Man Punches Police Horse
A 21-year-old man spent the night in jail after he allegedly punched a Chicago police horse near the Lollapalooza music festival.
The alleged offender, Pablo Fernandez, approached the officer on horseback in the block of 500 East Congress Plaza Drive at about 9 p.m. Sunday, intent on petting the horse, police said.
When the officer ordered Fernandez to move aside, Fernandez reportedly refused and punched the horse, causing the animal to panic and rear back on its back legs in the middle of the crowd present for the three-day music festival [...].
Fernandez, a citizen of Mexico without a local address, was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct, Lesniak said.

An out-of-towner drove his car into a ditch in a desolated area. Luckily, a local farmer came to help with his big strong horse, named Buddy. He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move.

Many years ago we had a similar tragic incident on the Near North Side. A canine handler was walking his dog near where there was a mounted officer on his horse. Somehow the dog became enraged and began crazy barking and attacking the horse. The horse responded, reared up giving the dog the hoofs and throwing off his rider and running into traffic where he was hit by a truck.
It was a terrible sight; the dog lay on the curb bleeding from the head and body. The canine handler was totally distraught, and asked me to do what had to be done. I pulled my revolved and put the poor beast out of its misery. The horse lay in the street screaming with broken legs. I steeled myself and shot it twice.
I walked over to the mounted officer who lay in a heap, bloody nose and his neck, arms and legs contorted. I asked him how he was.
He yelled, "I NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE!"
OK, I made part of this up, hope everyone including the horse is all right.
I would pay good money to watch pugnacious Pablo try that stunt with a wild stallion or a Great Western (Australian) Red kangaroo.

I doubt that.
Prior to 1965, the US allowed 165,000 immigrants a year into the US. After the signing of the 1965 civil rights act those numbers began to grow exponentially.
Now looking at current projections, unless we stop the flood of illegals entering this country and go back to pre-1965 levels for legal immigration by 2030 we will become a 3rd world country.
By 2030 illegal immigrants in this country will outnumber natural born residents.
The cost of this assault on our borders is overwhelming. In California alone, a new school must be constructed everyday (in perpetuity)just to keep up with the demand!
In 1965, those lawful immigrants were rocket scientists, researchers,doctors,bankers,political refugees, etc.
Today, they are cooks and bottle washers, functionally illiterate, with only an average of 5 years of elementary education.
The best way to help those less fortunate, is to keep them in their own countries and provide some form of direct assistance. NOT bring them here and attempt to help them. This is what ultimately lowers our standing to 3rd world status!They are poor and hungry now, they'll be poor and hungry tomorrow still. Bringing them here doesn't even make a dent in the problem! But only ensures the demise of the USA.

I am an American of Mexican heritage. Note- I don't call myself Mexican first and then American. I am an American first and Mexican is my heritage just like you Irish, German, Italian, etc... cops.
It's a shame that people of non-white ancestry try to become Anglo's in this country. For example, there are many Latinos who try to "Americanize" their last and first names. We should be proud of our cultural heritage. Asians do it more often than anyone else. "Chung" becomes "Chuck" and "Duck" becomes "Donald".

Concerned about a political backlash from struggling homeowners, Mayor Daley tried Tuesday to portray a $43 million property tax increase for Chicago Public Schools as an “abatement.”
That’s because his handpicked school officials wanted to raise property taxes by the maximum allowed by the property tax cap, as they have for 11 of the 14 years since Daley’s school takeover.
Instead, the mayor demanded that they cut the increase in half.
“They’re not raising property taxes. We’re abating 50 percent of the property tax. ... Instead of going up to $83 [million] or $100 million, we’re abating about fifty-some million,” Daley said.
“We’re abating almost 50 percent [of what the tax increase could be]. That’s what we’re doing. Any other questions?”

Using the Mayor's logic, we police officers should give the Mayor a 6% "abatement" in police officer's salary by our being willing to settle for only 20% raise instead of the 26% the FOP originally asked for.
We would be "abating" almost 25% of what the raise should be if we got what we originally wanted.
There, we just saved the Mayor 6% in police salaries and gave the mayor a nice "abatement" to feed the taxpayers.

As for unpaid furlough days, according to FOP officers today, we (PO's) already give the City some 20,000 "free" days a year in the form of suspension days. That's where our unpaid days go.

A 16-year-old admitted gang member has been charged with disarming a uniformed Chicago police officer and stealing his service revolver, authorities said.
Dominique Dillon and two others approached the officer, 32 as he drove to his home in the 5700 block of South Michigan after his shift ended at 4 a.m. on Aug. 1, Cook County prosecutors said.
The trio ordered the officer out of the car and onto the ground when they saw his uniform. One of them said, "Kill him. Kill him. He's an officer," Assistant State's Attorney Jodi Peterson said.
Dillon, of the 6200 block of South Indiana, took the cop's cell phone, some cash and gun, Peterson said.

I have clients in Puerto Rico, (own dairies (plural), HEAVY EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTORSHIPS, and Sherwin WIlliams DISTRIBUTORSHIP among others); Mexico (BANKS and CHEMICAL PRODUCTION PLANTS); Dominican Republic (ASPHALT PROVIDERS FOR THE ISLAND); and Brazil (Banking, Chemicals, Paper, Cement etc on a GLOBAL SCALE).
For too many years, the Anglos have just assumed the entire lot of Hispanics were just ignorant poor people. Have you not taken notice of how many tourists come HERE to shop, vacation and just plain relax AND treat our citizens with more dignity and respect than the US Citizen asshats that live here and go there for vacation EVER show their country's citizens when traveling there?

Years ago the irish and Germans and Polish and Italians were all the bastard stepchildren of immigrants. There were cries of watch out, the country is going to be all Irish or German or whatever. Most became hard working members of society and now consider themselves to be solid and proud Americans.
Same with Mexicans.
The close proximity of Mexico and the flow of illegal immigrants paints all with the wide brush. You can't have porous borders and then complain because people eager to get here take advantage of those gaping holes in the border.
I have no problem with Mexican immigrants, I do have a problem with illegal immigrants but that includes much more than just Mexicans. There is more illegal immigration that comes through Canada but it is Mexico that gets all the bad press.
There are loads of illegal Polish and Irish still coming here, and about every other nationality you can name.
Amnesty isn't the answer, they did that some years ago and were supposed to revamp immigration, We make the rules, if the rules are lax and people take advantage, then shame on us.
But one thing really irks me, my grandparents came here from Poland and within a few years learned English good enough to get by. Now with everything in spanish an immigrant never has to learn the language. That is an insult to every other immigrant who studied and worked hard to learn another language as an adult.
So, come here, make a family, make a home for yourselves, but learn the damn language!

I did not know that Jody Weis was an FBI supervisor that terrible day. Now I dislike him even more. He was there and presided over that day of FBI shame and now has the fucking gall to pretend to be our leader? The fucking asshole! Fuck him all the more.

1. If someone is from mexico, I'm calling them mexican. Just like everyone else in the world refers to anyone born in the United States as Americans. If I'm called an American, is it because of my race? If anyone acts like an animal, I'm calling them an animal. Prove that it's based on race.

There were a lot of people from Mexico at Lollapalooza and a lot came to see it on vacation, you guys are so jumpy.

Many years ago we had a similar tragic incident on the Near North Side. A canine handler was walking his dog near where there was a mounted officer on his horse. Somehow the dog became enraged and began crazy barking and attacking the horse. The horse responded, reared up giving the dog the hoofs and throwing off his rider and running into traffic where he was hit by a truck.
It was a terrible sight; the dog lay on the curb bleeding from the head and body. The canine handler was totally distraught, and asked me to do what had to be done. I pulled my revolved and put the poor beast out of its misery. The horse lay in the street screaming with broken legs. I steeled myself and shot it twice.
I walked over to the mounted officer who lay in a heap, bloody nose and his neck, arms and legs contorted. I asked him how he was.
He yelled, "I NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE!"
OK, I made part of this up, hope everyone including the horse is all right.
