He had every person involved in investigating the gun allegations against him dumped out of IAD including the Chief, A LT, a Sgt and a handfull of P.O.s. J-Fed and Brust let it happen. Sounds fair and impartial, right?

Somehow he (or J-Fed) was able to petition the State training board to get his police credentials. How did that happen? This is totally against state law.
Who pulled the strings? That is the real question. Why is he listed as sworn but does not have a civil service rank? He has not qualified with a firearm since his appointment, this would have warranted termination for any other sworn member of the department. Why not him?
There is something unethical going on here to take care of his ego. The state law governing certification of police officers is strict and clear and this guy doesn't meet the standards who pushed the training board to give this guy a free pass?

Ex-soldier faces jail for handing in gun
A former soldier who handed a discarded shotgun in to police faces at least five years imprisonment for "doing his duty".
Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year.
The jury took 20 minutes to make its conviction, and Mr Clarke now faces a minimum of five year's imprisonment for handing in the weapon.
In a statement read out in court, Mr Clarke said: "I didn't think for one moment I would be arrested.
"I thought it was my duty to hand it in and get it off the streets."

I'm getting tired of puking in my mouth....
I just want to say thank you to all that came out last Thursday night for the Valadez benefit. Christina and the family were truly touched by all of the support. I also want to thank everyone that helped out with the ticket sales. So many people, many of whom I have never met, stepped up and did so many things on their off time to make this event a success. The people at the Horseshoe Casino also went above and beyond to ensure that this was a success. It was not like any of us had any connections with the people at the Casino. In all honesty they heard about the story and were very glad to lend a helping hand. Again thank you to all!!
On a side note the rumor about Dan Hampton is not true. Dan was gracious enough to sign a football, for no fee, so we could use in our raffle.
Speaking of the raffle, for those who did not attend, or did not hear the announcement, the one minor glitch was that in the final days before the event the Indiana gaming Commission did not allow us to hold the raffle at the event or even sell raffle tickets at the event. The raffle was held in the 007th District this past Saturday. We gave away 5 trips to Vegas among ather prizes. All of the winners have been notified and 2 of the winners of the Vegas trips have donated them back to the family.
I used this forum to get the word out about the event so I feel obligated to give thanks as well. On behalf of Christina and the Valadez family we thank you all!

In the interest of restoring and maintaining the credibility of this department in the eyes of its rank and file and the general public, answers are required. If what Cozzi did was important enough that you referred it to the USDOJ for federal prosecution, certainly a civilian employee of our dept committing at least two on duty crimes (police personation and UUW) requires your attention. Remember JFED, the integrity(assuming there is any) of your leadership demands resolution to these questions.

I don't know Masters and never worked around him so my comments are not based on direct knowledge.But, the man does have superior qualifications and served in the armed forces as a volunteer. How can he be knocked for that? Who cares if he never practiced law, the vast majority of law school graduates never do practice and never set foot in a court room.It seems that a lot of cops just don't like people with an education. I worked nights for 8 years while going to school to get a BA and a MS degree. I also had my fair share of department awards before I retired. The people who were dead set against college educated cops where those who never took the time and effort to advance themselves. Just saying!!

O.T. Academy was notified that the city will actually hire 86 recruits. That will make the total for 2009 of 156 for the year. Of course, this new class will not graduate until June of 2010. 46 in Feb 2009 and 86 at the end of 2009. Policy group has new ideas for this class of recruits. Spanish classes. Between the Holacaust Museum, Art museum and spanish classes, they might be out by June 2010.

Paperwork, the bane of every beat cop's existence, will be shelved for good here.
"Within 12 months, the Chicago Police Department will go completely paperless," says Ron Huberman, a uniformed officer who carries a gun and two master's degrees. "I am 100% confident Chicago will be the leader in police technology."
Already, Chicago police officers can mine a database with 4 million arrest records to track down a suspect by nickname or the description of a tattoo.
Mr. Huberman, who heads the office of information and strategic services, is working with California-based database software giant Oracle Corp. to put a laptop in every squad car, extending the computer revolution to all aspects of police work.
That means detectives will start working a case five minutes after the beat officer files a crime report, instead of three days later, says Mr. Huberman. "They will spend more time solving crimes."
The technology vision starts with Police Superintendent Terry Hillard, but Mr. Huberman's job is to make it work on the street.
Armed with his experience as a beat cop, an MBA and a master's degree in social services administration, "Ron Huberman is unique," says Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. "He's able to combine two worlds: street officer policing and the use of analytical tools."
The forum is working with the city and Oracle to benchmark how Chicago's police technology compares with that of other cities.
"They're light years ahead of most other big cities," says Mr. Wexler. Mr. Huberman "knows how cops think and how to make it work."
Civilianizing the mangement of this Dept. has been a disaster. They hate the sworn. They have no allegiance to the organization, just to their clout at city hall. Like J-Fed, they don't understand what we do. Hence, they all want to do "policy." This explains why J-Fed felt the need to have a policy group of PO's to give him at least rudimentary feedback. The only civilians that are worth a damn are detention aids, and the police aids they got rid of on the desk. Oh, and the clerks at 35th street doing the work, instead of PO's. But they'll be the first to go if there's a cutback.
The majority of these ivory tower elites always looked down on ordinary people. When the original GI Bill was passed after WWII, the President of Harvard said it would create "unqualified people, the most unqualified of this generation" and the President of the University of Chicago predicted educational hobos who would just take up space in classrooms for as long as the money was there.
Good thing "the greatest generation" paid no heed to these bright lights.
Who takes a picture like that and for what? Did he go to a studio and have it done himself? What a complete tool, ass munch puss. Marine or no Marine I'd still like to punch him in the face just to see how he would fight back.

I worked nights for 8 years while going to school to get a BA and a MS degree. I also had my fair share of department awards before I retired. I'm sorry to say, but the Illinois State Police suffered much the same fate under the "leadership" of former CPD Sgt Terry Gainer. It was all downhill from there. Morale was at it's lowest that I had ever seen and people with backbones, good ideas, and real leadership skills were banished from the career ladder, only to be stepped on by career ass kissers and yes men. Those were the types of people who Gainer surrounded himself with. After he left ISP he became second in command of the DC Metro Police, who felt the same about him as ISP did. Then on to the Capitol Police for more of the same. After he finished screwing that department up, once again he lands another sweet gig as Sgt at Arms of the United States Senate. This asshat even has his own Wikipedia page.

"Blog 501" has YET to answer those legitimate questions? When does WEISel or Masters himself intend to let the rest of us SWORN MEMBERS of this Dept. know the answers to these questions? When are we going to see some documentation about this?
