A Well Made Point

We have some pretty astute readers:
  • a Harrison District mobile strike force squad car tried to stop a vehicle near Independence Boulevard and Polk Street, but the vehicle instead sped away and got on the eastbound Eisenhower Expressway, Bay said. The vehicle exited the highway on Halsted and headed south to Taylor, where it collided with a police squad car.

It was unclear if the police car involved in the crash was the same one that initially pursued the vehicle from the West Side.

Police have four people in custody in connection with the incident and charges are pending. Investigators also recovered two guns on the Eisenhower in the area of the chase.

    ------------------

    Similar scenario.

Except this time the car races away down Independence onto the Eisenhower Expressway.

The offender's car crashes into a family of four returning from grandma's house in Oak Park, killing everyone except, of course, the offenders.

No gun is found in the car. The driver of the offender's car has a traffic warrant.

    Dugan gives a press conference.

    What does he say?

Does he use the word "warriors" in his statement to the press?
Well played. Especially if the chase happens so quickly that the "balancing test" can't be applied.

Somehow, the words "under," "bus," "discipline," and "termination" come to mind quite quickly though. We wonder why that is?

Dan Dugan wants the "Warriors" out there? I like "Tomahawk Dan", but he's mistaken to believe this department will return to the days of kicking ass and taking names.

Why do you work???
Dugan and Weis will fry you alive, trust me, I am getting thrown uder the bus right now. I never beat anyone, stole money, used my position to influence anyone, beat my spouse and I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and they are looking to throw me to the wolves. How many times does it have to happen before we learn??? Please don't let yourself be another one of these scenarios, if you hav minimal interaction with the public then the less chance you will have catching a lawsuit, a CL/CR (whatever they call it these days), or getting yourself or your partner hurt. The ghetto is a self-cleaning oven let it solve its own problems this summer.

Let me begin by saying that I was not involved in the chase but I heard the entire thing, beginning to end. First of all, the 1st Watch members of Zone 10 did a fantastic job of coordinating everything regarding the chase. People get excited during chases (rightfully so) and have a tendency to holler into the radio.

Not only did LD do a fantastic job with the chase itself but was able to keep track of everything while coordinating the search for the guns tossed from the vehicle during the chase, the pending disturbance in 010 outside of Franklin Park following "Midnight Basketball" nonsense as well as the usual personality conflicts between AZ, Tricky and the rest of the testosterone-fueled "supercops."

Had the 3rd watch Zone 10 crew been still there, ML would have been yelling at everyone to stand by or demanding their exact location second-to-second.

This was a classic textbook police pursuit. Hopefully Danny Dugan will take a few moments to request a copy of the radio traffic and see that we still have the warrior heart beating in our chests. But, please...keep an eye on the recording. If Jody the Caveman finds out we're still chasing people, he'll empty out the Kedzie St. bus barn in order to have enough rolling stock to throw the troops under their front tires.

I agree. They tell you to go out and get the guns, drugs, and the criminals, but with the orders on the books how is a po supposed to catch them if they take off??? What criminal is going to stop when he knows from time and time again, most likely from his own past encounters with the po-po, he can get away?? In two week I had the same car take off on us three times and each time it was terminated. Yes I understand if a innocent person gets hurt in the chase then the citizens would say, was that gun worth that citizens life? On the other hand that person uses that gun and shoots a 5 yr old on his porch or a p.o. and one could say YES the chase was worth it. Also Why should we be at fault? I thought it was are job to catch the bad guys. Then again its Cook county.

please. you aren't saving the world. A gun is like a piece of candy to these people. It's so easy to get. Taking a gun off the street isn't doing a thing. They just get probation anyway. why bother stopping that car three times knowing it will run off and the chase terminated.

OK: Let's get this straight: There is no Harrision District Mobile Strike Force, WE operate out of Hoam- Square and NO,That;s right No, We did not initiate this chase, It was the 11th District, The MSF offficers are highly trained and can operate our vehicle in a much more professional manner, my guys were attempting to intercept this chase and got clobbered, causing one of my officers to sustain a very serious broken arm along with one of the newest cars in our unit being demolished. But as PROS we move on. SGT JOE AVILA, MOBILE STRIKE FORCE

15 years ago, a friend and former colleague was in the Academy with us, when he had an argument with a female PPO about something she THOUGHT she heard him say after I'd asked him for some class notes. It got to a Sergeant known for her kneepads and her hate of men of lower rank and superior intellect. Rather than find the reason for the argument, find it was bullshit and tell them to shut up and go their separate ways; she threw him to the dogs in IAD; helped FABRICATE the allegations, and proceeded to ruin his career. The female PPO went on to become the biggest dog this side of the Mississippi, and the witnesses against him have eventually been found to be some of the biggest thieves -($5K shopping spree with an arrestees credit card), liars and thugs - (SOS goofs) this once honorable Department has ever seen...That lucky SOB has no idea how lucky he is...or maybe he does.

++++++++++++++++++\\Eisenhower was called the Congress Expressway for the surface street that was located approximately in its path and into which I-290 runs at its eastern terminus, (read "EXIT"), in the Loop.
