Police Shooting

  • A Chicago police officer shot a motorist who pinned the officer's partner to a fence with an SUV this afternoon, police said.

The man, whose identity was not being released, was critically injured in the shooting, which happened about 4:25 p.m. near Roosevelt Road and Sacramento Boulevard, authorities said.

His condition had been stabilized by early this evening, police said. The officer pinned against the fence received minor injuries, police said.

Speedy recovery officer.

Speedy recovery to the injured officer.

Did he shoot him while he was still in the vehicle? Then I'm sure we'll have the store front rev's and Monday Morning Quarterbacks screaming that the officer violated department regs and should be fired. The motorist will get a lawyer and present himself as a law abiding citizen who had lost control of his car while on the way to pick up his honor student from his Debate Club meeting.

God, 5 more months and I can retire.

Just finished qualifying for the retired officer concealed carry. It feels good. Thanks to shortshanks I had to go all the way out to Will County, the Deputies out there were great. To my brothers and sisters on the CPD hang in there and be safe; in the end it is worth it.

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL OFFICERS AT CALLBACK:

All Officers sitting at Call-Back should contribute $1,000 each and obtain the best fair labor practice or EEOC Attorney (ensuring they have no ties to city hall) in the City of Chicago. You should file a class action lawsuit against the city and the upper echelon of the Police Department.

The situation with Commander Wedster is an out and out disgrace. She not only has not been disciplined, but has been given a created assignment. In addition, she was allowed to adjust her statement to IAD several times. All of this must be available through the Freedom Of Information Act. This is a perfect example of undefined discipline and a double standard.

There is an Officer who will be reporting to prison shortly if he hasn't already, for accepting tips from tow truck drivers. I am not condoning or condemning. This is the same violation the Commander committed.

Ernie Brown has numerous sustained CR numbers. There is documentation of Officers that have been fired for the same violations. Not only was he not fired, he was promoted.

If you can get fifty Officers at Call-Back to walk in an Attorney's office with $50,000 and the bet that there is more where that came from in the city's deep pockets, do it. Name the Mayor, Superintendent, and any other Exempt who had anything to do with these injustices.

You may also help out all of the rest of us because a lawsuit may force the Police Department to define merit and what qualified these Exempts for promotion.

I hope you guys think about this. I assure you, if I were there, I would be leading this band wagon.

Maybe Northside can help you out with researching an Attorney.

Good Luck to every working Copper getting fucked while these goof bosses get bigger pensions.

Why didnt he just shoot the engine and make the car stop? He didnt have to do that boy like that. He didnt even have a license. So how was he supposed to know how to make the car stop?

Another reason to take extra caution everytime you make a stop. These people have no respect for the police. consider every stop made a felony stop. They know you r the police, we know nothing about them. Consider every person as a dangerous armed offender. Protect each other, check on each other when you see another unit on a stop. DO NOT GET LAX. These days we only have each other to protect us. More and more violent acts are being committed against police each day. Stay Safe, Watch Out For Each Other, Go Home To Your Loved Ones.

off topic.. The post office deal fell through last night and will not be sold for 40 million dollars... and in news this morning, a fire in the old post office causing damage. HHHMMMMM, coincidence? maybe, or was a match lit that didnt get out of hand like planned so the city could just claim it as a loss and not have to pay the 1 million a month it costs for upkeep and security for the unused building. Just sayin its pretty interesting. is the city getting that desperate?

The building is owned by the U S Postal Service, right?

I don't think this has anything to do with the city at all.

Great job last night in 011 by Mobile Strike force and 2 011th District Sergeants for apprehending the offender in a double shooting where one was a homicide. This guy was apprehended before the dispatcher ever said that someone had been shot. Goes to show that great police efforts are ignored by the news. There wasn't even a blurb of it anywhere in the media. There was ,however, great coverage for the memorial of the "mother" of three.(all three children were in DCFS custody for neglect)

Ruthie lied and violated rule 14 numerous times. She was paid with money and free tickets to escort Elton John. She used on duty academy instructors. Her punishment? lateral transfer to R&D. I love her streaming video on ethics. A classic case of double standard for exempts.

********************

actually the city owns the building, the post office rented/leased the building for a long time. when the lease was last up, the government(post office) decided to close that location and move elsewhere thus leaving the city with an abandoned hole draining money and resourses

glad to hear that the injured officer is ok and that his partner shot the bastard... it seems that police involved shootings have become almost a weekly occurence, yet we sit here and languish with no contract and no direction... a puppet for a superintendent and a patrol division who just sits back and laughs at some of the promotions and policies that have been coming from the fifth floor... not only do members of the patrol division feel alienated, but what has been done to promote the department to young men and women who may want to make a career out of law enforcement... daley will probably not run again in 2011-- he will not want his legacy to be blowing 50 million on a fairy tale olympic bid or running the city into bankruptcy... there is a huge shit storm brewing on the horizon and it will not be good for anyone who works for the city--- watch for huge cuts across the board by daley as he attempts to make the city solvent before he rides off into the sunset..

Where did you see Cozzi's name anywhere in that post. And you tell me the difference between the Copper in the tow truck scandal and Wedster. None. Except of course there is no discipline for Bosses. There are a ton of Coppers in call-back sitting there for lesser violations than Wedster's. And yes, maybe the City should pay. Every shithead is getting paid on the tax payer dime. And yes, maybe the City should define merit. Unless of couse you know what qualifies Wedster and Brown to be Exempts. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid and pick up the bosses cleaning.

Really, can you give it a rest already. You are obviously someone who worked at the academy and got launched or the boss who didnt get promoted. All of what you stated may be true but who cares. People get away with shit every day. Yes I do know Ruth, as a matter of fact I worked for her in 022. I can honestly say that She was A great Tact Lt. No we are not close, I know her enough to say hello and wish her well when I see her. I can tell you that she stood up for her officers when they stepped in shit. You seem hell bent on rehashing this airport incident. Do you really think anyone cares when you have bosses who beat their wives, steal, use narcotics, and various other things that would get a normal P.O. fired. Really if this is what you are hanging your hat on you better find a new hobby. Dont get me wrong, there is a double standard, but it doesnt just apply to bosses. Get used to it. It's always been this way and it will never change, like merit it's what makes the city work. Now suck it up Sally

Are you KIDDING? I hope your post is sarcasm. Dude could have been living under a bridge for the past ten years after ripping off, disappearing and/or beating the crap out of everyone he knows, but the second he's dead every relative on the planet who dude had never heard of would crawl out of the woodwork and discover how much they really loved, cared about and missed him. And would find an attorney to sue. "he was the kindest, gentlest guy in the world."
