This city is run by morons. And the people who report it aren't much better:
Mayor Daley’s Chicago 2016 panel has no problem with committee member Michael Scott’s role developing a for-profit real estate project near a planned Olympic venue, according to a statement the organization released Tuesday night.
Scott met with Olympic bid officials Tuesday to explain his plan to develop residential and commercial units on city-owned land kitty-corner from the proposed Douglas Park cycling venue. Scott has said he was working on behalf of a group of West Side ministers, although his name alone appears on the venture’s incorporation papers.
So the hand-picked committee has no problem with a Daley insider making crooked deals? What a shocker! And the "ministers?"
- Scott’s politically connected team of ministers, which includes Rev. Charles Robinson, a Daley-appointed member of the Chicago Transit Authority board...
Gee, the connections just get clearer and clearer. How come our Pension Fund isn't in line to make a few bucks off these deals?

Now it all makes sense. Lil Tommy Byrne also has "invested" in west side property. I wonder who gave him the tip?
While it would be nice to see the various municipal pension funds do nice by their members and insure that current employees will have funds on tap when we retire, Vanecko said that sure bets are only for political insiders and don't qualify under the renegotiated agreement.
Invested funds must be only use a "high-risk strategy of investing city retirees' pension money in developing inner-city neighborhoods."
Let me get this straight: Daley say's Daley's hand picked committee see's no conflict of interest with Daley's guy Scott's corporation developing city land next to a possible Olympic venue, picked by Daley's committee, which Scott is a member of?
Do a little digging and you will see that Mr. Scott had a hand in the Homan Square Development, and several other development in the 010th and 011th Districts.
I think it was Pyramid West Reality. Think he even had a hand in the Puzzle Palace and Habitat properties on Douglas Blvd.
Oh yeah, we'll profit from that Nike store, to be erected on Roosevelt!

Yes. They are Olympic events that they don't talk about, don't televise and don't award medals for.
Most of these "events" occur in the years leading up to the actual Olympic competition and very little documentation is involved at all. Some of these "events" include the Overt Graft event that you mentioned, as well as the Mayoral Money Grab, the Triple Construction Cost Overrun, the Low Bid-Rigging Challenge, the Political Insider Land Development Sprint, the Swimming Complex Swindle, the Behind The Back Bagman Envelope Drop, the Velodrome Builders' Bribe Violation and many more.
You can probably name others that I've forgotten, so have at it my friends!
