The Buck Stops...

  • The No. 2 man at Chicago's 911 emergency center has resigned his $149,832-a-year job to avoid being fired for alleged contract irregularities that cost taxpayers $2.25 million.

Jim Argiropoulos, who once served as acting executive director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, quietly cleared out his desk over the weekend. The resignation takes effect later this month after time-due is burned.

  • Without a contract to justify the console purchase -- and apparently unwilling to wade through the normal bidding process -- Argiropoulos allegedly ordered underlings to find a way to get it done. As a result, a phony voucher was issued for 18,000 radio accessories under an existing Motorola contract.
  • Huberman has accepted responsibility for what the inspector general has called a "significant management failure" that set the stage for the contracting scheme.

Sources said he has also ordered Adrienne Hiegel, his top deputy at OEMC at the time, to take a 30-day suspension.

Hiegel is still working for Huberman at the Chicago Public Schools, even though she seems to be hip deep in the slime.

And the "Golden Boy" lives to steal another paycheck after his people stole $2.5 million.

Ah, but we can't have the ONLY person on the face of the earth who can handle OEMC, the Chicago Public Schools, (soon) the Police Department and, ultimately the City of Chicago (right, Richie?)... left holding the bag for this one.

Now, can we, Ron?

Does the Stuttering Prick have a "man crush" on this inept suckhole Huberman?

I'd bet that Dirty Little Richie flunked Logic after the Ol' Man sent him to Providence College in Rhode Island.

Okay. Using this idiot's version of the Aristotelian syllogism on the tragedy at the armed military installation at Ft. Hood, let's give "Daley Logic" a try:

*Americans love guns.

*Guns were used in the massacre at Fort Hood.

Adrienne Heigel, the east coast godless, soulless, trouble making, back stabbing, police hating, far far left of far left liberal and a miserable example of a human being, would not pass gas without Huberman being informed.

Think about it. Huberman hired her at OEMC, took her to City Hall with him, took her to the CTA with him and took her to CPS with him. She would not do anything without keeping him informed and he knows she is no good, but he keeps her around him because she is loyal to him. She told Huberman all about these illegal things BEFORE she did them, and he gave the go ahead. Why do you think he has not fired her, but gave her a 30 day suspension? If he did not save her, and reward her loyalty, she just might leak the truth. Fire her, and the whole thing could come tumbling down around Huberman's head.

Or how about a grand jury? Drag in Huberman, Heigel, Argiropoulos, McDonald and Velasquez. They'll each be scurrying like rats on a sinking ship to be the first to snitch on the others. It could even lead to the downfall of shortshanks.

Hubes took a page right out of the Daley handbook. He took full responsibility and vowed to get to the bottom of it (no pun intended). Then he apoligizes while some underling falls on the sword and everything goes away. Ahh the Chicago way gotta love it. Watch and see where the guy that resigned ends up working in return for taking the blame

I have known Jimmy for a long, long time and he has always been a person to give 100% to his job. Also he has always been overly frightened to ever step beyond his bounds because he loved the job and couldn't stand the thought of losing it. It is the OEMC's loss and the city's loss that he took the fall for ugh! ( i can hardly stand to say his name) Huberman.
Jimmy was as delight to know and a delight to watch work - he loved his job so much - this is a crying shame. So long pal-o-mine and good luck in your future - I know you'll have a great one.

Hiegel supposedly received a 30 day suspension, if Argiropoulos was fired she should be fired also. Too bad it is too late to start looking into all their activity at CTA, like bringing in a firm to oversee real estate at $800,000 per year and one year into th deal real estate revenue has not increased at all. More consultants, the Huberman way.

He learned this trick at the knee of the stuttering prick... it's called plausible deniabilty!

Point the finger at, and discipline a subordinate, distance yourself or fire them, then claim you had NO IDEA that it was going on.

Ahhh, politics! Its a beautiful thing!

How does Huberman qualify for these jobs?
I mean what the fuck. First he's appointed head of OEMC and is literally in charge of the safety of all of Chicago's citizens.
What skills or training does he have that qualified him for this job?

Then, he get's appointed head of the worst public school system in the country and the future of the children of Chicago are in his his hands.

How can someone go from running the OEMC to running the schools?

Is this guy so fucking educated and knowledgeable about everything, or just a Daley hack who keeps fucking things up and gets transferred because hes a gooder boy?

Only Argiropoulos can take the fall for this because all of the others are no longer City employees. The discipline recommendations were listed, "if currently employed by the City of Chicago", therefore they have no relevance. As unfortunate as it may be, CTA and CPS are sister agencies to the City they are NOT City departments.

Jimmy was a great guy!
Many of you officers don't know
this, but you could ask him to do anyhthing and he could fix it in 48 hrs, esp when it came to officer safety issues on the cata system.
When the city decided to " make up" hundreds of calls signs that were not accepted in the system, and after talking to numerous bosses and half dozen 2/froms to have these numbers added to the computer, so we could put you down, track locations,, he did it within a couple days via an email.
When we couldn't read our screens because a moron thought yellow was a good type color, he fixed that with an email request.
Currently he was working on fixing the rd system on your pdts so that you and I would be able to see the rd number, but when I got the confirmation for that, the next day the "scandal" hit the press. So I forsee that problem won't be fixed for years to come.
I don't care what anybody says he still was the hardest working man at oec. Jimmy if you reading this, thank you and good luck in your future.
Maybe you could answer just one more question.
Why when they built the 10 mil plus room for Radio main and the OC during the Huberman era did they use funiture from crates marked for HABITAT FOR HUMANITY?

Fuck That!!!! Why are the Greeks not rallying to this man's defense? One thing I always respected about the greek community was the way they had each others backs. Without exception, I hear that this man has been used. That he is above reproach and an honest gentleman of integrity. Jesus Christ! What do we have? Maybe one, two, dare I say three, men or women like this working for the city anymore? Does no one, not a SINGLE man or woman have the balls to step up to the plate and say "the buck stops here?" I fear for us, not only as a city but as a society when all of our heroes are gone. All of our heroes are gone.

a. He is not a local Greek. He is a Southern Greek with no real Chicago roots. He is a transplant. If you ever heard him, he has more twang than a banjo.

b. Used? Possibly, and sporadically, but he was happy to be used as long as he had the mandate to wield the sceptor of unlimited power within the OEMC.

c. He is NOT above reproach and he is NOT an honest gentleman of integrity. He was a wheeler-dealer and he would lower the wrath on us or rat us out in a minute if we were not doing things his way, which was his own self-serving way. He was a tyrant.

d. He never once said the buck stopped with him or practiced that policy. He would make sure the buck stopped with you, except this time. He got caught in his own game. Balls? Not him.

e. Hero? You have got to be kidding! This guy was no hero. He held the CAD together with bubble gum, band aids, paper clips and rubber bands and made sure he was the only one to know where they were stored, so he was the only one that could find and use them. It provided him with job security, and one promotion after another in the way of titles and money, however, his duties never changed because he held all the CAD secrets and he was the only one that could diagnose and mend the damn thing. It was a good plan and worked well for him until he broke the law and the Mayor had no choice but to show him the exit door.

f. Where did you get all of your misinformation about him?

I have worked with Jimmy for over 12 years. This good man will be missed. His was a rare combination of kindness and work ethic known by few and matched by less. His seriousness of purpose was perpetually matched by humility and warmth. He brought us an abundance of authenticity and in a word, he brought us goodness. He is an exceptional person inferior to no one. He ran a tight ship that had no room for laziness. He expected 110% every day from employees and vendors alike and because of this many will say he was a tyrant; however, those who decided to try to meet his requirements learned a great deal from him and respected him. As several who worked for him during his tenure will affirm, he was there with a kind word and an open heart during times of trouble and bereavement for them as well as showing them gratitude and appreciation when deserved. He tried to help all who requested it of him and truly gave everything within his being to make a difference. He is blamed for something that is so much greater in scope than he was ever responsible for. In government, no matter the size, there are always going to be those who bear no guilt yet have to fall on their rapier at the behest of the organization. He is a Phoenix who will rise from the ashes and dust off the politics that burned him only to persevere on to the bigger and better things he deserves. We will unquestionably acknowledge him as we take notice of his celebrated future accomplishments. We were lucky to have him as long as we did.

OMG! You are so full of hot air! Will he be missed? Sure, because he is the only one with knowledge of the OEC secrets. Why? Because he created all the secrets and he did so by design.

You said there are always going to be those who bear no guilt yet have to fall on their rapier at the behest of the organization.

Are you totally out of touch with reality? If he truly bears no guilt, why would he fall on his rapier at the behest of the organization. Maybe for the good of the organization, even that is questionable, but, at the behest of the organization? If he is not guilty and taking one for Team Daley or Team Huberman because they asked him to do so, he is even less intelligent than you. Why would he take the hits so a criminal enterprise can continue to flourish? There comes a time when you must do the right thing, not the best thing for you or others.

Was he occassionally a nice guy? Sure, but it was towards his favorites. Being a worker was of no matter. If he did not like you, your work ethic meant nothing to him. He would work to get you, and get you good. He is not a fair man.

Will you see him rise again, like a Phoenix, as you say? I doubt it, but, if he does, and that is highly unlikely, it will be with severely singed feathers, and only after he has served his jail time and subsequently completed his parole period.
