We wouldn't bet money against this being the case:
- One would of thought that Mayor Daley would have been proud and happy that a member of his body guard detail had captured one of the escaped murderers.
The truth of the matter is Daley blew a gasket as usual. He was shouting and screaming at his summer home about one the CPD officers assigned to his detailed got involved on this arrest. Daley was heard shouting about how the news and the public will now start writing about why CPD officers were "guarding" Daley while away at his summer home in Michigan.
This mayor is a true stroke job. Once again more worried about his public relations than what the cop did to protect him and his family who were present.
Since he has most of the media under his thumb already, we doubt they're going to tweak him about taking half a dozen or more of his detail up to Michigan at Sergeants pay with vehicles and who knows how many overtime hours on the eve of numerous layoffs.
It's so easy to believe the worst about the stuttering midget because time and time again, it proves to be true. He truly is an evil bastard that is driving this city to ruin.

Yes i remember when he got pissed in the car,slammed his door like the baby he is (spoiled brat), the window shattered and he blamed his driver! It is tiring also driving his rich drunken friends home, and when maggie dumps the movies and you have to run all over the city to return them, but the overtime is great!
there was a story, to the efect, that shortshanks was so "upset" that his driver couldn't get him through some heavy traffic (not sure where they were going) that he reached over the seat and slapped his driver on the ear, yelling that the driver should "drive faster", or something like that....if that sob aimed at me, guess what...
With this incident along with the fire incidents in Michigan, it is now more media/public justifiable to have a guard detail with the mayor at all times. Not that I agree... but Im just saying..I mean spinning!

Wrong.
If he is indeed a sworn CPD officer, then it was his duty to get involved. All officers, no matter what town, suburb, city or state they work for has a duty to act if they suspect a crime is or may be attempted.
Now what do you think would have happened if this guy stayed in his car, on his post, and watched these guys walk down the street and into one of the other homes on that block? Or what if they confronted one of Daley's neighbors as they were pulling out of their driveway?
I'll tell you what would have happened.....the press would have been all over it! Residents on the block would be standing in front of live t.v. cameras wondering why those police officers did nothing. If Daley goes to his vacation home with any regularity, then it would be common knowledge to his neighbors that he has his own security force of SWORN CPD personnel. In fact, since he seems to need to feed his gigantic ego all the time, I'd be surprised if he didn't mention (brag), to a neighbor or two about having them around. Plus the local police department would no doubt know about them too.
So now you have all these people who know about the security detail of sworn CPD officers who just happen to be in the right place at the right time........and none of them left their post when it became known that at least 1 known prison escapee was less than a block away, on the street, in plain site.
Not only would this officer ( or officers) be dumped off the detail, they would probably face disciplinary actions for not taking the appropriate action. They city would probably be facing another lawsuit ( yes, this happened in Michigan but anything is possible these days) from the people who were hurt in the encounter and these officers would be facing a civil lawsuit that would financially ruin them.
And while all this would be happening, you would see Daley talking to the media saying how tragic these events were and how he just doesn't understand why those police officers did nothing.

Not only that when he gets mad he throws shit in the car! He is nothing more than a spoiled kid! The criminal though has everyone afraid to indict him!
At best the mayor's security detail is pretty much low-key, low-tech and not terribly exciting. Pretty much the same as any executive security detail.
There are other government officials from Chicago whose demonstrated security needs and the responses to them are far more elaborate but these are people like federal judges who have put away mobsters, etc.
You can read between the lines.
And how an official treats his/her security detail says a lot about the individual as a person. In talking to the secret service guys, daddy George Bush, for example, was the type of guy who'd bring his agents a midnight snack from the kitchen as opposed to having them go get it.
I never had a lot of contact with the son but his dad and mom were always nice to us and were the type of people to invite you in. My impression of the son is that he isn't the brightest bulb in the hardware store.

BELLEVUE, WA – The capture of a convicted killer Monday near the Michigan vacation home of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley proves that guns in the right hands are necessary for personal safety, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

One of my favorite stories about the little king, which can now be told since all the firefighters that were there are dead. When he was in high school, and was left home alone one weekend evening, he decided to have a girl over. The question is: does he reimburse the city for expenses with regards to his protection that go outside of his function as a mayor. For instance, if he is in Michigan, the added expenses of his detail travelling there should be picked up by himself. He is not in Michigan in an official capacity.
They should not be protecting his personal property when he is not present.
If he has Police paid for by the city protecting his personal property he is possibly violating federal law, misuse of public funds.
The fact that he his personal property may be targeted because he is the Mayor does not justify the misuse of public funds to protect it.
This is however a silly argument; it is frivolous.
Considering the scope of obvious violations of the public trust (quick everyone think of five examples of this,,easy to come up with aren't they ?) His oblivious and imperial style of municipal management, his lack of leadership on many levels, not the least of which is allowing the crime rate to skyrocket while he dances to the beat of an international Olympic committee, his track record of hiring corrupt (Sanchez) or inept (J-Fed) leaders for city departments, the fact that large segments of those city departments are unresponsive and unproductive (how many water dept workers does it take to do the smallest repair, how many Aldermen hacks are sleeping right now in some office doing nothing ?)
How bad has morale fallen on the Police Department due to horrible management from the top (J-Fed) to the middle (your typical merit promoted political hack)that De-Policing has occurred on a vast scale. History will rank the 2008-9 De-policing of Chicago as one of the major factors in Daley's downfall as well as the slow inevitable decline of Chicago toward post rust belt Detroitism.
Looking at all that the guy has done to destroy our city,,,absconding with public funds in the form of security protection for his personal property, a clear defined violation of Federal law, this misuse of public funds is pretty far down the list of reasons to shitcan this man into retirement.
Just remember friends, after any dictator falls, it leaves a political vacuum. Don't expect too much from the next Mayor, its going to take a long time to undo what King Richard the Shortshanks has done to us. Deposing the dictator, however, is a necessary first step. In this case the evil we don't know cannot be worse than the evil we do know.

Will he allow orders, rules and regulations that seem to thwart the Police Officer's ability to protect themselves because it is politically expedient ? (heavy weapons qualifing being all but impossible if what I read is true)
Will he fall over and play dead when paying out claims that are commonly known as "ghetto lotteries" despite the long-term effects of paying those claims and the cost to individual Police Officers when left blowing in the wind ?
A new Mayor couldn't possibly fuck you worse than he has.

He didn't reach over and slap him, he punched him in the back because he couldn't move the vehicle because State was doing a DUI mission on Stoney Island. They were heading to the "lake" and he was drunk. He also make reference about the officer's "f---ing wife."

No they make almost 160K a yaer plus new cars, so figure about 170K with cars,new hires are about $40,000 per year so you could hire about 8 for 2 commanders who are P.O. by rank, but they get 75% of the commanders pay for pension so about what? 136K yearly pension for getting coffee? Another big ripoff of our pension funds!

I don't know who is the kid here, but you are totally incorrect. The pension benefit of ALL sworn personnel is based on the best 4 years (48 months) out of the last 10 years in salary. I don't know that there is any requirement to be in any rank for any length of time. Contrary to what you wrote, the exempts pensions, until the late 60's or early 70's, memory fades with time, was based on their civil service rank. That was how they paid in and that was how they collected. AS I recall the same was true of Detectives at one time, because they were an exempt rank. By the way, exempt means exempt from career service, or in the old days civil service. Many of you seem to be confused about that.
