North Side Violence

  • Four people were shot this morning near a CHA building in the Old Town neighborhood on Chicago's Near North Side.

[...] A 27-year-old man suffered wounds to both legs and an ankle. He is in stable condition at the hospital. A 28-year-old man, who refused to cooperate with police, was shot in the foot and is in good condition, police said. A 25-year-old man is listed in stable condition at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. The woman, who is 47 years old, also is in good condition with gunshot wounds to her thigh and abdomen.
  • A man was killed Sunday morning following an argument at a jazz club in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The 29-year-old man was shot multiple times in his abdomen and arm at 4:35 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Webster Avenue, according to police...
  • Chicago police are investigating gunshots that were fired at a Mexican restaurant in Lincoln Park this morning.

About 7 a.m., officers went to Las Fuentes Restaurant, 2558 N. Halsted St. and found some of the windows shot out, police said.

Who wanted to transfer police out of "quiet" areas and put them elsewhere? Doesn't seem like the "quiet" areas are as quiet as they used to be.

The good "deed doers" done did it again.
Mr. Good Guy showed up at the scene where 4 were shot near Cabrini Green, not Old Town, picked up the three male victims, drove them to hte hospital. Someone forgot the "lady" lying on the ground full of holes. I guess she eventually got to the hospital somehow.

Let's not forget about the on-view shots fired at 2800 Lincoln or the nice Robbery/shooting at Addison and Southport. Gun, Sat, and Tac teams recovered guns in four separate incidents in 019 and 020 last night. Stay safe.

WTF is wrong with the media in this town? This asshole tried to kill TWO Police Officers, but they want to make it sound like "Oops, my bad. I wasn't trying to hit anyone. I just shot over there. Sorry, didn't see you guys over there!"

I get soooo tired of these asshole reporters!!!

The bad guys know all they have to do is blow a red light or sideswipe a car and the p.o. chaseing them has to stop OR put his "life" on the line.
I took this JOB to make money, not lose it. I have to play by the rules ( cameras, GPS, rule 14, etc...) and until they are changed, criminals will have their way.
TAKE THE HANDCUFFS OFF !!!
I used to love this job.

The "quiet" area of 019 had an officer killed in the line of duty on July 2, 2008 on 1st Watch. Since 1986 there have been three line of duty deaths of 019th District officers. Two by gunfire, one in a squad car accident. 019 is already close to 20% under budgeted strength. How many more can they steal to go elsewhere? How long will the alderman and people who pay the high taxes put up with it? As usual those who pay little or nothing get the most services: those poor miserable oppressed ones with Link cards, those who rise at the crack of noon.

Ughhh.

Gee you mean Evergreen Terrace on Segdwick? Thats a shame. I was active there until Friday. It seems that putting 4 dope dealers on the ground at gun point and recovering a few "8 balls" and a gun was a bit too aggressive. It further appears that tip toeing over some imaginary borderline in order to effect a call WE WERE CALLED TO HANDLE was a bit too "against policy". Well to you sir I say take your policy and border and shove it in your ass. THIS is the result of pulling SEASONED AGGRESSIVE people out of a slum area. THIS is what happens when you replace that with "collect a check, barely off welfare guards that the only fight they encounter is staying awake. THIS is what you get when you turn your head to what IS and WILL CONTINUE to happen at Evergreen Terrace. Not to sound cold but I personally hope this happens 24/7 there. Remember when I left SO DID THE SAT TEAM,GANGS,TACT,and NARCOTICS. Youre on your own now.

Good Luck with that one!!!!

SCC,

Don't worry we are NOT 2,000+ sworn police officers short, crime is not rising and once tranquil neighborhoods are not under seige.

It's all just a figment of your imagination.

This conduct is what killed brother Terry Loftus, over 30 years ago.
His killer, Ronnie "Mad Dog" Carrasquillo (sp?)who admitted to... "just shooting in the direction of Loftus" (a 2 uniform wagon men is still ANNUALLY trying to get out on parole.
He has politicians in his corner i.e. (PR gangbanger himself) Rep. Luis Gutierrez.
So, you see, the more things change the more they remain the same.
RIP my brother(s)
Stay Safe out there all others.

We are way short handed in all Northside Districts!

We constantly have tact teams sent to Westside and Southside, non-existant taxpaying ghetto shit districts to babysit "pookie and company" but leaving the Northside with a skeleton crews!

No rapid cars all day and night! Piss poor backup because we don't have enough people!

Remember P.O. Richard Francis, of the 019 District, was 10-99 on midnights when he was killed by a Westside piece of shit traveling through 019.

These are the results!

I know for a fact, the people in Area 3 are pissed seeing their high taxes and resources moving to poor tax paying parts of the city and leaving them bare!

I constantly remind them to remember that at election time for Mayor Daley and ALdercreatures!

Chalkie has been resurrected from the dead on the Northside!

Off the topic but if a cop gets caught on camera punching someone in the head they would be fired and charged. How come a Chicago Bears player can get away with it?

Gee, I dunno. Maybe because that football player doesn't carry a gun or a badge. Oh, yeah, he also didn't take an oath to get hired.
Besides, the o line's inability to protect Cutler is the real crime.

I don't work in 018 but being a busy district does not mean just people being shot. 018 is probably the busiest district in the city. Listen to zone 4 on a hot summer night on the weekends. All of the gang bangers and assholes come downtown and cause trouble. Bar fights, street fights, gang fights, shootings, and of course the House of Blues! 018 is by far the busiest district and hardest to work in due to all of the people and cameras all over the place. Working in the ghetto is easy, I have done it, most calls are 19P.

5 or 6 a year? There were 4 shot the other night and another one on Webster near Clybourn, I believe that was on the 018 side of the river. That makes 5 in a few days. Another one shot in an armed robbery in 019. Now that ain't no Englewood but it isn't Naperville either.

I live in the 017th district and in the past four years, it has changed dramatically. Slowly it has progressed to a shitty area (I am referring to 3000 West to 4000 West and 4400 North to 5000 North). That area has gone to the shit.

And now, it is expanding. Expanding big time. More shit, breeds more shitheads and vice versa.

I work in the 025th district and when I ask some dirtbags where is so and so. Their reply is usually "oh he at Lawrence and Pulaski" or in another part of the NORTH SIDE!

I agree completely, i've worked the ghetto west and south, and housing, yes the kill each other over dope bs constantly, other than that its domestics and codes; much more scrutiny in districts like 018, 012, 001, 013, 019, 023 due to them having entertainment area that people from all over the city and burbs come too, and bring their neighborhood bs with them, shootings, stabbings, bar fights, gang fights, robberies, wilding, car burglaries etc. and you get real victims, sometimes influential, cameras everywhere as well as never-ending traffic. A much more complex policing situation....
