Can't Catch a Break

  • A 43-year-old Chicago Police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl.
And once again, the comment sections of both papers are alive with the bashing of police. He was arrested, charged and his name publicized, yet the Department takes a never ending beating, as if we'd defend or cover for a child molester.

And tomorrow, we'll get up, put on the uniform that makes us a target for all sorts of crap, and respond to some tens of thousand of calls for service for an ungrateful public that can't function without the police, without a contract, while the politicians who ravage and plunder enjoy 6% raises and $120,000 part-time jobs while Daley shovels money to his son and nephews and our pension bleeds our retirement security away.

We can hardly wait for the sun to rise.

and the states attorney knew about this for how long? How convenient that it steals the headline when it SHOULD read "SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN" Mayors nephew robs police! Will they get their pension money back mayor? But then this cop stuff, right on time. I'm going to call and see how much it costs to rent a billboard.

Isnt it interesting that everytime the Mayor is under scrutiny these sexual assault investigations involving Police Officers magically appear?
If one didnt know better you'd think there was some sort of collusion between City Hall & SIU?

What some members of the public need to realize that these arrests are being made of police BY police.

Some things are not going to be overlooked. Rolling through a stop sign..........likely to be overlooked. Molesting a family member.......get in line because the number of CPD members looking to arrest ANYONE guilty of that offense would stretch for blocks.

Hell in LA, the LAPD just arrested a 20+ year decorated female detective on a murder charge from the 80's.

Some folks can hate the police all they want. Some things just aren't likely to be covered up.

It's not all some "thin blue line" stuff.

If you want to see coverups you're more likely to find them in other areas of government. Hint: follow the money and family ties.

That's just fucking great. Perfect timing. What the fuck is this shit?

Here's a reminder for those who may have forgotten.

Don't drink and drive. In fact, don't drink in public at all if you can avoid it.

Don't fuck minors.

Don't beat your spouse.

Don't steal.

Seems pretty simple, doesn't it?

Government is a evil, and thats about it. That is why are forefathers limited government, because only then can freedom can flourish.

Get government out of the way of society, and it will take care of itself. Get out of the way of folks owning and carrying guns, and crime will come down.

Make laws like Florida and other states have in not having to retreat, and more crime will come down.

SCC, as a private citizen I can separate the criminal acts of an individual from the many heroes in an organization. Nothing done by the small minority of cops who screw up will ever diminish the respect I have for the fine job done by most cops. And it will certainly never lessen the gratitude I have for the heroes like Officer Valadez, Taylor, Francis (unfortunately etc.)who made the ultimate sacrifice to make this a livable city.
Please remember the media needs to sell papers, put society needs the police. God bless the CPD.

I'm sorry to hear of the lack of support from the public and even worse, from those who are supposed to be in your corner. What a rotten way to be treated. I hope these things change soon and people start to wake up.

You deserve better working conditions and unconditional support. We, the public, owe you so much, we can never begin to pay you back for all you do. For the CPD to be treated this way is completely disgusting. Maybe by getting the word out, we can start to change things.

Be safe out there.

THANK YOU FOR DOING THE JOB THAT YOU DO.

Yes, you have some bad apples, every profession does. But the public at large knows that you are the good guys and gals and support you completely.

Please don't think that the public doesn't care, we do. You read the comments of a few, they are our bad apples.

THE MAYOR DENIES HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF HIS SON OR NEPHEW'S BUSINESS DEALINGS WITH THE CITY. WHEN THEY WERE GETTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM PENSIONS AND WHATEVER OTHER FUNDS THEY COULD STEAL FROM. THE MAYOR USE TO STATE THAT HE KNEW ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WENT ON DURING HIS WATCH. NOW HE KNOWS NOTHING! HOW CONVENIENT! I WOULD IMAGINE AT SOME POINT DURING A FAMILY DINNER PATRICK OR JOHN ASKED THE MAYOR FOR HIS BLESSING OR A PHONE CALL TO GET THE CONTRACTS THEY WANTED. PATRICK THEN SUDDENLY MOVED OUT OF THE BASEMENT INTO AND EXPENSIVE CONDO,DRIVES A NEW FANCY CAR AND DAD NEVER ASKED ANY QUESTIONS. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE.

FAMILY THAT STEALS TOGETHER WILL HOPE DO TIME TOGETHER IN THE FEDERAL PENN.

SORRY FOR THE RANT. I'M DRUNK WHILE, IN MY HOUSE, ON MY RDO.

OT: regarding the ongoing saga of the travesty of Daley's nephew involved in the looting of our pension fund.

**** THE FIX IS IN ****

Anyone who has been in Chicago more than 10 minutes can smell this one.

From John Kass, June 12, 2009.

"Investigators have sought recordings of closed-door pension board meetings that might shed some light on how Vanecko got the business, but the Tribune has learned that at least one pension fund decided late last year to destroy such recordings. City Comptroller Steve Lux made the motion to delete tapes of private police pension board discussions, possibly including conversations about DV Urban, under a state law that allows deletion of old records."

Fucking miserable corrupt bastards!
Steve Lux and John Gallagher and Ken Hauser and the rest. I hope they get indicted for obstruction of justice.

OK, doofus, I'll agree for the sake of argument that we only need police 15% of the time.

And again, the so-called police on here are ready to throw this guy under the bus. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Alot of you were ready to crucify the Jefferson tap guys and ALL of the SOS people, and what happened to those cases? Even if this guy (who I do not know) is guilty, he is still entitled to his presumption of innocense. I really have a feeling that there is more to this story.

Response to both comments. First of all SIU doesn't move that quickly. SIU received the case in early May. Secondly the family member has allegedly re-canted the story and now the State is unsure of what to do! Going to the lie box next week. Don't be like these other citizens and believe whatever you read in the papers.
