J-Fed Wants an Extension
According to a few comments, an e-mail and at least one carrier pigeon letter, J-Fed is in negotiations for a contract extension, touting the low number of homicides on his watch.
At this point, we wouldn't bet against Daley giving it to him. The only thing that may justify not extending his stay would be his salary that far outpaces even the mayor's paycheck.

I said it before and I'll keep saying it........
Never, Never Ever Trust a fed.....
(fed should always be small case)
God Bless the CPD......
God Save the United States......
I say give it to him! Ever since J-Fed starred in the "Toxic Avenger" movies, he has been my hero.
They say a good leader can motivate his men to do great things. Well, he's the reason why I get out of bed everyday, put on a pair of extra-tight fitting Dickie jeans, turn my Tactical ball cap backwards, put on my retro-Frankenberry Cereal t-shirt, and then go out and kick ass!
I salute you Evil Monarch of the CPD. Just don't send me to a prison cell in Alaska if I ever get caught doing something by the one P.O.D. camera that actually works in this city.
Let him take a pay cut. Let him get paid a PPOs salary 44k and let see his magic work.
I hope this is an f'ing joke SCC
Unoffical consent decree.

J-Fed seems to have endeared himself to shortshanks. He's doing something right, but it surely is not Police work. Hmmmmm !!
Just think what the stats would look like if we had a real Leader, Supervisors by examination, and exempts who's only present qualifications seem to be clout. They are so clueless !!!!!!!!!! They should be the real police to be an "exempt member".
And also they need to get the Dept up to full strength. The money has always been there in the budget all these years. Some one is full of shit !
Could we please get our contract settled before J-Fed gets his extended?
We're more directly responsible for any drop in homicides than J-Fed & Co.
Are the results of the "Stress and Morale Survey" out yet?
Masters.
rb
I will bet that he stays.
The Supt. will get what he wants this time; consider his contract expires in Feb. of 2011/a Mayoral/Aldermanic elections, the FOP election is March of 2011 and then maybe another Mayoral election/and vast Aldermanic elections will transpire in Apr. of 2011. The Mayor has no choice, but to retain the Supt. until all the political stuff is over.
Earlier this year, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Weis confessed, "I'm sure there's going to be some days when I may, you know, sit back in my chair and go, 'Man, I wonder if I made the right decision?'" With his current troubles, those days may be coming more often than he anticipated.
We have a front row seat to the implosion of what was once the greatest and most highly revered police department in the nation.
Extension my ass! Beat and dont let the door hit ya where the Good Lord Split ya...
How much more before he gets deeeeepppeeerrrrr into our pension fund????
Elect Jimmy Mauer Mayor and cut this pricks head off and hear it bounce off the floor!
What has this guy done for us to deserve an extension!!!
1. Put Carbines on the street (sorry if you cant pass the power test.)
2. Made the merit selection process more open. (Yeah, we would like to eliminate it but this is the best step taken than any other Sup.)
3. Gave us new Tahoes, computers and in-car cameras. (I know some hate the Tahoes, others love them. You say the computers don’t work. That is a grossly overstated analysis. Any working copper knows they work. The cameras have help kill 100's of beefs.)
4. Gave us the 4-2. Finally, after 50 years someone had the balls to get rid of this schedule. And don’t believe it was the unions or city. It was our Sup.)
5. Helped get Mette released. Yes, it was a big help that he stepped in and worked to get this guy out of Iowa.
I could go on but just these five items shows the sup has done more for us than any other boss in the last 50 years.
Give him another 3 years!!!
I really have a strong feeling that Mr. Weiss may end up extending his contract for half the price. Brace yourself officers. Or Cuello.
Get in line. . . . . . . . .
The mayor will do just to piss us off!!! Hey Mr. Mayor, how about not doing it and save the taxpayers $$$$ in bogus salary.
Just remember hes not losing sleep over the fact that you have to work 99 on 1st or 3rd watch. Its on video!

My god man, get up off your knees and have a little respect for yourself. Clean off your face, you look ridiculous with that glaze all over your lips. Here's some facts for you:
1. Carbines were a requirement for the Olympics, specifically, 1000 rifles on the street to avert a Munich type scenario.
2. Open "merit"? All he did was remove the guessing game, he didn't change a thing. It's still the same hacks getting the promotions.
3. Tahoes were a political gift to a connected suburban car dealer, computers still don't work half the time, and in-car cameras have not killed hundreds of beefs. They've killed three so far.
4. Go read J-Fed's 501 blog - the part where he admits he can't give police the 4-2 because it's a collective bargaining issue. It's a City/Union agreement, not a superintendent issue. If anything, Daley let J-Fed have it in an attempt to rehabilitate his image.
5. J-Fed didn't even send a letter to Iowa until a few days before the appeal hearing. Kass took the lead on that issue and made Iowa buckle. J-Fed only didn't stand in the way of Mette getting his job back. If he had not jumped in the way of Cozzi's already served punishment, the whole department would be in a better place right now.
You can attempt to list some more J-Fed "triumphs" and I'll tear those down as well. The man is a walking disaster of "leadership."
Hey, you missed a spot on your face. And you better take this mouthwash too. Snort a little bit of it, your nose smells like ass.
TO 11/19/2009 06:51:00 AM;
I have just two simple words for you, "BILL COZZI". .......nuff said.
GCG
"...The Mayor has no choice, but to retain the Supt. until all the political stuff is over."
11/19/2009 02:18:00 AM
Not true.
He can terminate the Fed's contract and replace him with a "real" police Superintedent and give the new guy a chance to repair the damage to the Dept BEFORE all the elections. Sure J-Fed will have to be paid for the remainder of his 3 years, but since when has 42 short worried about being stingy with our tax dollars?
Now, with a new Superintendent in place, Daley could claim he fixed the Dept and may even gain favor from some of the police officers for dumping J-Fed.
Besides, J-Fed accomplished what the mayor hired him for... to destroy the isolated old boy network in the dept. and make them ALL beholden to him. No longer can the exempts be heavy through another exempt. Now, ALL CLOUT flows through city hall!!!
I could go on but just these five items shows the sup has done more for us than any other boss in the last 50 years.

Sometimes the sarcasm is not as obvious, so I will continue with the thought that you are some deluded wonk in his Policy group. (I will base that on the posting time too.)
First and foremost... COZZI!
Carbines were for the failed Olympics, and the Mayor's decision.
Tahoes, he's taking credit for giving us transportation to our jobs? Weak! They are a terrible choice too, and that is on him.
4 & 2, also not his decision, but now he takes credit for it because it's popular. Pathetic.
If the Mayor renews this guy, he hasn't seen anything yet with moral. He needs a Policeman to run a Police Department. I hope he is beginning to see that, but I am not holding my breath.
He has a chance to reverse it by picking one of the few true leaders in the Department to put it back together. Let's see what HIS decision on this is.
Re: scott Case, someone said: By the way, many inusrance companies do not pay out on policies if the manner of death is suicide. Might be a money issue here.
I think you hit it on the head. In todays Scum-Times there are "civic leaders" calling for this to be classified as a homicide 9instead of a suicide) because the pressure of a possible federal indictment may have pushed him to this. WTF?? Sounds like a money thang...
The only thing that may justify not extending his stay would be his salary that far outpaces even the mayor's paycheck.
----------------------------------
I doubt King daley cares a whole lot what his salary is. His cut from the graft in the city is probably 100 x what his official salary is.
At least Weis is probably clean in that respect.
j-fed's legacy in a nutshell---COZZI--- the sooner this guy is gone the better--- reno 911 is looking for a few new acts, he would fit right in.....

I've been retired for a few years after a 27 year career, and am proud of my service in the Chicago Police Department. Back around 25 or 30 years ago, the CPD WAS an awesome example of a law enforcement agency.
I would estimate, however, that around the time that this mayor came into power, our department began a downward spiral, subtle at first, but then almost at a free fall into mediocrity. This resulted not only because Daley hates the police, but many other societal factors, especially here in Chicago/Cook County, home of the ultra liberals and land of the gov't check takers.
Sanctuary city, Daley Crime Family, corruption in govt and govt programs, liberal laws allowing millions of tax dollars to be awarded in frivolous lawsuits, an attitude of entitlement among welfare recipients and other such factors have caused a shift in traditional methods of policing.
From chasing bad guys to letting them go so we won't get sued;
From thoroughly investigating crimes to no overtime allowed and make sure your other 30 or 40 cases are current;
From apprehending the offenders to sorry, the medical section won't cover that surgery from your IOD;
From 13,500 officers to 10,000(?) officers because the Police Dept is the MAJORITY of the yearly budget;
From experienced and competent leadership to merit hacks and political appointees (jfed, masters, cuello, wedster, burger queen); And so on, and so on.
I don't believe the quality or desire of the officers to be the most highly revered police department in the nation has waned but ALL of the above factors have kept it from being true, for decades.
Today's biggest motivation is to be able to retire in one piece without making waves and to be able to provide for your family throughout without getting jammed up in the process.
While my generation of officers had the same general motivation, we were also able to do the job the right way with less political and economic interference as you guys have today.
In my days, if you truly did what you felt was right, you could be successful. Today, you have to worry about what everyone else thinks is right and you're measured by their yardstick!
Does it even matter anymore what clown runs this circus?

your a douche and you are either jfed himself or masters
Google search for "Chris Kemp" and tell me if this looks like J-fraud...
www.mugshots.com/IMAGES/Mugshot__Chris-Kemp.jpg
He could come back as commander of the 3rd district.
Give J-fed credit for Mette's release? Are you fucking kidding? Sending a letter to Iowa in support days before his eminent release is getting him out? Thats like putting a sawbuck on a team to win when they are up 96 points with 2 seconds left. Boy he really put himself out there. Go back to your policy group and I'll be sure to call you to help me get out of the snow with those stupid v6 rwd tahoes.
The reduction in Homicides was due to happen considering the increase in Homicides was so high in his first year. So if he wants to take credit for the reduction let him take responsibility for his first year as well.
He'll just point to Lovie Smith's record and say "Hey, I'm having a much better season than him".
Today, you have to worry about what everyone else thinks is right and you're measured by their yardstick!

ROTFLMAO
Oh My God!!! Whoever listed the five reasons why Wiess deserves an extension is either on his "policy group", never been the real police, or just a kiss ass punk!!! How is the merit selection more open??? The Tahoes suck. And he has put more ignorant, no nothing, never been the police, pathetically stupid exempts in place than any other superintendant
God help us.

Don't forget he promoted his driver.
Give him a 17 year extension at $1.00 a year. (the catch, he must work all 17 years or he defaults and must pay back the $310,000 per year that he will have collected).
That will put him at $930,017.00 and he can then retire on a pension of a 20 year vet based at 50% of the best of his last 4 years on the job, just like us.
(lets see here, last 4 years at a buck a year, 50% of 4 bucks, leaves 2 bucks a year)
I forgot the GOLD BRAID, OK give him 4 bucks a year.

6. Made it fashionable t be a narrow eyed, inbred banjo player,(a la "Deliverance").
7. Brought morale to an all time low by trying to get him and his friends into OUR pension fund with their exorbitant salaries, while we are still waiting on a contract.
8. Put a man who definitely did wrong, but completed his court anctioned punishment, and suspension time, did what he had to do to get back on only to be railroaded by this fed P. O. S.
You might want out of this fed's asshole, and back into the sunlight and take a look around you Fancis.
I could go on, but just these three items show that he has done more to destroy this department than M-4's, Tahoes, and oudated computers could solve.
I say get rid of this asshat and promote from within.
