The Streak Ends

You never talk to the pitcher when they are in the groove. And although it doesn't really matter to anyone reading here, it involved every single one of you in some small way.

For the first twelve days of June, we never dipped below 10,000 visitors a day, including weekends. That is unprecedented in our four years of existence - 152,000 people in 12 days.

So once again, we thank you, the readers, the visitors, the lurkers and the contributors. You are why we do this and you are why we continue to do what we do. Maybe the fight isn't lost. Maybe the history isn't written in stone. Maybe we aren't screaming into the void as it has seemed recently. Time will tell.

Insignificant. And getting more insignificant every single day.

The feeling of screaming for help while drowning on a deserted island has driven more than one police officer to drink and then some. SCC, For listening and validating that what I'm thinking isn't crazy. That what THEY are doing or saying is crazy and illegal. Thank you.

I was raised in Shitcago, but left it almost 40 years ago. But what happens there still affects me, as I still work in that shithole and still live in Crook County. Plus, I am a former (long, long ago) St. Sabina's altar boy. Monsignior McMahon must be spinning in his frigging grave, given what Fuckwad Pfleger has been up to. I have 2 sons who are cops, and I check your site every day because my boys don't/won't tell me what's really going on out there. I guess they are concerned about the old man's ticker (young fellows; I worry about my liver, myself). God bless you and all the other coppers. I can't see so good no more, but I do have a .223-.357-.38-.45 at your service any time the need arises.

Be well!

What you are doing is a great service to all who work on the Department and the Citizens of Chicago. I'm glad you are doing what you do. The information needs to be out there in a fee society. Keep up the great work.

SCC, congratulations on your accomplishments. back in the days of George Washington, there was no "mainstream media," just bunches of little leaflets and small papers talking politics without guidance from the advertising department. "mainstream media" became a means for reaching the most people to make the most advertising dollars. journalism and the free reporting of different ideas is a tradition your blog pursues. The first amendment is for people like you. continued good luck

While SCC deserves all the credit in the world for having the guts and the knowledge to put this blog up for all of us to use, the real thanks should go out to the rank and file of Chicago's Finest!

Each day lately we hear something bad that a copper did and the press makes a big issue out of it. Yes, Cops are human and they do make mistakes. Why is that so shocking? Mayor Daley and his family have robbed this city blind of over 20 years and the press is just now STARTING to look at it.

To the men and women of the Chicago Police Department: THANK YOU FOR BEING THEIR FOR US. YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Just a citizen

Hey if I wanted tall tales and unadulterated bull, I'd won't have cancelled my subscription years ago to the local newspapers, or I could listen to a Shortshanks press conference...
But I like the good, the bad and the ugly just like it is...
of course you need the right amount of typical blue sarcasm..

You do a great job thanks...
Like I said, it’s better then any shrinks therapy...

I cancelled my Trib subscription last year. I start my day with SCC and Chicago Breaking News. That's it. I don't trust the rest of them. Keep up the hard work and good journalism, SCC...what do your friends call you? S?

OT If you read the trib today, they have an article about falsifying attendance records at the school. If the media years ago would have beleived us instaed of castigating us, a lot more of Orr H.S. students would be serving prison sentences. And we would not have been subjects of false lawsuits.

The complete screwing up of the Chicaqgo PD, and the Illinois State Police, is due to the constant liberal Democrat meddling into these once fine law enforcement agencies. Will some honest politician, [if there is one anywhere around here] present a bill to the State Legislature, making it a crime to meddle into the affairs of law enforcement agencies for strictly political purposes, and rewarding of pay to play individuals employed by them, with promotions, nice positions, perks, etc? Make it a crime for politicians to meddle into law enforcement agencies business, theres enough inter-department backstabbing going on already. Remove all politically connected allowances for promotion positions, go by performance on job only. This way, the people who pay our salaries, the taxpayers, will truely get the best qualified individuals for leadership positions within law enforcement organizations, not politically connected buffoons.

SCC, I can just imagine the time spent keeping the website updated and probably going through numerous comments on a daily basis. As a citizen and CPD supporter I am very grateful for your time and effort in keeping us all informed. Just have to say (from a song) "you're like a drug that's haunting me" and have to log in daily to get the news in this city and state told as it should be...accurately. Keep up the great work!

The Monsignor McMahon I knew was pastor at Little Flower. What a reverend he was - monsignor and a lawyer to boot! He pushed education, education, education to the families with large numbers of kids (5 was small - 12 and 13 were not rare,)built a grammar school and a high school and every parish family was expected to pay one way or another(money or you worked the bingo - kids or no kids). So many of us were first generation college graduates because of his push. Appreciate him more now than then - he was not warm and fuzzy.

Rush Limbaugh describes his talk radio program as: 'Show prep for the the MSM (mainstream media)'

Noting the increasing frequency of information original to this blog appearing in local newspapers, I am begining to think of SCC as: 'show prep for the Chicago media'

............................................. Concern yourself with your own local politics.
Oak Lawn for example, you talk about nepotism and favoritism and connections and corruption. That city board is impossible to fight against.
If they deem your house to be torn down they will do it. Then they say the lot is too small to rebuild. But wee will buy it from you for pennies on the dollar. Next thing you know some connected contractor is building a McMansion on it.

God Bless SCC !!

It is refreshing to find a place that really tells it like it is. It's also refreshing because you point out where the "Stink of Corruption" eminates from.

Contrary to what that corrupt alderman of the past said "Chicago Ain't Ready for REFORM", the truth is that we are long overdue to rid our goverment of the vermin that is currently in power.

One term max for Mayor, Alderman, County Board President, etc, etc, etc. End the Corrupt Dynasty's NOW.

Thanks SCC for a step in the right direction.

Thank you SCC. At times i get agravated by all the whining from my fellow coppers, but when I want to know the "real scoop" I turn to you. I have seen comments that have been completely wrong and off base, but never a thread. You do your research, which is why i keep coming back. I also believe that you are making a big impact on our city's political disatisfaction. keep you and your staff annonymous, for our own good.

It is popular because it contains a lot of thoughtful topics. There is some very funny humor at times and it is a good sounding board. Plus it is a good source of info first hand, not filtered for us citizens who hear the BS from the media, Daley, Heard and MIKE MASTERS. Anyone know, is MIKE MASTERS related to Allen Masters, the infamous DEAD IN PRISON lawyer who was involved in the death of his wife (in the Sanitary Canal in Willow Springs) in the 80's? There is some conflicting information and I'm wondering if anyone knows? From not a cop, rather a citizen who is inclined to wonder about MIKE MASTERS.
