Food Fight Arrests

And although ABC tries to paint it as the fault of the police, it seems to actually say more about the lack of parenting:
  • Eighth-graders Cassandra and Aliyah Russell of Chicago never imagined they'd be arrested in their school cafeteria, much less for throwing food.

But that's just what happened following lunchtime mayhem last Thursday at the Perspectives Charter Middle School, south of Chicago. More than two dozen students, ages 11 to 15, were rounded up by police, arrested and charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct.

"They took us to jail, fingerprinted us, mugshotted us, or whatever, all because of a food fight...I was arrested. Handcuffs on," 13-year-old Cassandra told ABC News.

"We were suspended, went to jail and now have to go to court," said 14-year-old Aliyah.

The sisters' mother, Erica, told ABC News she's stunned.

"Who does that? Lock children up for throwing a carrot, a biscuit, milk, Jello," she said. "Who does that?"

Oh, we don't know. Maybe the Police do that? It's still a battery as far as we can tell. And many of these little princes and princesses talk their dumb asses into a trip to the station rather than a 3 day in-school suspension. If the school doesn't want to handle it internally, it falls on the police to be the bad guys.

And what does it say about the lack of parenting that these kids think they were wronged for being involved in school mayhem? Mama sticks up for them the whole way, so they're learning to manipulate the system already.

So next year, when they're over at Fenger, Manley, Crane, Farragut, Curie, Bogan, or any other of a dozen crap-tacular CPS high schools beating a fellow student to death with a railroad tie, lock-on-a-shoelace, or sock full of rocks, the media can wonder aloud why the police didn't do anything when the opportunity presented itself.

Good for the police. What kind of respect are these kids showing. They get FREE food and throw it around. I wish you could see the lunch rooms after these kids get through eating. First of all they throw away half of their food. The lunchroom workers take plenty home. Disgusting!

They used to go to the rooftops of Cabrini or Taylor/state way Gardens and throw cans of Tuna Beans etc, at people below. The cans would strike the pavement so hard that they would leave a pockmark in the pavement. Yeah nice. Now they throw "free food " around in the cafeteria. I'm sure Mama didn’t pay for it.

And if the Police in the 006th Dist DIDN’T take Action, the headlines would have read: “Police REFUSE to take action on School Violence” …”Shortly after CPS Honor Student was brutally beaten to death…. Officers didn’t do a damn thing in the mêlée at another Chicago Public School…. Huberman prances, stomps his foot with hand on hip…Superintendent J-Fraud says he’ll investigate, fire, do more roids… Mayor throws tantrum, blames Police for loosing ‘Da Limpiks’…bla, bla, bla…

you have to cut it off at the pass--- the food throwing would have led to knife throwing and someone would have gotten hurt--- good job by these officers who prevented someone from being seriously injured by taking action--- the parents should be commending the officers for doing their job instead of crying to the media that they went overboard and locked up little honor student... if the police would have done nothing and someone would have gotten hurt the parents would have been screaming that the police didn't do their job--- my solution to all this is high tech-- all high school aged children should be home schooled--- all classes on home computer provided by cps-- no more fights at school, no more excuses not to go because biggy smalls wants to kick my ass--- you do it all at the crib--- think of all the money that would be saved... the colleges already do it, why not the cps at the high school level--- think of all the kids who drop out because they get picked on at school but they would thrive if they could educate themselves in their own home without worrying about being beaten and shot--- we keep on following the status quo instead of thinking outside the box which is why we are a bankrupted city and state--

I'll bet they all act like this at home ! Put down the 40oz & start paying attention to the lil darlings! How they behave in public reflects directly upon you. If you're not, you should be ashamed. If you had pets that did that with their food you'd banish them to the back yard. Get off your asses & wake up !!!

Crash victim's kin sue cops
The family of a South Side woman is suing Chicago Police, alleging she died after a minivan -- carrying two drug suspects being chased by police -- slammed into her car. Valerie Davis, 42, died from injuries in the Nov. 3 crash in the 500 block of East 63rd, not far from her home. Did you catch that? There is a guy charged with murder in the woman's death, and the lawsuit is being directed to the police. There are ony two ways that such an action can be interpreted, the first being that the family is looking for a payoff and Whitlock's pockets just aren't deep enough, and the second being that the family truly believes that the drug dealer fleeing police officers was not in the wrong in his actions. Each of these interpretations make my head hurt.

And don't be fooled: they love it when the bad press is against CPD and not them. Obviously someone at the school must have called for police; let's let that person stand up and take a bow for ABC.

One would think that but the next time you find yourself answering a call at one of Chicago's honor student churning mills, ask to see a copy of their policy. I answered a call at a local grade school once and the assistant principle showed me their policy book. Whenever they have an unruly student the first step that's listed is "Call 911."

Doesn't matter if they will handle it internally, they call for the police.

Don't hurt your head. They just don't think about family members like you do.

They love money like you love your children. They love their children like you love your neighbor's dog. If the neighbor's dog died, it would be sad, but you would get over it fairly quickly.

Once you grasp this concept it really makes a lot of sense for them to sue.

Let the schools hire their own security. Teachers and students will all turn on the police if you have to actually grab someone and use force to cuff them in the schools. When the schools get out of control, let the teachers call the parents and let them deal with it. The police should not have to police the schools!

The school should have handled this matter. They should bring back after school detention and saturday detention instead of suspensions. However, I am sure the teacher contracts would call for double time and one half. I recall a few years ago, the public schools decided that any tender age student not picked up by their parents at the end of the day would be dropped off at the police station. It took the superintendent to put a stop to this. The 003 district was loaded with 8 year olds from 4 to 8 pm.

Anyone who was ever hit with an egg knows throwing an apple across the room and being hit has a pretty sharp pain on impact.

The should be expelled, not suspended.

Typical CPS. They have stepped away from handling anything. Instead of simply using their Uniform Disciplinary Code any time a child steps out of line its call the police. Whatever happended to in-school suspension. By trivializing and making everything revolve around the police when the police are truly needed the severity of the situation is overlooked, because we are there for everything.

Yeah, I'm a disgruntled youth investigator, sorry, detective. I just don't know how the CPS can teach responsibility when they can't take or act with responsibility.

To the poster who is wondering what happened to the crossing guards-

Once upon a time a crossing guard received full benefits for being a crossing gurd which in reality, is a part time job. Now however they do not. As a result, whenever they feel like calling in sick because it might rain, snow, or the temperture drops below 70 degrees, they do. They have to be replaced by a police officer. There have been times in my district where every single police officer was assigned to a crossing. There were no, none, zero police officers available for anything else. I hope you understand now. I hope you realize where the city's priority's are.

Say Princess with the chevrons at Branch 34, I hope you get a boot in the ass from your boss for your non-sanctioned, unapproved homemade charity endeavor on company time!

This is ruining things for good schools that aren't fool of piece of shit students, and kids who actually finish school. Don't you remember Senior Pranks? Kids fight in school cause they're young and stupid... now adays some kid does something stupid, they have a record. And don't get me wrong, the schools where some of this shit is happening, the kids are going to be pieces of shit, but in okay schools it's gonna be the same punishment for the kids that are going to grow up to be the same good, hardworking police we are just because they're young and dumb.

Start feeding the darlings a hard boiled egg, a piece of toast, apple sauce and milk.
It's cheaper than carrots, and more nutritional than jello.
If food is so " free" to throw
now let them eat out of neccesity and nutritional purposes only.
Can you imagine the shame you would have brought upon your family for being arrested? There would be an ambulance call at the house later that evening!
The mother defending these actions is mind boggling, maybe she would understand the severity of it if they deducted the cost of the wasted lunches from her link card.

Stand by the check out line at any Jewel Food Store, in this city. You will see many people paying for their Shopping Carts Filled With Food. They are paying with Link Cards, or Other Forms of Government Supplement Food. These people are all well dressed, and well fed. They are driving late model automobiles.
News Flash This is not only happening in the low income areas, they are happening in the higher income areas. Fact: there are no people going hungry in the city of Chicago. It is a political tool, that is being used by the Democrats to move their own agenda.

That couldn't have been an easy decision. "Good call" to whoever made the decision to lock'em up. These "kids" are no joke, they need to be taught. If not by their parents, then it's the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS.
