"Shortshanks" Custer
Nebraska and 37 other states are supporting a challenge to Chicago’s ban on handguns.
The U.S. Supreme Court said earlier this fall that it would hear the lawsuit four people filed challenging the city ban.
One of the plaintiffs, Otis McDonald of Chicago, said he wants to own a firearm within city limits so he can protect himself in his home.
Daley is going to lose this one and lose it badly. But by golly, he's going to spend tax money defending this hill until the very last Indian scalps his still twitching corpse.
Actually, that's kind of a pleasing image.

bad thing is when the city loses, they will raise the registration fee per hand gun to 500.00 each or some other ridiculus amount!!!!!! thus shortshanks still gets his way and law abiding citizens lose out!!
notice how the dems are afraid of a consevative with a gun...but only give lip service about the wild west mentality on the south and west side of the city?
OOOOO OOOOOO PICK ME PICK ME!!! I AM INDIAN AND I HAVE MY OWN KNIFE!!!
King asshole wil not run again after losing three in a row. First the olympics, 2nd will be a police raise with retro and the final straw will be losing the gun ban.
Perhaps we will see a Concealed Carry law next? I cannot wait to see the look on Daley's face when he learns that the people have the right to keep and bear arms.
God Bless the CPD and nobody else.
"arms in the hands of citizens maybe used at indivudual discreation in private self defense." JOHN ADAMS>and fuck u shortshanks!
Muthafucking Otis. You go boy!
Having Indian blood flowing through my veins, I would like to point out that that statement could be construed as racist by some people. Those people would be idiots though.
If Michael Scott truly shot himself with his own handgun, then Mayor Daley should clarify his logic pattern re: handguns. Seems that it's OK for city officials to carry handguns, but not the poor voters worried about their personal safety. Or, perhaps Scott, Masters, Aunt Bea's future son-in-law, et al, are really gang-bangers violating the law just like all the other criminals here in Chicago.
Bet Michael Scott was a white-collar criminal with "blue-collar" criminal ties. Stay tuned.

Doesn't even come close to passing the Heller "smell test". The clear trend is that there can be restrictions. There CAN'T be restrictions which fundamentally impair the right to keep and bear arms.
Daley and his zombies can TRY anything. They'll just lose in court again and start racking up the punitive damages. Of course pull the right tricks and criminal contempt comes into play.
How about a very simple question the reporters could ask Daley.
"Do you own a handgun, and if so, is it registered with the city?"
I would also like to know how many aldermen and other city heavyweights own handguns in this most anti-gun city in America. Are they registered with the city?
We already know the aldermen created, with Daley's blessing, a little loophole for an alderman who forgot to register his multiple handguns on time.
They can have them, but the rest of the citizens can not. Does anyone see a problem with that?

Don't forget the future indictment of son Patrick "Hiding in Moscow" Daley and nephew Robert "Got your money and gone" Vanecko. Let's just hope he retires to prison with his family in tow.
This Mayor has no common sense. He screams that the City is in the red by $500 million, but he will continue to spend millions of dollars that the city claims it doesn't have to defend a ban that he knows will be overturned. Other Mayor's have dropped all attempts to defend their bans because of the inevitable lost at the US Supreme Court level. Thereby saving millions of tax dollars.
37 States vs The State of Chicago
$500 is unattainable for some people. That law is an infringement based on economic status. The courts won't allow that (or will until it's challenged). Owning a firearm shouldn't be prohibitively expensive, and registration is an infringement already to boot.
NRA.COM Join today. Daley hates this wonderful organization, so you know that they are honest, pro-police, and have the best interests of American citizens at heart.
imagine if the handgun ban is lifted in chicago--- the "knee jerk" reaction would be for all the goofs to go out and buy a gun because they can--- thousands of people suddenly become gun owners without any idea of how to operate, maintain, or properly secure the weapon....
Check out Higgin's cartoon in the ST today. I literally laughed out loud when I saw it. That guy does not like Shortshanks.
There are some democratic AG's among the 37. That's gotta annoy shortshanks.
You cannot tax or charge a fee to exercise a right. The FOID card is either gone or issued for free, the city registration is gone or free. After the various suits are filed there may not even be a sales tax allowed on guns or ammunition because that would be imposing a tax on an individuals right to keep and bear arms.
HOW MUCH HAS DALEY SPENT FIGHTING THIS IN COURT?? ANY NUMBERS???
12:41.....Exactly!
None of these loathsome libs, commies, democrats, fellow travelers give 2 shits about street crime. The dirty secret is they care even less about minority crime victims. The hard core organized crime and communist wings of the democrat party fear free, armed, citizens.
On a national level, the Reds retreated a bit on the gun issue to get phony "moderates" elected. Just a tactical move until they trainwreck the nation and the people look to them to provide strong, authoritarian, Red leadership as a last resort.

Gee, if it's found to be unconstitutional, wouldn't it be interesting if the City had to reimburse the fees already paid by the public?

I say...so fucking what, it never hurt the citizens in all the other states. Give them a while to get used to being free from this bullshit oppressive daley regime. Actually this is the only way this city will restore order because the real police have left the fucking building.
"The right to Bear Arms".
I have a pair of bear arms over my fireplace, just like that Family Guy episode.

You are very naive if you think everyone who wants a gun in Chicago doesn't ALREADY have it!!They just aren't registered..

Thanks for your high opinion of your fellow Chicagoans. Are you of the opinion that repealing Prohibition was a bad thing, too? Look around at your neighbors, not the scumbags running around the streets with guns, and ask yourself how many of them have military experience, how many of them have hunted or owned guns somewhere else.
The fact of the matter is that Chicago's unConstitutional gun ban is going the way of the DC gun ban, and freedom will be returned to the people of Chicago. The next step is "shall issue" concealed handgun licenses.

"Do you own a handgun, and if so, is it registered with the city?"
I live in the City.Have for many many years. Own MANY handguns NOT ONE IS REGISTERED.NOR WILL THEY EVER BE. FUCK YOU DALEY and all the BRAINWASHED that think this is a bad thing to be able to protect yourself with a handgun. GIVE UP RICHIE! Its over time for your over fed ass to go out to pasture.
Moved to Phoenix area after I retired. Probably once a month they have a news story about some goof attempting to stick up a store with a gun. And the store owner/employee gets the drop on the goof and shoots him.
San Tan Ford in the Tempe/Mesa area had their annual sale last month. Buy a new car and get your choice of an AK 47 or a Glock.
As for public aid, state is in financial peril like all states. They now have a form for all public aid folks and if there is reasonable belief that they are drug users, they have to undergo drug screening to get their aid.
Fucking savages. I carry whenever I go to the city. I hate the town, but I have to earn a living. I'd rather be alive and deal with the fallout than to, well you know.
Fuck Shortshanks.

You mean just like every other state that had mass killings after they realized that they couldn't infringe people's Rights? Get this and try to understand it. The bad guys already have guns, lot's of guns. The handgun ban only restricts law abiding citizens who actually follow the laws, bad guys tend not to follow any laws, hence we call them bad guys. I, as a police officer, am not afraid of good people with guns. Nor do I want to take guns away from good people. Good people are free to exercise their rights in this country and it's about time this city was read the riot act on Rights. Not just the second amendment but all the amendments are individual Rights, that is the truth. Without individual Rights we are nothing but serfs or peasants serving the lord of the land and that is tyranny. As police officers, it's our job to get the bad guys, actual criminals who hurt people or steal or sell drugs but it's not our job to disarm the law abiding citizenry. A man or woman who wishes to own a gun, even a handgun, to protect their family is not a criminal. This handgun ban was bad the day it was written and it remains a bad law to this day. The only responsible, common sense gun law would be one that prevents actual criminals from getting them and that is impossible. Law abiding people should never be denied their Rights and police officers should never be put in the position of arresting law abiding citizens. Imaging if there was a book ban, or certain books were banned, would that not be an infringement on the first amendment. Would police officers be ordered to confiscate Bibles or Little red riding hood or Jack and the beanstalk? The rest of the country doesn't have a problem with gun ownership, even in New York and California there are permits to carry. I don't have a problem with good people owning or even carrying guns. I have a huge problem with politicians who like to ban Rights.
"imagine if the handgun ban is lifted in chicago--- the "knee jerk" reaction would be for all the goofs to go out and buy a gun because they can---"
I can legally buy a handgun. Having it in my home unregistered with the city is a violation of a municipal ordinance, a misdemeanor. No matter what crap "they" try to scare you with.

You are fuck&*ng right lets all hope!

That will be illegal and the NRA will fight back guaranteed

You are the REAL POLICE! not like the NUMB-SKULL who wrote the (knee jerk) posting
So why does anyone need more than one gun? If you must collect something, how about sports cards, coins, stamps, or anything else? If you have only one gun, you can afford the registration fee.

It's not a question of need. If I want to buy something and it's legal, then it's legal. If I want to collect firearms and I can afford the ones I want then you nor anyone else has anything to say about it.

Does the Constitution say anywhere about the NEED to bear arms, or the RIGHT to bear arms?
I'll own as many fucking guns as I want, and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it. When you really think about it, what's wrong with having a pile of metal in my closet? A gun is a tool..should we have limits on how many hammers one can buy in a year? That'll solve the gluttony of new homes on the market..I think I'm onto something.
Ever notice how whenever the government tries to ban or control something, the problem they are trying to prevent, gets worse?
