Just a friendly word of advice:
- We seldom censor comments, seldom meaning about 93% of what readers submit goes through. Certain words, phrases, names-calling gets banned right away. Repetitive comments, thousand-word manifestos, overly long quoting of previous posts is judged on a case by case basis. It a labor intensive job, but we enjoy it and we've got plenty of help.
We've also stated in the past that we have readers on 6 continents. We cannot prove, nor do we intend to prove, that any particular commentator is, was or might one day be a Chicago Cop. Certain persons admit to their identity as current or former cops, but most don't. And as we appreciate our current anonymity, so we respect those who choose to remain nameless.
It is in the vein that we once again feel compelled to issue our standard semi-annual warning - advocating or participating in any sort of job action is punishable under Department Rules, Regulations, General Order and FOP Contract by termination. As we've stated, it would be hard to prove anyone who typed such a comment on an anonymous internationally accessible blog was doing anything but howling at the moon. But in a roll call room? In a processing room? Over a PDT? The walls have ears. Hey, I still have a wooden night stick and my call box key that I got in the academy and my long expired DOT approved cheapy riot helmet. And I am properly schooled in the O.W. Wilson theory of police omnipresence.
O.W. Wilson believed that preventive patrol and rapid response to calls would be effective, creating a sense of police omnipresence among criminals.

Tact must Go !! We must eliminate tact teams until the department is up to speed. All they are doing is details all summer and now when not on details they are in uniform anyway. Will they answer jobs and do reports? Hell no. The watches are too short and the department thinks that TRU, MSF and a host of other units are more important than the kids on the watch or Tact. Did it stop the shootings in 007? Put all tact bodies on the watch until further notice then maybe we can get a day off and have some rapids up. Tact is extra and we can't afford extra right now. As far as all the events this summer Hire back those on their days off. Use some of that rainey day fund Mr Mayor. IN my district that would be 31 PO"s 3 Sgts. and a Lt. boy that would really help. But this will not be done because it makes too much sense and the department is not about that. Someday this department will be run like a business and not a playground for the clout people so thay can play leader and parade around even ride on their segway. I will never see it I fear....

if true thats bs, i had an ex that worked for one of these private ambulances and occasionally i was dragged to tip a few with some of her moron co workers and i heard all kinds of stories of how they turn the sirens on just for fun, or if they were meeting someone for lunch, picking their kids up from school half way across the city etc etc. just some food for thought
A ole timer once told me "Kid sit back and enjoy the show and you will have a long and prosperous career". The guy did 35 yrs on this job never married and is still going strong. God Bless Him! Take the time to hear these guys out, ole timers are philosphers, psychiatrist, counselors, comedians ect... MUCH RESPECT TO THE OLE TIMERS ON THIS JOB! From 5yr wonder.

I agree. Any conduct, organized or not, that could be remotely conceived as a job action will do at least two things:
1. We will lose any sympathy (however small) with the citizens of this city. After all, no matter what, we did take an oath to serve with honor.
Governments and its leaders can be much less than honorable... as we know all too well in Chicago. They can be corrupt, cheat, steal and lie to their people. They can act with no moral conscious. We have to separate ourselves from them and stand above that.
2. Second, and hitting more realistically on target... Don't give the city an excuse to abolish our collective bargaining agreement because of an incident that they would (most definitely) exploit as an illegal job action.
The city would love the opportunity to throw the labor agreements with the sworn members of this Department right out the window.
If that were to happen, we could all bet the farm that the city would cut our pay and benefits. In addition, all job protections (lay-offs, seniority, job assignments, etc.) would vaporize.
Don't think they wouldn't try it.
Don't think that they aren't "poking the tiger" either, seeing how we respond and react.
THINK!!!
Another march (or a series of marches) would do much more good for our cause.
Although the last march did not put any money in our pockets, it did make us all feel proud - even for a moment - standing together shoulder to shoulder.

Do not worry about the academy. Dugan has a plan. He is sending out teams of academy instructors to fight crime. They have seat belt missions and to impound cars for revenue. One team a day in a district not to make arrests but impound cars and write parking tickets. The last priority at the academy is training recruits.
The weather is finally turning hot and the few bosses with any brains know Jfraud was just being stupid when he said weather isnt the reason crime is down. If it ever stops raining we are in trouble. We are severly understaffed and Morale is at an all time low. The morons running this dept claim to have our backs but stab P.O.'s in the back every chance they get. Dugan is a lying fraud who trys t F@ck coppers every chance he can. His policy of forcing supervisors to name PO's on CRs when it is obvious BS that is made up is illegal and needs to challenged. The FOP needs to fight this and sue if neccasary. POs are being accused of crimes where the complainant refuses to sign affidavits or the descriptions and car descritption isnt even close. Some the car doesnt exist but supervisors are being told they must name POs even if they know the PO is not involved and it is a BS. DUGAN is a complete piece of shit who cannot be trusted.
Remeber to always back each other up drive safe wear your seatbelt, smile, give everyone a report(that will really piss of the bosses if crime goes up)take your lunch and gas up the car and watch the circus. Go home at the end of your tour thats all that matters.

Strong rumors of reverse seniority getting sent to the far southside districts with all the openings. I guess if you already "work" in 003, you don't have to worry. But if you "work" in 020 and live in 016, they may send you to 003 or 005, or 006. Don't know if it can or will happen, but the proposal was definitely floated!
My FTO once told me that every district you pass on the way to work = 30 minutes you could have been doing something else with your life...

Currently, the "new" Motorola Radios issued to the CPD are capable of"
a. Digital Transmission
b. Encrypted Transmission
(the clear dot vs. the white dot,and ONLY another radio with the EXACT DEcryption can hear you and converse with you.)
c. GPS
d. Various Power Output Levels.
e. ID at start/end of transmit
f. scan/priority features
g. "Voice" to tell you what channel
you're on. (Good for Old timers,commanders and PPO's haha)
It is NOT programmed to utilize MOST of these features and it is NOT capable at all of "opening its own key" to listen. The ONLY way the current radio will "open up" is when the orange emergency button is hit. A way to check to see if your radio is listening to you is to look down and check for the telltale red LED indicating the radio is transmitting.
You are not programmed for digital channels(yet)
There is no way to "crosslink" to CFD (yet,in use however at the Airports) and ONLY on certain radios is there a "crosslink" to the ISPERN frequency.
If you even are a CPD Det., I can assure you that you do not speak for your brother and sister detectives in "LE". Any dick with two years has experienced the FED way which is always the wrong way. Never trust a fed or anyone who does. Especially a CPD who does, and keeps using the term LE instead of police.

When taking detentions from Lathrop Security be aware that as of late,they have been taking people OFF THE PUBLIC WAY. Of note is a Blad Male Black in a white Security Shirt who drives a grey/silver pick up truck. It has been reported that this person will pull up to people ON THE PUBLIC WAY,jump from his truck, point a GUN at UNARMED people and demand ID. Subsequently,the subject will cuff these citizens(taken from the PUBLIC WAY) place them in his truck and go to the 019 and EXPECT processing.He is also directing the remaining security force to do the same thing. He has also sent "offenders" in with other Security Personell going in as well to sign for a crime THEY DIDNT WITNESS. As of late there was a "raid" at about 2625 Hoyne where the subject was a "named offender" in a case report for assault. When this case was brought before the Judge, it was DISMISSED. Of the 15 recent "arrests" by this Guard,11 of them have been DISMISSED. The point here is before you accommodate this goof,make CERTAIN the ELEMENTS of the CRIME EXIST and DO NOT UNDER ANY REASON simply take a head for this guy based on his word.HE has directed security to enter (illegally)into a residents apartment and effect(illegally) a warrant arrest when no hard copy of the warrant existed.The resident was charged with trespassing which was later THROWN OUT. Additionally it is suggested that the PO checks FOID,Tan Card, Blue Card,DL/ID, and Company ID of this person since he is licensed. Should unethical or ILLEGAL events be noted by the PO this should be reported to IDPR. Note final that IDPR,ASA,Chief Judge(s),warrant officers,AG, and Deputys have been made aware of this guy.Registering complaint with his company will NOT do any good as they are "blind" to his actions.(currently his company in under investigation from IDPR for events involving the County building Fire for which they were the contracted security) DO NOT place your safety,pension,house or anything else at risk for this guy he is more than just a few cards short.
