Blackhawks Win Marathon

Marathon shootout that is:
  • CHICAGO -- Andrew Ladd made sure the Chicago Blackhawks earned a full two standings points in the longest shootout in their history.

Ladd beat Colorado goalie Craig Anderson with a high shot in the ninth round of the shootout to give the Blackhawks a 4-3 victory Saturday night in their home opener.

"I was just trying not to miss it," Ladd said. "You stick with the one move you have and go for it."

And speaking of marathons, one is going on later this morning. Organizers say the heat won't be a problem this year.

And no Bears.

word has it that huet was stretching in case they needed him to take a crack at anderson--- very entertaining hockey game in which the hawks showed the heart they will need to take it to the next level--- they refused to be denied tonite... huet has got to make the big save once in awhile for this thing to work--- when a goalie gets beat on a marginal shot it affects everyone on the team--- while huet shows brilliance he sometimes muffs the easy ones which has really got to be pissing off his team mates--- the hawks should have easily beat the red wings at the joe with a solid performer between the pipes... this could be the hawks year with toughness on both sides of the puck but why did they let khabby go--- probably the same reason they let belfour, hasek, savard, roenick, amonte, and havlat go--- stupidity....

Just wait until a year or two from now and see what happens to the roster. The Blackhawks have serious salary cap issues, that's why they let Havlet walk and with the cap issues they are going to need to trade or cut some major talent from this current team. Dale Tallon really fucked this team over financially.

I see you're displaying the Nobel Prize for Literature in your margin.

I know it's early but I'm not too comfortable with Huet being our #1 goalie.

Oh, that's where Craig Anderson ended up. The Hawks had him for a little bit, but had no real use for him. He grew up in Northbrook and Barrington...

For the person who hates Chelios you must not know much about him. In the years he was here he did more to help advance hockey in Chicago than any other player. Each year he hosted a hockey camp for both kids and adults which featured leading players from throughout the NHL who worked one on one with those in attendence. On the last day a huge party was held and prizes were raffled off. His Cheli's Children Foundation helped youth hockey in Illinois more than most know. He was always very accomadating when at rinks and never denied an autograph or photo with a kid. Even when at a rink to watch his own boys play he still took time out for the fans. Class all the way, it broke his heart when the Hawks traded him and if they are smart he would be brought back just for his leadership skills. Remember he took the heat for the team at the Olympics, not many would do that.
