Casualties Count?
Does anyone know if we'll every see the true numbers? The media is still sitting on a few:
At least one man was reported stabbed during an altercation at the Fiesta Puertorriquenas festival in Humboldt Park Saturday night, officials said.
A 25-year-old man was stabbed in the park near West Evergreen and North California Avenues about 8:30 p.m., said Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.
A man believed to be in his 20s was shot and critically wounded this evening at an intersection in the Humboldt Park area.
About 7 p.m. the victim was in his vehicle in the 1600 block of North Western Avenue when he was shot by an occupant in what was described as a black Honda, Chicago police said.
There may have been more incidents prior to publishing and the roving gang fights seem standard. Any coppers working it have some first hand stories?

First hand stories??? WE ARE OUTNUMBERED BAD!!! Not enough police in the surrounding streets of Humboldt Park. It's complete anarchy. Don't make arrests unless you HAVE to! Shorthanding those out there for a dumb arrest is something we are not doing in case the shit really hits the fan.
CMDR Martinez and Pabon from 014 are completly cluesless as to what they are doing!!!
We took the under (7-) for the homicide count this weekend.
We thought the seven and a hook was a trap for those "Over" players. The over was looking real good with temperatures in the high eighties and high humidity. But it may be possible that some victims are not being reported; it looks like the fix is in!
We're taking the under for the rest of the season!
Never thought we'd be handicapping homicide numbers as though it were football season.

Stop in the emergency rooms near the fest. That should tell the true story, or at least closer to it.

Ya...one guy stabbed (tonight another one Friday) two people (if you want to call gang bangers people..Latin King) shot. Numerous batteries. Saw couple different people walking around at different locations bleeding from head...they didnt want any help sooooo... Oh, also city didnt want to pay TMA's overtime so had TACT teams directing traffic at end of night. All and all it sucked ass..but could have been worse I guess.

The CITY DID NOT shut down the SSI parade. The organizers did.
Get the facts straight.
The city will let ANYONE have a parade, protest, march etc. as long as they pay the right people = the Ward Committeeman and the Alderman.
Nice story about the cat eating the crime scene...Once in Englewood I saw a poodle doing the same thing. Gotta love it!

The problem with the south side irish parade was it was invaded by non-irish and outsiders that caused fights. Otherwise it's always been just a bunch of drunks. Outsiders don't go to PR parade, cinco de mayo or bud bilikin

I worked the fest and it wasnt that bad. Coppers make it to be bad but it was a decent time.. Stop crying......
This was the most out of control Puerto Rican Fest that I've ever seen. MLD's happily displaying pistols in their waistbands on North Ave, Wabansia was a fucking race track. Closing down North Ave did zero. For the cops who live in the area, it was a fucking nightmare.
I don't ever remember anyone being shot or stabbed at the south side irish parade.

Absolutely not, there's too much money to be made off of nastyfest. Besides the exempts who get nice thick enevelopes from the Parade Committee would have no part of ending their cashcow.
Thanks to all the officers who worked at the festival and the surrounding area this weekend. As a resident of Humboldt Park, I can say it would have been out of control without you! I'd type more, but I have to go pick up empty beer bottles from my front lawn...again.

Majority of these angels were smoking weed, drinking, flashing gang signs, fighting each other, throwing empty bottles at some of the cars, and I even witnessed flipping off the police in some instances, which is not surprising. At that point they knew that, they were not going to get arrested, so they went all out…….In my years living here, I never eyewitness anything like it… it was out of control! Way to go Lucio, you should be ashamed of your self! The Burger Queen could off done a better job than you! I think you missed the point. The Irish parade got out of control with the drinking and brawling and the sponsors cancelled it out of respect for the community.
I doubt the 'sponsors' of the Puerto Rican fest will do the same. Too much cash for them and not enough respect for the neighbors.

I live just west of the 014 and in the last few years of PR Fest, this past year was much better. Limited roaming groups of drunkards tossing beer bottles into windows, limited fighting, limited firecrackers going off in the streets. I'm sure it was hell the further south from Armitage you went - the traffic looked bad enough - but thank you for everything you did. Much appreciated.

I was off duty and my girlfriend was in the car. At least 50 people on that corner. I'm guessing I would have gotten little support from the locals, slow police response as traffic wasn't moving and perhaps putting my girlfriend in danger. Would YOU have jumped into the fire in that situation? Bad career move if you would.
