Protest Violence....
- What started out as a makeshift memorial for brutally murdered honors student Derrion Albert took a chaotic turn this afternoon outside Fenger High School.
About 250 neighbors, Fenger graduates and self-proclaimed community activists angrily shouted at each other during a boiling protest of street violence during the vigil called in response to the Thursday mob beating that took Derrion’s life.
One neighborhood activist who called herself, “Queen Sister,” chanted through a bull horn and led a group of people to the school’s front door demanding to be let in before being turned away. Some people stood nose-to-nose arguing over whether the gathering should be in memory of Derrion or a protest of the violence that killed him. Chicago police were there to calm the crowd.
How pointedly ironic that the violence the claimed a life breeds more violence that, more likely than not, will claim more lives as it simmers, boils and explodes.

The sad part about the whole thing is the way the media reports what "happened". When the off-duty shot the honor roll student who was shooting someone else, the police "gunned" him down. Never spoke to the original victim. The police shot him, therefore to the media, he was a saint no matter his past.
Let's observe the media's take of the Fenger beating. Honor roll student caught in a bad spot and beaten. All involved are horrible people who have extensive histories of arrests and violence. Bad people who should be put away for life. The video shows horrendous acts of unspeakable violence.
Now let's play devils advocate. Let's say the police showed up before the young man was beaten to death and shot and killed the board-yielding subject who was about to bash the innocent civilian in the head. Now, ask yourself these questions: A)would the media have shown this footage under these circumstances? B)Would the media and reverands be calling for the assailant's head, or would he be the victim of police brutality? C)How would the media have portrayed this individual? Would he still be a menace to society or would he be a saint who was "gunned" down by a racist police force? The sad part is, I think we all know the answers to these questions. Does it really surprise anyone? Why tap dance around the obvious, SCC? Violence is culturally engrained in "certain" demographics. Boisterous shouting, finger-pointing and uneducated, juvenile taunts are just the precursors to all-out beatings, "wilding" and savagery in general. Sprinkle in the lack or morals, scruples, compassion and bottomless ignorance for good measure.
You know it. I know it. The public in general is slowly starting to open it's collective eyes to it. About the only ones who DON'T see it, or REFUSE to acknowledge the 800 pound gorilla in the room are those who sponsor and reward such behavior, i.e. Democrats.

Did anyone see on the video the supposed Honor Roll student who was just walking home and never apart of a gang, throwing haymakers at other people. If you watch a second before he gets hit by the kid in red, he throws a big left hook at someone. I'm just sick of hearing how some of these kids are so innocent and caught up in GANG wars. Save that for the real innocent kids that are loosing their lifes to gangs. Even though it doesn't justify it, he was out there fighting like the rest of these bangers, and he got caught by a few savage animals who have no regard for life!

From a bored citizen: I saw the video of the incident and I have to say I really do not care. It was the subject of much conversation at work but my opinion was so what? Who cares? I went to the lunchroom, got a donut and another cup of coffee and went back to work. Twenty years ago I would have been shocked but the whole thing is a yawn. Its been played out most of my life: shocking crime, usual outrage by the usual suspects. Big trial in a few years, a conviction, a ridiculously short sentence and thats it. Although the way some of these "people" were acting afterwards was somewhat amusing. That is some kind of weird community. Kind of like Somalia ain't it? Then it happens again in a few months somewhere else on the south or west side. It is amazing what the city has become in the last 40 years. The only time I care is when one of you CPD or CFD is caught up in that ghetto mess. Then I wonder why anyone would want to be a cop or fireman in that shitty city. And from this blog, I am seeing more people wondering the same thing. I would not want to trade places with any of you.
Some in the public are already blaming the police. It has been reported that a squad car was nearby but did not intervene. Never worked the southside but have worked west in similar situations and will say this: I would not get in the middle of a Hutu style riot either. A two person car is not sufficiently forceful to enter into this kind of situation. This situation calls for a riot formation of six or eight, preferably with helmets and OC canisters. Remember brothers and sisters in blue, we are no longer working in a first world city. The norms of civilizations have yielded to a code of conduct more akin to Zimbabwe than the America in which most of us were raised. Worse than that, our efforts to try to enforce civilization through arrests and prosecutions go nowhere. Juries hate us, some judges too. We are denigrated in the media as racist or brutal. And worst of all Loevy and Loevy and the rest of the ghetto victim bar, have succeeded in convincing juries that we are the real thugs, not the animals who in this video have beaten a boy to death. Keeping all this in mind, I cant say I blame any cop for doing very little.
