Illinois to Crash & Burn

  • In Arizona, the budget has grown so gloomy that lawmakers are considering mortgaging Capitol buildings. In Michigan, state officials dealing with the nation's highest unemployment rate are slashing spending on schools and health care.

Drastic financial remedies are no longer limited to California, where a historic budget crisis earlier this year grew so bad that state agencies issued IOUs to pay bills.

A study released Wednesday warned that at least nine other big states are also barreling toward economic disaster, raising the likelihood of higher taxes, more government layoffs and deep cuts in services.
And Illinois is right there, circling the drain.

I have 9 years to got until I'm maxed out. I'm sure by then they will change the state law and start taxing my pension once I retire. Just another way to drive out cash spending residents from this fine state.

Arizona? California, Chicago, has any policy group taken a look at the connection between governments going broke and the tax base (i.e., a census of people who live there)? We are being taxed to the teeth and still there are problems. So what's the real problem?

Yet no one will utter the "I" word. Illegal aliens. The crushing cost of providing services to illegals is perhaps 30% of many state's budgets. With blind eyes everywhere, it may be too late. Look to Barry to announce full amnesty. And may God help our children.

Vote all incumbents out. Back the guy or gal with solid American values. If a candidate is backed by a criminal or other miscreant don't believe the lies stated to cover it up. We can still get out of this mess if we work together.

I read somewhere that California is imposing a 10% payroll tax to all California working taxpayers. I don't know if it is a one time tax or not. Can you imagine that? You know it will come here eventually. Government has stopped serving. There is a provision in the Constitution to deal with these types of crisis. I will leave it at that.

In almost every State that is in financial trouble they point to pensions that are the major cause of their problems. Never the 142 failed social programs or school districts that they administer. Next words out of their mouths is to raise taxes and lower pensions, but they always exempt their own pensions in the State Capital, just like with the Health Care reform in Washington now.

The time to retire is now before they start taking everything from us. Defined Benefit Pensions will be a thing of the past in ten years. At least our pension is in Article Five of the State Constitution and our Health Care in now in the contract with the 55 and out coverage. By Supreme Court Decision your pension can not be changed after you retire. I just hope that people who are sitting on the fence waiting for the retro check do not get screwed by Springfield or Washington.

Guys and Gals if you are between 55 and 60 after April 1, 2010 and do not put in to take the 55 and out healths care package YOU LEAVING YOUR FATE IN THE HANDS OF DALEY AND SPRINGFIELD. You can always withdraw the PAR form. The smart bet now the way contract negotiations are going is to take a 13th period furlo and put you papers in for 15 Nov 10 or sooner. If your financial goals are not met you can always pull the PAR form.

What happens if you get your retro and now want to retire but did not put in a PAR form? You have wait another year to retire (after 01 Jan 11) or pay for you health care out of you pocket. If you do that can anyone out there tell me WHAT IS DALEY GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR HEALTH CARE TWO OR THREE OR FIVE YEARS DOWN THE ROAD? Do you trust that man or for that matter anyone in Springfield either?

I’ll be 60 this coming summer so why would I care about this stuff anyway? I would hate to see 4-5 hundred people get screwed by Daley because they are INDECISIVE. If you are not sure just call FOP or Mike Shields at the Pension Board and ask if anything I have stated above is off base! Do not believe rumors get the facts for yourself!

Be safe not only on the street but in your financial planning! Do not get screwed because you could not pull the switch! We all hate change, but I have yet to met anyone who left before 63 who did not say they should have left sooner! Life on the other side is good!

Don't hate me but I think that the biggest drain on the economy is the war going on since 2001, I am an independant and supporter of said war so calm down.

Because of this war the government needs to budget itself accordingly, this health care thing has got to be put on the back burner.

The back door restitutions to the black community(all 19%) has got to be stopped.

You dont change the window treatments when your foundation is cracking.

The present administration has got to get around this and be freakin up front and honest with the citizens of this country.

"I'd like to thank my sponsors: Sig Sauer, Federal Ammunition, DuPont Kevlar, and Second Chance, for helping make this arrest possible. Our Ford Fusion police car performed absolutely wonderfully in the chase, and those fleeing felons didn't have a chance once we got on their bumper. The Rock River AR and Federal Ammunition did everything I asked of them, and I'd like to thank my fellow officers and the guys in the garage without whom this arrest wouldn't have been possible!"

I can hear it as if it was on the TV...
