What Could Go Wrong?

  • Gov. Quinn Tuesday defended his plan to release up to 1,000 inmates, a step that begins this week and eventually could save the cash-strapped state $5 million a year.

By the end of this week, 62 non-violent offenders who are within a year of their scheduled release dates will be freed in the first wave of Quinn's early-release initiative.

  • Quinn said those released will be under "constant electronic monitoring" while on parole, and the governor expressed optimism that none of those being set free early will be a threat to society.

"Hopefully they learned their lessons in jail and won't repeat their crimes," Quinn told reporters.

They'll be wearing electronic monitoring bracelets? Well that makes it all OK! Thank goodness we'll be protected. We were worried for a second there. In the meantime, how about we get a gander at that list of names governor and maybe make an educated guess at what their recidivism rate will be? We're going to take a stab at it and say it'll be around 85% minimum.

"Hopefully they learned their lessons..." isn't going to cut it when one of these assholes pulls a "Willie Horton" on the south side.

Watch yourselves, boys and girls; they've had nothing to do but lift weights the last few years. Let's be careful out there. It's not like we're fully staffed, or anything, so your backup could be far, far away when you need it most.

Let them all out Quinn, who cares! Most of the people arrested in Chicago get off or out either way. You just slapped every cop in the face by doing this so just let all of the criminals out so we can watch them destroy this city!

Letting shitbags out of jail so MAYBE the state would save how much? 5 fuckin million?

So exactly how much is it going to cost to monitor all these assholes? How much is it going to cost the state to prosecute all these assholes once their out on the street again laughing at the stupidity of the state of illinois?

This stupidity is going to COST more than 5 million just to perform constant cleanup.

The rest of us do not deserve to have these f*cking theives unleashed on us and all of our homes burglarized and property stolen.

I wonder how Steve Peterson feels about this money saving program right about now.

F U Pat Quinn! You are DONE in Illinois politics. I just hope we can undue all of the damage you've done in your short time as UNELECTED Governor of Illinois!

the governor should give them all his home address so they can all come on over and personally thank him.... none of them will try to burglarize his home or take any of his property because they went to prison and learned their lesson--- what has this guy been smoking...... probably half of them will be back in the shithouse inside of a year--- what is it costing the state to monitor the early releases-- what will it cost to prosecute some for new crimes which they will commit--- probably a lot more than 5 million which the governor claims he saved by letting them out early...

.........Is UUW/ first time or by a convicted felon still classified as a non-violent crime by the IDOC releasing body? Just asking - it was non-violent not too long ago. If so, there should be some explaining to do, especially in the light of all the shooting deaths. Wonder why the criminals have no fear of the law.

What Could Go Wrong? Let's use this to our advantage.

Maybe we should keep score to see how fast we can lock up all of these assholes up again.

Let's have a competition and award points for each arrest, double if we get their parole violated.

Triple, if they have blood on their hands, and we can document it in time for the next election.

If you get a good arrest of one of "Quinn Kids", call news affairs, better yet call your local reporter with the information. I once wrote, learn how to use those people here's the way.

Stay safe, Pat Quinn just signed his political suicide note.

I might agree with you EXCEPT..
that Quinn lives only a few blocks from my family, and that of a lot of cops, firefighters and other good hardworking-fed-up-with-the-democrats people.

NO, leave them around Shorty's South Loop home, or Obama's or Durban's and J.J Jr.'s digs. What will happen when they rape and kill any of the illegals in the basement of St. Sabina's and what was the plate number of Pflager's black Escalade. Contain the evil in those areas and when the people who have dumped them on us become victims they will cry for justice.

If you get any of these mopes arrested, be sure to notify the Watch Commander, and the news media.

Stay safe, It is going to be a very cold winter, and some of them may want to go back to a warm cozy cell with three hot meals a day.

I read where it costs $24,000 a year to keep one of them in jail.

Out on the street, how much will each one cost in stolen and damaged property, insurance claims, lost wages of victims, stress illnesses of victims, hospital costs of victims, security costs of victims.

Pat Quinn has committed political suicide with this and his taxes, be sure to vote.

Part of the solution - stop arresting, prosecuting, jailing non-violent small-time drug offenders. What's the point? To punish the user for hurting themselves?

Dont' legalize it, but don't encarcerate someone for an 8-ball, some rocks, a few ounces of weed, or a little "hair-on."

There's no rehabilitation for the offender and it's a big waste for taxpayers.

Then, the POlice would have time to do some good work that can actually make a difference.

Fair enough, but don't lump us all in with the nitwits. I'd be in favor of letting them out if we could triple (or add the death penalty to) their original sentence should they be caught again. I'm not a cop, I just don't want these assholes running around where I live.

I watched a special on TV where another state (california???) let a bunch of prisoners go. They thought drug arrests would go way up but the first two things to increase were DUI's and Auto Thefts. Of course the state was immediately sued for millions when the drunk inmates that were still supposed to be in the joint started killing people in DUI car crashes. I don't recall the total cost but it FAR outweighed the cost of incarceration. Illinois never does any research. They just pay some blind or retarded relative of Daley or Burke a half a mil to read a research paper and make a decision. Go Illinois!!!!! We're still the worst!

What the fuck is this world coming to? I believe that one of the only ways to cut crime is to make people afraid to go to jail. And one of the ways to do this is to make prison as miserable as possible, short of (unfortunately)torture. You know, making little rocks out of big ones, etc. You refuse to work, you don't eat.

Or, if that would not work, how about double secret probation?

I am betting the average citizen thinks these guys are in jail for smoking a joint or two, or maybe taking a leak in an alley. I'd be inclined to let those kind of inmates out too if there was no money to keep them in.

Being as they are all guests of the state they are all felons. Not minor criminals.

But if there is no money, what do you do? At some point you have to get revenues and expenditures in line with each other, and revenues are going down. The only real answer is to cut state spending dramatically, but thats not real popular with the welfare set, or government employee unions that all but own the Democratic party outside of Chicago.

The answer is that the state is going to have to cut spending by perhaps as much as 20%. That is going to hurt a lot of voters in the pocketbook.

Anonymous stated that Quinn is a communist...

Did anyone's ears perk up after hearing Quinn in his inaugural speach, and I'm paraphrasing here, "We should do as Che Guevera says and unite and work together during the upcoming difficult times in this state."

I dropped a note off to John Kass about this comment..the Sun Times article said Kass is a good friend of Quinn's...he apparently is, 'cause he never responed to my question.

Where in the hell is the FBI...why aren't they investigating, prosecuting, REMOVING these communists from the "enemy within", the administration/czars in the White House? The FBI, the politiians in Washington took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC! Why aren't they doing their job?

Bring J. Edgar Hoover back... and I don't care how you do it, either.
