- Even though I have major problems, I will survive I want to thank all of you guys that are making the $10 donations to the families of our fallen brothers and sisters. John Northen told me about the sky blue wristbands that just started circulating throughout the department... I love you guys! I also hear that the CPD and CFD are showing much more UNITY during these stressful times..
You don't know how precious your cards and letters are to me. John asked me this forced choice question: What makes my otherwise miserable existence down here a thousand miles away from home: Without a doubt, that's easy: MAIL CALL! I am so grateful to SCC and SLC for prominently posting my mailing address at the top of their blog sites. John also told me that at the FOP meeting Tuesday night, a full house unanimously believes my mailing address should appear in the December FOP Newsletter. With thanks to Mark Donahue and Greg Bella, I have been receiving the newsletters at Oakdale. Aside from that and your letters and barring national news, I have no idea what's happening in Chicago and the CPD. I can't receive subscriptions to the Tribune and Sun-Times because of the distance. Oakdale will not accept newspapers unless they come directly from the publishers.
I have reached my alloted limit for paperback books. Please hold off until John informs you otherwise.
I can't deny it. I'd like to be upbeat but I''m depressed, homesick, lonely and isolated. Basically, I keep to myself. I agree with John. I have no idea why the Bureau of Prisons sent me down to this miserable place rather than Oxford, Wisconsin. In order, I get the distinct impression that most of the other inmates do not like police officers, Northerners and certainly Chicagoans, Catholics and people of Italian ancestry. Again, your mail has made me stronger and I will survive.
Please wear the wristbands and donate to the families of our murdered police officers.

Jesus Christ, this just rips my heart out.
All money to the widows and children of officers slain in the line of duty as well as the catastrophically injured. This is the kind of guy that Bill is. He wants nothing for himself.
Only a sawbuck and you couldn't donate to a worthier cause. Aside fom the citizenry, I'd would love to see these blue "Cozzi bracelets" on the wrists of every Chicagoan, particurly ALL oor brothers and sisters and our brave firefighters.

When he worked 025, he was always there for us and would even pop clear for our jobs. That's what happened that night at the hospital. Another car was assigned and Cozzi volunteered for the job. With an unblemished record, he gives a few harmless pimp slaps to a hollering, spitting, disruptive drunk. The able-bodied moron then behaves and giggles, order is restored in the emergency room and Bill goes to prison to rot without visitors.

To the person posting a warning about associating with felons, jeez, with so many of our command staff themselves un-indicted future felons don't think for a second I will worry about being seen with my best friend, godfather to my son and one of the best human beings I know just because he caught a dumb felony for having a motorcycle engine with a hot serial number 30 years ago. I can imagine being so far away from home can be a bummer but Oxford was a nice place 30 years ago when it was a state institution.
Today it's rife with gang activity, obviously a lot of it goes back to the Chicago area. The feds may feel that your guy could be endangered if placed here.
On the flip side, why not Duluth or Rochester? That's where some of the federal "celebrity inmates" often land.
Cozzi isn't a felon and we know it. Just like we knew Mike Mette wasn't a felon and we knew and then everyone knew it. We all must stick together and do the same thing for Cozzi and show the people that need to be shown that this man is no felon. He is absolutely no felon. We must be together.
