Shortshank's Mojo is Weak

  • Under pressure from the City Council, Mayor Daley has agreed to revise his mandatory furlough plan to include a sliding scale: the higher the salary, the more unpaid days off.

A meeting today of the City Council's Finance Committee, called to give quick approval to the furlough plan, was abruptly adjourned at the mayor's request. A full City Council vote was also put off indefinitely.

Finally, someone calling the mayor on his stupid ideas. Now, how about somebody slap the aldercreatures around for not joining in the belt tightening? The 6% raise they accepted, the 5% raise they gave all their hangers-on, and the massive increase in aldermanic "discretionary" spending accounts, which is like an earmark fund that they don't have to justify running somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.37 MILLION per aldercreature, not to mention their "expense accounts" that never seem to be audited and run a few hundred thousand per.

How many days does Jody have to take. He's nonunion and has the highest salary in the city and the state, if not possibly the country except for maybe the commander in chief. I'm just saying, seems like with the dollars he brings home he's due for about 2 months off unpaid. Start at the top, never gonna happen.

Why not let the ALDERCREATURES practice/vote on what they preach on? Please If U R an alderperson, give up the ONE MILLION discretionary fund w/o question for the sake of your constituents, AND give up 30 days w/o pay just because! After all theee Alerpeople only work PART TIME, do not get tested for drug use, do not get randomly for alcohol use, and, doget convicted at a higher percentage than POLICE OFFICERS!!

Channel 2 Jay Levine did an expose last night on chicago politics do as I say not as I do rule.

To skip to the best part, the news inquired about past furlough days without pay. 9 alderman took some, and 2 took none. One alderman (Waugansack or something) said he took no furlough days because he rejected his $6000 per year raise. But he clearly said that he will not forgo his $6000 per year raise next year.

So you can clearly say the aldermen intend to give themselves a $6000 raise each year.

When they asked the second alderman Brookins, he said "unless they suspend my child support payments, I can't afford to."

So every city worker who is divorced or just fathered/mothered children without marrying, please go to the channel 2 website and save that tape for your law suit.

Saw a quick interview with Ald. Shiller, champion of the poor and homeless, who gave this explanation:

We realized that some of the city employees on the low end of the pay scale would actually lose enough of their income that they would become eligible for some government low income assistance programs, so we felt the need to look a little closer at the proposal.

Well, gee, I'm sorry. Let me understand this. You want to take your employees money away, but not quite enough so that they'll qualify for some help... So you're going to hurt them more ?

DUH !

Been told by several business owners in Edison Park that the mayor has sent investigators out to conduct inspections. The few I talked to said they got written up for hanging signs, no soap dispenser, inoperable light switch. Big time stuff.

Nice going Daley you POS. Keep hitting the working man for nickels and dimes, and keep giving companies like Boeing a $25 million dollar tax break. Smart move.

A bit off topic, but I laughed at Shortshanks antics at his news conference yesterday about city worker furlough days...

I'm guessing someone had the audacity to ask the stuttering prick if HE had taken furlough days yet, and he began sputtering "Yes, yes I have, yes I have ! Print that ! I want to see you print that ! Yes, my staff has also taken the furlough days. Print that too !"

Boy that stuttering prick is sensitive! But I've seen his little hissy fit act before. It always occurs either when he gets caught in a lie, or when he's asked a question that he does not want to or isn't prepared to answer.

But we have his assurances that he and his staff are suffering through the same 'hard times' as the rest of us and are being forced to bite the bullet and notch their belt up just like common city workers.

Hmmmmm? Not that I don't trust His Honor, but I wonder if he'll give us a little peek at his check stub? I mean, after all, there have barely been 14 business days that have passed since he began floating this furlough day plan in the media. He and his staff would have had to have been absent about the last three weeks for that to be true. Hmmmmm? Maybe they all took their unpaid furlough days in January, February and March, you know, back before they realized it would be necessary. The psychic, anticipatory powers of our Mayor are just... uncanny !

Aldercreatures are like shortshanks, They Answer to No One. They don't have to follow the rules, they only force their will on citizens and city employees.

Why should they have to take un-paid furlo days ???

Alderthief is a 365 day a year job, lotsa stress in making sure the "boys from down the street" ain't watching. It's also hard trying to keep the bullshit they tell us (aka: lies) seperate from the truth (what they talk about when no one is listening or so they hope).

Fuck them all !!!!!!!!!

Hopefully someone is starting to look behind the curtain. The money is there the city has hundreds of millions hid in TIF accounts and rainy day accounts the mayor is just hoarding the money to give out to his developer friends.

They aldercreatures should give all thier money back along with th Mayor. They gave thier selfs a 6% raise and blow thier million dollar budgets on waste. They could cut the amount of aldercreatures in half that would save 30 million right off the start. When are people going to demand this change????

Yesterday on Channel 2, don't know why it was on, Jay Levine went after the Aldercreatures and even had a few wise cracks for Daley. I loved it. Brookins said he wasn't taking days off because he couldn't pay his child support if he does. I guess the rest of us don't have bills to pay.

the furlough thing has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever.

just layoff or otherwise reduce your workforce by however many you need to stay solvent.

or get the city worker unions to agree to some kind of pay cut.

the last thing you need is leaderless departments because all the bosses are taking an unpaid day every other week.

Only a few of the aldercreatures have take some unpaid furlo days. the theif Brookins stated that when his child support is reduced he may consider taking a unpaid furlo. I thought this was a part-time job with the city. He also receives money from his other business interest as a shit head lawyer/conman.

The last thing we need is for those 'bosses' to come to work.

We get a lot more done when they're not here.

It was a move to show that Police Officers were being put back on the street.

Actually it was just another"plum job" for the Machine to reward political hacks with.

If shortshanks really wanted to have more police on the streets he would hire them. More "smoke & mirrors" by the goof that runs shitcago.
