never watch channel 7 again.
Here's my letter and their response:
Mr. Gowdie [sic; intentional],
I viewed your piece that aired last night regarding the "bonuses" that Chicago police officers and Chicago firefighters receive. I found your "investigation" to be lacking and critically misinformed. Why the police
were given these "bonuses", i.e. for the city to not have to pay the pensionable portion of this salary, was never discussed. Your one-sided take of an issue hardly qualifies as "investigative reporting" when you fail to answer the most simple of questions: Why?
As a result of your shoddy journalism and neglect to provide an unbiased and impartial view of the Chicago Police Department, I will no longer be a viewer of WLS channel 7 news or programming.
Sincerely,
My name
Their response:
If there was a factual error in the police pay story or you have
information about any other factual errors we have made in any story,
please let us know. We will correct them.
Thanks for writing,
The I-Team
If the pension fund provides the money two things will happen;
1. none of Daley's friends will make any money off the deal,
2. by showing a profit Daley would have to pay back the fund (P&I) and maybe be forced to contribute to the pension itself.
With anything this city does, if it doesn't benefit Daley and his friends it doesn't happen. Just look at the contract talks, VEBA or even the 55 and out idea. Each one benefits Daley more than it benefits the PO. Be very careful, leery, when the city proposes anything that it says is a benefits for POs.
Northsiders.... VOTE TUESDAY APRIL 7TH. Pulido for the 5th district..... OH, by the way thats a great idea for our pensions....
one problem The mayor doesnt want to give up the revenue he's etting
Speaking of shortshanks, did anyone see that he violated his own rule of no public appearances on Sundays to suck off the olympic committee which he claims is supposed to be reserved to go to church with special K and spend time with his mobbed up family?
Fuck this guy.
this is a thought that I have asked about for a while, but I was told we would run into "morality issues". I know that there are other departments in other states where the officer themself gets a 25% cut of every imposed fine on tickets that they have written....we are behind the ball.
OT
Thank god one branch of goverment still follows the law
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Supreme Court has let stand the conviction of former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was sent to death row for gunning down a Philadelphia police officer 28 years ago.
That sounds great. But let us assume we do write a large amount of tickets which then leads to the loan being paid off sooner than usual. Then what? All that revenue goes to the company. I believe Shortshanks expects the company to sell the lease back to the city at a loss to the company. Look at all the malfunctiioning street meters. They were like this before the company took over and the lap dance media blames the company not the asshole mayor.
Hey SCC..Newsflash..this just in..off topic...humor.
Chalkie is video game enthusiast!
He struck in the 6200 blk of south Campbell.
It seems he had a "man date" to play the video game "call of duty" with a citizen and CPS alum.
His opponent a 24 year old man is now dead.
There is a missing video game controller and chalkie was seen leaving the neighborhood about the same time!
JC is a Gooof
4:36 PM mentioned something that may have escaped the media. He talked about the offender being a CPS alum. It would be interesting to find out how may of our poor CPS victims have been killed by fellow CPS alums. I am betting that CPS alums are a higher percentage of offenders in murders in chitroit than any other educational source.

The feds have already served a supeona for those records.
Davis, Vanecko, and Daley's son are all going to prison.
The feds don't spend tens of millions of dollars on a three week trial to put a former Streets and Sans guy into prison.
They're all going to prison, then Obama will pardon Daley.
"It's allll part of the plan."

It would probably work in many places but not Chicago, because DALEY would no doubt find a way to steal the profits we are due, because, afterall, he is first, and formost, a THIEF.
Why don't we Picket the Pension Board, next Meeting?????
Dump the crump!
But we suppose that when the lieutenant at Midway (who happens to be married to an exempt, who can't even recall to whom he sold a health club to) says it's ok to bring a gun to the airport in violation of Federal law, well, anything is possible.

Parking Tickets: Consider the potential for abuse; still not to be ruled out. We're cops, not meter maids.
Personal Issue Citations: Harebrained; no way! Imagine overzealous police officers sandbagging decent, otherwise law-abiding motorists for petty bullshit.

At the Pension Board, get rid of Atty. David Kugler.
Kugler, you treacherous, despicable scoundrel: Shall I tell the blog visitors about the unconscionable shot that you and Richard J. (for "Judas") Brzeczek pulled on me at my disability hearing?
I schlepped a damn rental TV and VCR upstairs just to play the most compelling part of my case (the Channel 5 EXAMSCAM tape) for the Pension Board. Because of YOU and "Judas", I was denied the opportunity for the Pension Board to view "the smoking gun".
Examine federal court proceedings: (Northen v. City of Chicago, et al., 126 F.3d 1024, 7th Circuit). I was vindicated. Yet, because of a pair of rattlesnakes, my duty disability had been denied.
Please, please vote for ROSE PULLIDO t.o.m.m.o.r.r.o.w!!!!!!!!!!she is a former DISPATCHER and is PRO-POLICE.QUIGLEY is just more of the same.
Just how about hiring real investment advisors not play for pay goofs. If you do not get an adequate return on investment during a certain period, fire them.
The best idea would be a line being drawn between the trustees ( and the free trips they are given) and the advisors. How many of the trustees have been on advisor sponsored trips? How often? Do the trustees then vote to hire the advisor?
SCC- look at the advisor listings- you are only at the tip of the iceberg with the nephew nonsense.
old retired guy
Daley's close friend, convicted thief, Quarters Boyle can now unload his stash of millions in stolen Toll Way quarters. There is a shortage of quarters now with crime Boss daley's parking meter scheme.
Vote for Pullido - 5th Conressional District tomorrow!
Get out and vote NW siders! Send the Machine a message!
Good thinking outside the box but it would be a conflict of interest. That said it is still to see coppers out there thinking of fresh ideas instead of just whining.. The red light cameras on the other hand, could work because we are not directly involved...
Correct me if I'm wrong, our pensions are secured by state law in the Illinois constition, that is why we needed to defeat a constituonal convention and did!
If the pension is under funded and defaults or collapses, aren't we first to be paid by Illinois law??
ALL THE QUARTER GO TO THE COMPANY THAT FRONTED A BILLION DOLLARS!
BUT LINKING PARKING TICKETS TO OUR PENSION SOUND LIKE A NOVEL IDEA.
BUT KEEP NOT WRITING TICKETS!!!
LET KFC PAY 4 ALL THE POT HOLES!
IF U SUPPORT PULIDO SO STRONGLY GIVE OUT UR INFO 4 PEOPLE TO CONTACT U...
U DO NEED PEOPLE TO WORK THE PHONES DONT U?
DONT BE SCARED POLITICS IS A ROUGH BIZNESS STICK TO POSTING ABOUT PROMOTIONAL EXAMS AND HOW U SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SGT BY NOW.
Get out the vote TOMMORROW FOR ROSIE PULLIDO ,lets take back the seat that RAHM EMMANUEL had.Send a message to the DALEY machine!!!Vote on TUES.
Why dont you just try to be coppers instead of politicians? You want to make policy, run for office, or just shut the fuck up.
T...We need to lay off Jody.

BEING A POLITICAL STOOGE IS NOT AN EXCUSE. HE SHOULD HAVE THE BALLS TO STAND UP TO DALEY. SO PLEASE STOP WRITING IN MRS. WEISE.
Not really a good idea since he would find a way to steal that money too.
Daley is acting like a crackhead whose parents have died and left him a house. Selling everything and smoking up the rest of the house after selling it for nothing.
SCC,
Can you please do a post on the Congressional election f0r Rahm Emmanuel's replacement tonight?
The election is:
Tuesday April 7,2009
Polling hours are 0600-1900hrs.
Vote for Rosanna Pulido, former police dispatcher, Conservative Republican, Pro-military, Pro-law enforcement, Pro-NRA, Anti-Illegal Immigration and not a machine hack like her opponent.
Rosanna Pulido attended the March on City Hall; and she is suggesting that, stimulus bill monies be utilized to finance unfunded pension liability, like ours and CFD's.
Please take the couple of minutes to VOTE tomorrow and to put a friend in office.
Lets keep the momentum rolling from last week.
VOTE!!!
Send Daley a message tomorrow.
OT-Congrats to G.I., P.Z. & D.C. for being re-instated. Two years of non-sense, for nothing. Welcome back guys!!
I wrote before...I think Mike Shields is a rising star. He has the youth and tenacity to help us out of this mess of coverups and stealing by the Pension Board. If that guy needs a personal bodyguard, I would do it!!! I would take a bullet...as I have before on this job...but this time for an even greater cause...for US!!!!! Go MIKE....GO!!!! We have your BACK!!!!!
Regarding writing tickets to beef up the pension fund, it is probably a bad idea.
Since the march on City Hall you can be sure that a lot more civilians have some sympathy for your plight. They also read this blog.
If officers were to start writing tickets, after being encouraged by brother officers not to, you could possibly lose a lot of public support.
PENSION FUND SOLUTION
I really liked Rosanna Pulido's idea to use some of that Obama Stimulus Bill cash to fund the CPD and CFD pensions.
What a great idea!
Please if you care about your pension and your future, vote for Rosanna Pulido tomorrow.

3 Cops in SOS Get Their Badges Back
Very quietly, the Chicago Police Department has given badges back to three police officers who had been caught up in the Special Operations Section scandal and relegated to desk jobs as part of the ongoing investigations into wrongdoing, department officials confirmed today.
With police powers restored, Greg Insley, Dave Case and Paul Zogg can return to the street and real police work, department officials said. For Case, reinstatement brought a promotion, from sergeant to lieutenant. The officers could not be reached for comment, or declined to comment publicly about their reinstatements.

They are riding on Weis' coattails. When the fed-rat is gone; Leoandellyn be gone too.
Problems, problems every where. The biggest problem is Daley. He has been in office way to long.
Hey MR. Wizard "I Don't want to be a Mayor anymore"..
... Drizzle-drazzle, drizzle drone...time for this one to go home.
IT'S THAT SIMPLE START TELLING EVERYONE TO VOTE THIS GUY OUT. LETS START WORKING AT GETTING A NEW MAYOR. Can we all say CHANGE...
Bottom line is, if the city wanted to do the right thing in any situation, we wouldnt be in the position that we are in. You cant stop this shit until the thieving stops!
and Northern is right, i saw what the point system did to coppers in gang crimes. It makes coppers monsters.
With all of this GOOD O'BOY NET WORK going on I feel like I'm in a bad episode of the Dukes of Hazard. Where Daley is Boss Hogg, Weis is Rosco P. Co-Train, and Special K is Cletus.
Does anyone see the similarities between Daley robbing all the Money and Boss Hogg's scheming.
Rosco had a better handle on things in Hazzard Countys Sherrifs Office, than weis will ever have on the CPD.
Special K will never get Daisy, and the Duke's will always be safe with him around.
Signed;
CRAZY COOTER, coming at ya!

of course you wrote before, Dan. You write here every time there is pension news. Your writing style is so unique it has gotten so easy... I gotta say, if meatball wants to be taken seriously, maybe he should dress/act a bit more appropriate while at a highly publicized function... the 8th grade sweater vest with a cigarette in one hand and a coke in the other just doesnt command much respect... How about a suit? Maybe shake a few hands, tell us your story face to face rather than having your brother do it on the blog... I was at the rally and meatball just strolled on by, not a word to say to the rank and file... just enjoyed his coke and smoke... real professional.... Im just sayin! Kohl's has suits for $99 would go a LONG way kid!
With police powers restored, Greg Insley, Dave Case and Paul Zogg can return to the street and real police work,

Yes, great idea, how many po's would take this too far and ticket inecent folks including relatives? They would find a way to justify it to themselves but we all know this is a stupid idea and moraly wrong you greedy fuck!
Did we ever find out if our pension had monies invested in anything related to Bernie Madeoff?
To the person who asked about the pension being backed by Illinois law, yes it is. That is, until some political judge determines it is not. Oh, I forgot, it is all on the legit in this state and that would never happen.
How about people do what they were elected to do and hired to do and everything will work out they way it's supposed to.

Agreed. Hire a PROFESSIONAL firm that invests and if they don't turn a profit, they get let go. Enough with this friend and relative shit getting to play with the pension fund.
Why would it be any other way?
Like Northside said, PABF lawyer Kugler is an asshole. He's the one who refuses to open the books on OUR pension fund money and the Daley crime family. Just another one of Shortshanks toadies. He would be the last person that should be representing police officers, retirees and widows.
F#%k David Kugler.
Or quite simply how about pressuring the FOP together with all of the other Union's into lobbying City Hall, so that a Municipal Ordinance is passed that when city assets are sold or leased that all pension funds have to be made whole.
RE potholes:
Daley is going to hire a company (a no bid family or friend) who is going to fill the potholes for a price from anyone who wants to advertise on the pothole.
Daley was asked if he would consider the KFC way and said he wouldn't count it out.....he's just thinking of who he can snare to set up the bu$iness (Walsh?) and rake in million$ from the advertisers and wait for his "contribution" or kickback. Don't be surprized if some former hired struck fraudsters come back into the fold for a second time around under a different name.
3 Cops in SOS Get Their Badges Back

I think there's a conflict of interest there, don't you? That will push coppers to write more parkers and make you happy that they hourly rates go up...
Not good SCC>
That makes it even more You vs Us.... and the YOUs will be on the mayor's side...
"Im just sayin! Kohl's has suits for $99 would go a LONG way kid!

fyi, it's the fucking suits that are fucking us.
If a good suit is all that it takes to impress you, the Keesing Bandit must have had his way with you a thousand times.

Walsh alright shoddy work, but they have 5 new jets and 2 new helicopters and must be giving daley huge manilla cash filled envelopes!
"and Northern is right, i saw what the point system did to coppers in gang crimes. It makes coppers monsters.

There's something called Integrity& Discretion. Coppers become Monsters willingly when they choose to pimp for the powers that be.

We don't need no stinkin' badges
Isn't Kohl's one of those high end stores?
If they don't have it at Zemsky's, I don't need it.
