- Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man on South Side
Chicago police shot and killed an armed man who pointed a gun at them in the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood early this morning, according to police.
A police officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury to his arm during the incident, which began about 11:55 p.m. Saturday night when police saw a vehicle in the 7900 block of South Kedzie involved in a possible weapons violation in another district next door. According to a release from the Chicago Police Department, police first attempted to pull the vehicle over using lights and sirens, but the driver fled northbound on Kedzie.
The driver, a male, hit two other vehicles while fleeing, disabling his vehicle, the release said. He exited the vehicle, carrying what police said was a handgun, and attempted to flee on foot. Police also exited their vehicles, and when the offender allegedly turned and pointed the handgun at police after going only a short distance from his vehicle, officers shot and killed him.
We expect the headline writer over at the BreakingNews site will be fired shortly, so buy him a beer if you meet him.

THE OFFICERS WERE JUSTIFIED IN SHOOTING HIM THE SECOND HE EXITED THE CAR WHILE ARMED!
This "account" released by our cowardly command staff bolsters the public perception that police officers must allow an armed suspect to engage in a quick draw contest before firing.
Regardless of how this justified shooting took place, the department should release this statment:
"Police were involved in a vehicle pursuit where the suspect's vehicle crashed/stopped. The suspect armed himself as he fled his vehicle on foot and was shot by police."
Totally justified and the public should be made to understand this.

This shooting happened after a bloody night in 009. 7 shot 1 dead. All SD's along with this guy who fled from 009 was also SD. So 2 dead sd's in less than 3hrs. No surprise, no loss.

There was a contrat meeting between the city and FLOP on Tuesday 22 Sep 09. But try to find any info on it looking at current updates on the FLOP site. Also at the vigil on the 18th I heard right from a board member that over 110 people had already put in for the 55 and out health care thing. Rich Aguilar has 91 as of up there as of Friday on FLOP's Site. It is no big shakes to me I've got one in HS and one that just started college, but why the lack of truthful info?

Just looking at the Breaking News site. Just how many of our young citizens were shot, stabbed and beaten to death in the last few days. Also saw the video of the kid beaten, wow again, there are about 50 offenders. Not much love in that community.

you better hope not. even though you only have to work 4 in a row this is an aweful schedule. no more back to back 3 day weekends. more time being burnt and your days off fly by. the 4 ten hour days are the way to go or the 6 days on 3 days off is very good. sure you still have to work six days, but those three days in a row are great. your weekends come up more often and put one day on the front or back and its a mini vacation for the price of only one day. same amount of hours we work now with an extra day off... how can you beat that. six day is still hard, but well worth it on your third day off... especially good for those who wanna work a side job.

4 day weekends. 4 day weeks at other times. Day offs still rotate and you get LONG weekends, Thurs-Fri-Sta-Sun.
Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon.
About 50+ extra days off you don't have to drive to this Zoo. You, and other imbiciles of your ilk will ruin it for the real cops, with your false statements on the CPD Blogs. The 10 hr. day schedule is the way to go, it's almost like bein a fireman, with so many extra days off. Forget the rest, the 4 on 2 off; etc, go for the 10 hr. schedule, you'll be used to it in a couple of periods, and be thankful you have it.

An FYI, the discrepancy between the number of par forms submitted and number posted is due to the fact that all applicants for the 55 health care must be processed out, and approved.
The city is checking to make sure that no one owes any $$$, ie parkers, water bill etc. and an exit interview.

The pilot program is all a scam. The city wanted the 4-2 from the git go.
They know you will have to burn CU and that saves them cash in the long run.
The city is crying about po's siting around waiting for cars on the 10 hour schedule. Well buy more fucking cars. Or, use the overlap time for training or admin. crap.

awful? what are you talking about? if you want a 3 day weekend, burn time, a pd, or a v-day. For 4 weeks you are off at least 1 weekend day--thur-fri,fri-sat, sat-sun,sun-mon. and, if u add a day, then your next work week is only 3 days long! screw working six days! even for 3 days off! the days off may fly by, but so does your work week. have you even worked this schedule? i have yet to talk to someone who has worked it that didn't like it.
It was a wild ride great job to everyone involved. For the distance and speed traveled with no accidents...simply awesome! Funny the midget leaves the country and the news becomes unbiased....coincidence???

I had almost a year on when I first heard it. I activated my emergency equip. and rolled! The greatest call of them all, and I will fight!

Then, unfortunately, you now(as you get older) hear the call(from the office, not COS) and you realize it is your pal. You learn to tell it is more than a pursuit. I don't know how, but it is gut feeling, there is a REAL emergency

Weekend violence leaves ten dead citywide
Ten people, including several teenagers, were killed this weekend in violence throughout the city.
i was working at the firehouse at 81st & kedzie the night this went down and was more than impressed at the response! wow keep up the great work and back each other up.
