Starvation Time
- The recession is hitting home for inmates, too: Some cash-strapped states are taking aim at prison menus.
Georgia prisoners already didn't get lunch on the weekends, and the Department of Corrections recently eliminated the midday meal on Fridays, too. Ohio may drop weekend breakfasts and offer brunch instead. Other states are cutting back on milk and fresh fruit.
Officials say prisoners are still getting enough calories, but family members and critics say the changes could make prisoners irritable and food a valuable commodity, increasing the possibility of violence.
Well it's a good thing that those nasty prisoners are all locked up where they can throw all the tantrums they want inside 20 foot walls of concrete and barbed wire. If bread and water were good enough for the Bastille, it should be good enough for American prisons. We think a prison population suffering from scurvy, rickets and assorted vitamin deficiencies would be a good thing in the long run.

My wife makes this for me everyday, I learned to like it and if the inmates don't like it, fuck them.
Marin County (the wealthiest county in the USA)prisoners, are angry that the Gov of Cal. is going to sell San Quentin which is sitting on one of the most valuable pieces of property the state owns. They will no longer be able to get their tennis lessons from outside members of the community that donate time to the prison.
All they need is Flamin' Hot Cheetos and red pop.

I've seen enough reality TV shows to know there's plenty of protien in bugs.Feed the cockroaches in the jail, watch them grow and then feed them to the inmates. They'll stay healthy.
I'm sure shortshanks wont miss a meal once he makes it to the federal pen.

Hey OLD 6970: For the past few days, this Ace Reporter was "plugged up"; to the point typeing became difficult. Phil had sprouts last night.
This morning, just prior to logging on to SCC, Phil entered the bathroom to do the morning "constitutional" and "log into" the commode. Let me tell you, my "log in" was massive. For those of you who experience constipation or difficult bowel movements, eat sprouts and drink plenty of water the day before, and you too, can "log in".

Where did you come up with that figure, that crime was cut in half? Please document that claim.
It is more likely that property crimes would rise because people who do drugs aren't very responsible in the first place, so they probably wouldn't have a job.
Now they need to get money somehow in order to buy those legal drugs. Low and behold your garage has some nice tools inside that can bring some quick cash. You get the picture.
Laws are established to protect citizens and bring order to society. Using your logic we can eliminate all crime by not having any laws. What we would then have is chaos.
And fuck those assholes in jail. Give them just enough to keep them alive and healthy.
Maybe they won't be so eager to go back

Get a new wife
take a look at the history channel/prisons around the world. these ghetto dogs wouldnt last a week in some of these places.
take away their drug money and then do you expect them to get jobs? they'll be robbing the hard working, or attempting to rob the hard working in some cases.

And then perhaps we could focus on the really important things: not capitalizing all our words, using sentences, and making sense.
Maybe instead of legalising the sale of dangerous narcotics, we take a more proactive approach towards the people running the illicit drug trade?
Fill the damn prisons to the rafters, and when they are full - build a new one and fill it up. There are still good god fearing people living in some of the neighborhoods in Chicago and all our other sister cities, who don't have a chance because the drug dealers and bust outs have completely taken over.
Oh but legalizing heroin will remove the criminal element you say? I for one can't wait until heroin can be bought at CVS. But the problem is the bust outs will still have to buy it, and since they will never get jobs - and now they can't get their bag from selling, they can turn their attention to robbing and stealing.
Cut off the supply.
Bologny can be served a number of ways. So can spam.

I agree that felons ought to be punished; incarceration is punishment.
But malnutrition and starvation are what happened in concentration camps in the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, etc. What makes America America is being better than that. Jesus Christ himself said something about how we are judged by how we treat the worst and least of us all.
So, let's not gloat about how badly we treat people who treated us badly. Let's try to treat felons with some respect for their humanity, so that perhaps when they are released they aren't filled with rage and resentment, and might buckle down and get a job and try to go straight.
That might mean paying some taxes.
But render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. And I know this comment is very liberal in tone, but let's get practical: unless every jail sentence is to be a life sentence, then we have to think about how people who have committed a crime will do after they do their time. Once upon a time, "rehabilitation" was thought to be the goal, and was paid for with tax dollars. Now, not so much. And I would bet that the recidivism rate climbed in concert with the rise in the idea of punitive, rather than rehabilitative, incarceration.
That's not to say that many many of these people don't deserve to be behind bars forever. But any copper on the street knows that most will be back on the street at some point.
So, as a practical matter for the men and women in blue: do you want prisoners starved, brutalized and ready for revenge?
Well, Ok.

A very well written post, and I thank you. The problem is, they're gonna be pissed no matter how they're treated/fed/whatever. It's a no-win situation.
All they need is Flamin' Hot Cheetos and red pop.
UHMMM!~ MY FAVOR
Reminds me of the standard answer of "We're serving cake and cock...and we just ran out of cake" given to inmates when they asked us what was for chow.
It makes me chuckle every time it's resurrected.

Dude move north the Archview menu is getting OLD!
7:04, yes, I would like them starved and brutalized. Prison is not supposed to be a pic-nic, if it was an actual prison, they would not be so inclined to return as they are now.
OK, let's get serious for a minute.
Not a bleeding heart here but a happy prison is a safe prison and we have brothers who work as CO's. I worked as a jailer. I know.
Plus, cutting out lunch is an invitation to an ACLU suit which they'd probably win and some liberal judge will monitor their meals.
I'd say ham or bologna sandwich and chips. And what about Iowa where they have prison farms where inmates grow their own veggies?
Who's your wife, the warden?
Are you kidding me with the cable? I just had to cancel my cable. Maybe I'll volunteer at San Quentin.
Seal off the jails completely ,nothing in or out, and let them feed on each other...
They need to be fed for sure, but they don't need to be fed anything that's a joy to eat.
Make them grow their own food if they want fresh veggies and fruits. Otherwise they can live on whatever provides calories that's cheaper than cheap. It's no Holiday Inn!
Who own's Devil's Island? Can we use some change that we can believe in to reopen it? Why not send them there? Station a destroyer or two to circle it to prevent escapes. It has wildlife and vegetation, they'll eventually figure it out, and if not, well, problem solved.
Prison is a terrible place; I don't think it's out of line to point out that I saw a big, strong copper -- Mike Mette -- on the TV news, crying with relief the day he was released from a state penitentiary. There is a reason for that. He was intelligent, perceptive, and had a job, family, home, and belongings -- a whole future at stake. Nothing unmanly about it. Sure it bothered him.
It doesn't bother some people, though. Prison paradoxically affects the very worst people the least -- constant shouting, crowding, communal grab-what-you-can eating, sleeping wherever you can flop down, stealing, and fighting was pretty much the way they came up in the first place. Inside is pretty much the same as outside.
Not everyone in prison is a bad guy; some are just poor, driven to desperation by circumstances, and/or just plain unlucky or shoved in there by people with a social/political axe to grind.
One thing is for sure; the crazies, the "hooked-up" bangers, and the iron-pile lifers will always get over -- as will any corrupt correctional officers, employees, and contractors who'll take advantage of the situation to line their pockets.
Taking away food from everyone will just make the strong take it even more from the weak and make the place even more of a hell than it already is -- while "the hits just keep on rollin'" every day and every night out here.
I don't know all the answers but I don't think this is the one. Taking away a bowl of oatmeal won't do it. That's petty -- turn and face the real problems.
Cut off the 1-brings-57 "chain immigration" and the endless deluxe benefits for people who don't even belong in this country or who keep having children they can't support themselves -- and get rid of the politicians and "social engineers" who encourage this -- and maybe we'd be getting a start.
(Legalize drugs? I dunno. OK -- so you put the stuff out for 99 cents a bushel at Wal-Mart and put the dealers out of business. I don't think they'll make "parallel moves" over into data processing or something; a wave of kidnaping for ransom, violent street robberies, and home invasions worse than we've ever seen would seem more likely. They're not gonna work a job to pay for those diamonds in their ears, gold fronts, Nikes, etc.)
God bless all on this beautiful summer evening. Stay safe.
Inmates are people too.
